I guess that sums it up nicely.

As I said being very familiar with the area the background in the fourth picture is the entrance to the fish ladder, the other pictures are from the same location just from a different angle. It's up to the angler to be aware of the regs, with or without signage.
-
Knowing the area well I can still say that the above applies.
-
as well as..... Fish within 22.9 (75ft.) downstream from the lower entrance to any fishway or canal, obstacle or any device designed to assist fish around an obstacle.

Oooops, Sorry Brian I forgot that Zoey was out there, my bad.
-
As my status says Brian, good to see you and the Mrs as well. But as for Zoey, well she wasn't here, that's Solo's dog. You saw Brook and she's okay with you, just liked your Mrs more.

Good stuff!

The "dog leg" reel seat is definitely old school. Perhaps a compromise, fish it, catch one (or two) then retire it to a place of honour, that would certainly make it a conversational piece for years to come. What ever you decide it is of course your choice Paul, I just think it'd be a shame to break it, new rods can be had relatively cheaply, that one is irreplaceable.
-
If I may offer a little advice Paul, I'd be very much inclined to display that beauty rather than fish with it. Old hollow glass rods from the good old days can often become brittle over the years depending on how and where they were stored. It would be a shame to have it break given that it likely has great sentimental value.

Well that sure brings back a few memories. When I was a young teenager my friend/neighbour had an "Eagle Claw" rod much like that although it was a spinning model. Man did I covet that rod, especially with that emblem on the handle. Well suffice to say he flaunted it on me at every opportunity until the day I showed him my first custom rod, a Fenwick in much the same colour as the Eagle Claw. He didn't flaunt it so much after that. Anyhoo, nice piece of memorabilia there Paul, enjoy.

My thanks to all for the compliments.. It's always a pleasure for me to meet the requirements of my customers and have them pleased with the end results. I see it didn't take you long Mike to get the line through the guides for it's maiden run tomorrow, I hope it exceeds all your expectations.

The new memo on my fridge door says "try to be as wise as Lucas everyday, for failure to do so will have him look down upon me for being less wise than he!"

I see a market for "Depends" sleeping bags.

Thanks Cliff. Who hasn't had an itch that needed to be scratched. While we sit safely in our homes wondering what would possess these folks to be out there, they had an itch. Truth is some of these folks could be OFC'ers or even a good friend. I hope they all return home safely and I'd be remiss if I didn't applaud the heroic efforts of the rescue people. Watching the helicopter video a few moments ago clearly showed how nasty and precariously close to death many faced out there, not nice!

My kind of weekend.

Back in the late 70's and early 80's when Herring were still fairly abundant in Simcoe my go to lure for ice fishing was the 6" Williams Whitefish, no doubt it'll become a hot lure again with the Herring population bouncing back. (Link fixed)

No doubt I missed a good weekend even if I had just couched it with yous. So where's the pictures?
