bigugli Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 (edited) ok ugli...so whats turre pie The turre, or properly known as the Common Murre, is a coastal bird that lives along the cliffs of the Newf and Lab coasts. A poor flyer but fantastic swimmer, it often got caught in the fishermen's nets. In years of poor catch harvests, fishermen from the outports would go out and hunt them or net them. They'd be cooked in a pie, not unlike..." 4 and 20 blackbirds baked in a pie' as the rhyme goes. Years ago a school buddy's Mom made a fantastic pie. His uncle would ship a crate of the birds from St John's every year. Edited October 11, 2010 by bigugli
douG Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Cranberry and Raisin is one that is not mentioned yet. Sweet and tart at the same time.

perchslayer666 Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 #1 Blueberry #2 Cherry #3 Pumpkin Not Pies: * Cheesecake (gross) * Rhubarb is not a pie ingredient * Any "pie" you have to put in the microwave.
Governator Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 #1 Apple Crumble #2 Pumpkin Contrary to the above poster, cheesecake is probably my favourite desert although of course not a pie.
troutologist Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 I combined all my favourite pies into one pie, its by far the best. Apple Strawberry Bluberry Peach
