DRIFTER_016 Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Current temp outside is -37C and -48 with the windchill. And my power has been out for 3 1/2 hours. The temp in my kitchen when I left for work was between -5C and -8C. I'm gonna be pissed if the pipes freeze.

skeeter Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 I didnt know igloo's had heat. why are homes built without a drain valve for just this reason?
Beans Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Brrrrrrr...that's not good ! I use my wood stove for just such emergencies and the odd recreational fire...
aplumma Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 If you are still home and don't have heat allow the faucets to run at a fast drip/tiny thin stream to keep them from freezing. Art

Headhunter Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) I would immediately start to consume copious amount of my favorite alcholic beverage... but that seems to be my reaction to most things! So, at the end of the day, there is a lot to be said for consistancey! On the up side, ice for your drink will not be a problem! See, there's a silver lining behind every cloud! aplumma Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 That only works when you are on town water. I'm on trucked water with a 500 gallon tank and pump. Well that puts a kink in my approach...If it starts to get to cold you can turn off the pump if it is a jet pump and open the cap on top to drain back the house. Make sure you open all of the faucets hot and cold to allow it to drain. Art
