Great report and pictures. That's a great bunch of lakers. An amazing adventure for your son

With the volume of posts now your bound to get different opinions. That seems to be the main difference compared to 5 yrs. ago. I remember it took a long time to go from 1 to 3 million page views. It took about the same time to go from 3 million to nearly 35 million. It's way more public. If you carried over your posts in the last couple of board changes (like most others) you probably would exceed 6000 posts already. Do you miss the intimacy with other fishermen on a smaller board.

That video cam in the St. Mary's River is very cool. The live feed is best. Saw mostly Atlantics, some pinks and the odd sucker. Great link, ehg

That's a real happy child.

Karma and Fate, Do You Believe In That Stuff?(NF)

Choosing not to rip into your neighbour was probably the best choice. -
At least you caught some decent fish there on Sunday. Congrats! Was up there on Saturday as well and caught no muskies that day as well. Trolled the deep water north of Big Island for a few hours, before the wind blew up and forced us down to the back channel. Tried for bass with the usual spnnerbaits and topwaters on good spots. Nada! Caught some bass on grubs/jig rippin weeds however. Think i saw youse guys, we were in reddish brown tinny up by Hurricane Point. No one else was really fishing there on a Saturday in mid- August. Nice fish anyways, ehg

Nice walleye I guess you caught more walleye than that one? That island seems to be a main feature of that lake. Nice variety of conditions in the pictures, ehg

Mountain Climbing and My Little Girls Big Pike (lots more pic's)
ehg replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Wow, what a great vacation Having the whole family up on top of the mountain for the great view and blueberries is truly outstanding. You are a lucky man. Thanks for posting this, ehg -
Sandy lake has largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, panfish and some musky. It's an odd but pleasant little lake. All the fish have a silver hue to them due to the lake bottom being covered in a white sediment from crushed snail shells.
-
Excellent fish! Very few musky get larger than that. All the questions you asked and efforts you put in sure paid off. FWIW, the Joe Bucher moon charts had that day as a peak day. Great, great fish, ehg

Good thing your young son (and you) got through that. That is brutal sounding.

A 23 year old and 18 year old aren't children. They are adults.

Thanks for positive feedback. Here is a couple of non fish oil paintings done shortly after the fish painting. Copied the Van Gogh irises and added 10 %(on left side) because some others didn't think i could do it. Took a stab at still life not best picture.

Personally i have no clue about immigration laws or Saudi law or details of this case, but i would think that 23 yr old and 18 yr old men would be considered men not boys or children. I was 17 in last year of high school (no schoolyard or recess) most were thinking of living on their own. A 23 yr old is an adult.

Congrats on the weight loss, eating fish lots of veggies and fruit is probably helping alot. Even if you quit smoking, eating a lot of fish and veggies will keep the weight down and help lessen your chance of heart attacks, cancer, diabetes etc... Quit smoking May 1st myself and found it wasn't the nicotine i was addicted to but the physical movements involved in smoking. take a cast (light a cigarette), after eating a meal (light a smoke), go outside (light a smoke) just like John outlined above. Squid put up a great thread on quitting smoking it helped me. I just quit without Champix. Congrats and good luck, ehg

O.K i kinda get why the pike are frowned on there, seeing that 18 inchers hit everything, and there nasty little teeth will still cut you. Sounds like there akin to mosquitos. Pike are not as populous down in southern Ontario. Great report as usual Sean. ehg

I would try just dew worms , hook, sinker, as mentioned. Rouge Park at the east end of Lawrence has easy access or fork out a little cash for a trout pond like Burd's. Good Luck, ehg

Great report! The photography is fantastic. Too bad about the pike discrimination that one is huge. That fox is cuter than most of the dogs in parks around here. Thanks for posting, ehg

About 3 yrs. ago i tried painting with my childrens acrylic paint set and this popped up. Some underwater Pacific salmon. Posted this on older version of OFC at the time. Tried a few more paintings after that with oil but they aren't fishing related. Unfortunately, i had multiple sclerosis reduce my vision in one eye since then which halted my painting. Anyways, noticed others paintings here so thought i'd share one of mine. cheers, ehg

Just realized i replied to wrong thread Rick, great striper fishing there, but the above post is for ' What scares you' thread....

Waterspouts or tornadoes would be scary of course but the more common lightening gets me off the water quick. Nice recent striper report there Rick. ehg

Fishing Kawartha lakes mostly i'd make a similar list. 1. Topwaters- caught the most and biggest fish. 2. Spinnerbaits 3. Tubes- for deeper presentation 4. Grubs- usually smoke or pumpkinseed When all these fail a blk/silver original rapala or x-rap are the choice. ehg

Nice pile of decent fish there. Quinte is increasing on the bass numbers but still good walleye fishing. Thanks for posting. ehg

A Very Interesting Read About Cancer (Definitely NF)
ehg replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
I think most health professionals are trying to find a cure for this, they have family, friends and a heart like everyone else. Like was said previously, if a cure was found those professionals would find some other similar work quickly. I've had Multiple Sclerosis for 6 yrs. which is considered a similar 'modern, incurable, mysterious' disease. While it isn't as nasty as cancer, it can create disability. Most recommendations to alleviate MS symptoms are similar to what is outlined in those articles about fighting cancer. Candida is being talked about as a root cause for MS as well. At least the research is being done for these 'modern diseases', you would think most reseachers have their heart in the right place.
