  1. what kind of terrain will you be travelling over? If there are any steep hills, crampons are very helpful.
  2. I like the idea of kitchen gloves over another pair. I'd like to find the kind that the OP is looking for, but not for $40----call me cheap!'' Tight outer gloves will compress the material underneath and ruin it's insulating value before circ is cut off. Any insul is ruined if you compress it enough..
  3. The Poster Formerly Known as Knuguy

  4. Americans and brewing beer----not a winning combo!!!
  5. Might be OK for those smallish lakers, but not for the ones in Simcoe!!
  6. I'm glad you mean the antenna rather than your wife!!
  7. If you look in the dictionary that's given as an example of an oxymoron.
  8. I have a Lowrance and there is a small delay but nothing I consider significant. The biggest problem was getting it set up so that I could see my lure or sinker. There are so many screens and choices that get to be very confusing esp when your fingers are freezing!! I saw 1 guy try to use a flasher last year and it was all razzle dazzle. I had no idea what I was looking at and apparently neither did he, despite his convoluted explanations as to what was what. Gee wiz---I can play video games in he comfort of my living room!!
  9. One way to counteract that is to have really big guides esp at the top
  10. Now that, IMHO, is a true sign of class!!

  12. I think I'll pass on those---that way I'll have yet another excuse why I didn't catch any!!
  13. That should be a minor consideration. who cares how much city water you use when it's keeping your bsmt dry?
  14. why is your bait going round and round? If you take one end of a long string or rope and rotate it in a circle, the other end won't very much if at all.
  15. My doctor's office has thrown out their mags for that very reason---or so I was told when I asked where all the 2 year old mags were!
  16. I don't have 2 separate systems but I do have 2 pumps, one set 'low' and the other 'high'. If the buried discharge pipe freezes I will disconnect it and run it over the ground using temporary plastic pipe. I don't have city water so I cannot use a water driven pump. I did look at buying a remote sensor that would send an alarm to a smartphone but it looked like a PITA to hook up a modem etc for a non-computer geek. The one I looked at is shown on this link: http://www.hedonics.com/store/prodinfo.asp?number=13501&variation=&aitem=3&mitem=7 I wasn't keen on buying it on-line and have been unable to find one in a store. I don't see this Homesitter on the TSC website. There is a similar one on the Home H site but the price is not obvious.
  17. No, but I have a bypass on the softener so I could do that, flush it thru the kitchen sink and take the sample from the kitchen. I'll do that in the next few days then, depending on the results, check again downstream of the softener. I'll post what I find out. Thx for your help gents!
  18. Here's the rest: The ticket was a few years ago, and was given to me by OFFICER Beavers,, can't remember his first name but will not forget his last...lol He's done this type of thing to few locals,, But haven't seen him around for a while, MAYBE SOMEONE BONKED HIM? I just read on another forum that CO Beaver is still with the MNR in the Barrie/Orillia area. So anyone in that area, should be mindful.
  19. Thx, gents. I will wipe the tap with bleach and make sure I don't putt the cap down the next time around. I could do the next test with the softener bypassed to try to determine if the softener is the problem. But it's the water that has passed thru the softener that we want to drink and if coliform is somehow coming in via the softener then I need to fix that problem. So I think the subsequent test should be done with water that has passed thru the softener. Is that what you were suggesting? thx
  20. I think that it was the other end of the horse that told you! Check here for the scoop on Beaver: http://www.greybruceoutdoors.com/showthread.php?11404-New-fee-from-the-MNR/page2 Posts 12, 24 and 42
