Yep, post spawn, highly stressed. That's why it didn't spook when you were so close. Not great table fare and to catch and release would likely kill the fish.
If we'd had any decent rain lately that fish would be back in the cool waters of the lake recovering.
I've caught lots of spring resis Wallico that resembled yours in colour that also had the apparent black grubs, I'd guess thats a resi too and a big one!
I think the first fish pic in question is a Brookie though, but it looks like some sort of hatchery or net escapee.
Good to see a report from you Dan though I could have done without the pics of Colin......
Looks like some greenery is coming back after the fires you and I trolled along several years back now, damn that's to long to go without a return visit!
There have been reported cases in Ontario, while odds of contracting it may be slim you should at the very minimum exercise caution while cleaning up.

That appears to be a Deer Mouse Emil, be careful cleaning up after it as it could be a source of Hantavirus.

Just added a link to that in another thread John, that's mere blocks from where I used to live in Burlington. Knowing the area it's hard to imagine how it made it's way into such a busy and densely populated area without being seen.
My oldest daughter loves that stuff Joe, in fact she recently inherited a mess of vinyl, mostly box sets of 33's from her great grandfather, though I had to show her what a turntable was.....LOL
