  1. These guys are awesome! They have incredible hours...saved me when i was out on some important tackle!
  2. I just checked out the algonquin page, never realized they had an ice-out watch too! http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/news/ice-out.php cheers, S&C
  3. I'm pretty sure the avid has lifetime warranty, but not sure if its covered against non-factory defects. someone should be able to clarify...best of luck s&c
  4. totally agree, weather is huge, especially the way its been this year! Great structure and such. best of luck, S&C
  5. I was always a fan of these rods, they look so fantastic and challenge some of the other huge manufactures...thanks for the info!
  6. check out VMC's spinshot drop shot hooks, won't be disappointed!!
  7. My gosh that water looks sweeeeeet! Nice catches!
  8. Wicked Spey build! Very appealing! Thanks for sparking some interest in spey fishing by the way!!
  9. I would give it a try, you never know! the benefit is that the slip float plus the heavier weight of the drop-shot will allow you to cast much farther, helping you to target the drop-off...goodluck!
  10. Great rod for the money! I'm pretty sure it's one of St. croix's top selling rods. Compre is nice too, unless your not a fan of the synthetic foam. If you wanna go crazy you can go a couple steps above and get the Rage, totally different neoprene handle (that doesn't get slippery when wet). Rod is extremely light and has the second smallest guides (next to microguides) such that you can still run knots through the guides without having it affect the casting. But if your set on the mojo, i'd go for it, getting a great product for what you pay for. 5 year warranty only covers manufacture defects! good luck on the choice!
  11. I am in absolute awe! Such a fantastic report! Thanks for the time you spent writing it, enjoyed it very much. S&C
  12. You can try going with a smaller diameter braid...something like a 20lbs,15lbs, or even smaller. The rule of thumb I usually go by is no more than a 30lbs braid on a spinning reel. The thinner braid will also allow you to cast further too. Hope this helps, S&C
  13. can you provide spec's? maybe I can machine it
  14. Would also suggest blue beacon, just keep an eye on the wind forecast before you go, could be a nasty one!
  15. I've seen some fly fisherman use tiny ones (dont know the brand name), very fast and efficient. As mentioned above, stringease makes some good ones.
  16. Pretty cool the wonders of natural selection
  17. I believe line capacity as well as wieght but than again, you wont even notice the difference being that they're superlight! Could be other little things but I'm not sure, others will be able to tell you though. Hope this helps! S&C
  18. WOW, those brookies are beauts!!! What an adventure!, thanks for sharing!
  19. Nice Fish! Commend you for cleaning up the junk people ignorantly leave behind!
  20. IMO, SAIL's prices are much better than BPS
  21. Good Choice! I would've done the same, unfortunatly it seems that the lowered price point has also brought about the lower quality in the reel (go figure). Thanks for the heads up, I just don't understand why they would do something to a reel that has such a good reputation??? The chronarch should be much better and should handle more like an actual "curado" and hopefully better. Thanks! S&C
