It gets worse, last night I had five raccoons in the yard.

I always think in terms of balance Garry and if reels go lighter then rods need to go lighter. At some point one or the other will fail! I build (as you well know) many rods and the trend these days for lighter and lighter float reels (centerpin for you young'ns) makes it hard to keep these long rods in balance. That fact has had many these days choosing to go with longer rear grips and shorter fore grips (think spinning rod) to offset the forward weight and that generally means your losing as much of a foot or more of your long rod behind your hand. What's the point? Keep the rod length up front and think in terms of balance, you'll get more out of your rod, performance wise.

Brook brought it to my attention, she was going nuts. I'm truly surprised given how high she was jumping up the 6' fence that she didn't get a hold of it. I'm almost wishing she had......

I was surprised to see this young'n (fence boards are 5 3/4") at high noon with the heat and all. Dog was going nuts and it froze, remaining there for over half an hour. Couldn't bring myself to disposing of it though it would have been quite easy, I hope I don't regret my decision. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Yep, another plus for the less scenic route. However if you've never driven the 17 it's worth doing at least once, as I did. Though the rain and fog made the views less than spectacular on my trip.

I try to stay far away from anything or anyone who insists on shipping UPS!

11 may be boring but it's an easier drive and less fuel consumption when towing IMO, and yes I've driven both and will stick to 11 in the future.

Awesome! Spectacular! I'm dumbfounded! I'd be happy to boat just of those beauties! While I've had many "Gar" strikes over the years while targeting other species I've never kept one tagged long enough to land it. Well it's Father's day and being located here in Hamilton I'm privileged to view the many planes of years gone by as the Hamilton Air Show is under way and I'm reminded of how fortunate we are to live the lives we have today. So I'm taking a few minutes to remember our forefathers, the sons, the husbands, the many who grew up without fathers and husbands and the young men who never had a chance to become fathers.
