Went out "east" to fish for some steelhead withmy buddy and what a great time. First drift i hookinto a huge steelie that halfway throught the fight broke my 14 foot raven rod. I managed to land it with the broken rod but didnt get a chance to get a pic as it slipped away when i was washing it off, real shame too, was about 15 lbs.

So i quickly re rigged with the little bit of rod i have left ( about 8 feet) and took another drift BAM fish on, landed this one even though my rod was stiff as a pole and 8 feet long...

MY buddy that i fished with also got into quite a few fish...

Lots more fish caught but the batteris on my cam ran out.

Man do i wish i lived closer to the eastern rivers, its so much easier to get into fish. ;)

Nice fish, bummer about the rod!

I always look forward to your posts for the scenery. Have you ever fished steel in a casino or perhaps an amusement park? ;)

Ll nice fish and nice photoshopping :P Too bad about the rod. I broke mine last week but not to a fish. My sister snapped it while shutting the trunk, Ouch

Heres the thing ... when the shots looks fake because of thephotshopping ... the mind wants to think well how do I know th fish isnt fake (and WE KNOW they are real) ... but it takes somehting away for me.

If I recognized one of 'your' holes because you left the trees and stones in ... I'll bet that nobodoy who doesnt already fish that stretch of river will so I dont get it

Anyhow enough pontificating ... glad to hear ya had a great day .. I was all set to go too when wifey told me I was taxi for the day ... oh welll ... maybe tomorrow :)

Yeah it was stiff, but still managed to land the fish, i actually found it was easier to make a strong hookset, but there was hardly a fight, sorta like bass fishing..

nice fish, guys but still dont understand the photoshop????? :dunno::dunno: most agree that the natural photo is way better than those fake backgrounds :dunno::unsure::dunno:

I certainly agree.... the photoshopping certainly takes away from the pictures... turns it into more of a LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME sorta post.... I normally pass on these for that exact reason. most here feel the same way. Sucks that the things that make other fishing sites horrible are beginning here as well.

nice fish though..

PS... Why not add steeples to your pics as well :D LOL

Okay guys..let the photoshopping complaints go.

The pics belong to the poster and if they feel that they must crop or edit to protect their spot, it is their right.

I wouldn't want to discourage people from posting...would you rather have no reports?

Posted

My opinion is my opinion... if people are that worried that I am gonna be on their backs fishing their spot then why post the report at all???... Unless they are interested in something more??

Look at me... Look at me... this is what we are receiving as of late...

I am all for reports yes they make this site awesome!! Especially when I cant get out fishing as much as I'd like too!... but unfortunatly it has become much less of a report and more of a self gratification type of post...these posts offer little in terms or technique lures presentation used....

Want the exact opposite?? Look at for example the Barrie docks reports.. full of info what was working what wasnt and how they made out... Did I hit the Barrie docks just because of a report?? nope... did the thousands that use this site daily converge there?? Nope... but a few did (perhaps 4-5) and reported about what an awesome time their 5 year olds had... this is what this site used to be about!! and I hope it is not changing..

I know I am not alone in this.. Most people here are here to exchange ideas and what is working and not (other then NF posts) but to be so secretive does little to nothing for the good of the board and people that feel the need HAVE to hide something are purely in it for themselves..

Infact someone ( a good friend and user of this board) once told me something...and it kinda stuck... Dont want your hole fished?? dont say a word to anyone ever... these posts we are seeing are nothing more then people being self promoters.

I my above post is both written in good taste and not directed towards anyone, I am only expressing my opinion... hopefully it will stand without being dusted or modified by the mods.

Gerrit, I understand you are trying to be a "troublemaker" as you posted  or just trying to stir the pot, but you just dont get it. Rivers get ALOT more pressure than lakes and posting shots with full backgrounds does not help. But instead of complaining in every thred i make how about you go to a river catch some fish and post FULL background shots as you please.

Posted (edited)

Fishfinder I did post a full report... and no I am not a troublemaker... although sometimes when people speak the truth it hits some people close to home for that I am sorry... and no I am not stirring the pot.. I am offering my opinion and it was in good taste and not directed specifically towards you.. funny... and Obviously there were many others before me that also spoke up..

Gerritt.

I also need to add that I have been a long time member here and until recently this is the first I have seen this sorta stuff in terms of fishing reports... perhaps I need time adjusting to the new generation and the methods in which they post their reports....

I'm not convinced it is 'Look at me' more than it is protecting a spot. I don't do that to my fishing pics and most other people don't either. Of course, this year, most other people had way more pictures than I did.

Was it not you that wrote this

Welcome to the OFC... I am the resident trouble maker...

Anyways I dont see how you are comparing this to perch in barrie, to steelhead in the GTA, the rivers get crazy amounts of pressure from early fall to late spring, and it doesent help when snaggers are thrown into the mix.

As Rick said, let the comments go... Post your reports as you please, but theres no need to comment in mine negativley

I really don't see the point of posting yourself in the pics at all?? Might as well just snap a close up of the fish. It makes little sense to me why anyone would go to the trouble of taking a portrait of themselfs if they are going to photoshop the whole thing? And besides, your getting enough heat on the photoshopping bit anyway, don't bother with the effort if no one is going to appreciate it. If you are protecting your spot(s), and not intending to make a "look at me" post, do what everyone else does - post a close up pic of the fish on the bank. Less fuss and far less effort... For examples, check out just about every CC report. CC guards his spots like a pro - without being obnoxious about it.

You assume I am being negative.... quite the opposite... I am simply stating the pictures that are edited, in the manner in which it seems a SELECT few steelheaders have been posting are some what fake... and are seen by many as just that...

I am not trying to insult you in any way.. sorry if you think that... this is just simply not the case..

There are ALOT of people on this board that have been here for along time... and until this year it seems this didnt go on...

I have recieved a ton of pms regarding this thread... most 95% are in favour of what the other posters before Me posted in this thread...

I have also recieved two that were in your favour...so you do have supporters :D

again I am not against you nor am I against your reports... just the manner in which pictures are being posted not only by you.

Have a great night! this will be my last post on this subject.

Well, I've had a close look at all four pictures and I'd say that that 3rd picture is definitely Photoshopped.
