Big Cliff Posted June 30, 2010 Report Share Posted June 30, 2010 OK, my 65th birthday is coming up in January and I would like to do something special in the way of a fly in fishing trip so I am looking for some ideas. Here is what I am looking for: First class all the way, superb fishing and accomodations with a guide and camp cook and I don't mean some schmo that makes a good stew, like I said first class! I don't want to have to clean a fish, wash a plate, or cook anything. All I want to do is go and fish till my arms hurt, eat until my belly hurts, (and if I feel like it, drink until my head hurts). This is going to be a "once in a life time" for me and I would like it to be something I can always look back on with fond memories. So, where better to start than right here. It,s fly or train and from what I have been told by the members here,lots of fish and great place to go. Trout, walleye, salmon, species isn't too important and I'm not a "record" kind of guy, I'd be happy with good numbers of decent fish. I have fished the West coast and a lot of points in Ontario and Quebec. Loved salmon fishing but the numbers were few, sizes large. How far would I be willing to travel to the jump off point? Either coast is within limites. The most important thing to me is the quality of the trip 4-6-8-24 hours are just small numbers in the whole picture. Starting in the east I'd take a close look at Minipi lodge in Labrador for giant brook trout: http://www.minipilodges.com/ In Ontario we have many outstanding 5 star fly in lodges for walleye and pike. TDunn Posted June 30, 2010 Report Share Posted June 30, 2010 I'd be going to a lake trout lake on either slave, great bear or athabasca. Many of my friends have guided Here on Athabasca. Ive seen the pictures and videos and its definitly once in a lifetime....Any of the trophy lake trout lakes are....Plus huge pike and grayling as mentioned above! corvette1 Posted July 1, 2010 Report Share Posted July 1, 2010 i cliff i have been to leuenbergers 5 times stayed at keg lake first rate food 2 of us cought 400 eyes in a week awesome that was in 3rd week of july if you go in may or june you can get 500 to 800 eyes i dont like black files i have been to knee lake 5 star all the way same with wollaston lake 5 star mainly for pike but i did get 75 eyes in 4 hours for 1/3 of the of the price of the 5 star lodges i would go to leuenbegers in the five years i have been never a bad time pm me if you need to Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
