  1. This was posted on another site: "George Snake is the man who drowned. He broke through thin ice and he was approximately 300 meters from the ferry channel. He was a lifelong resident of Georgina Island and was aware of the ferry channel."
  2. Oh, udunno---he wouldn't have hurt anything!!!
  3. Do you have a minnow pail or something that could serve as 1? Dump them in there with some fresh water and they'll be OK.
  4. Not quite the same thrill as Simcoe 'jumbo perch"!!
  5. I agree, but that's a different trip IMO---you either see the Maritimes or you straight to Nfld.
  6. I remember that line well from when my kids and I saw the movie and they shouted GHOSTBUSTERs around the house for days afterwards!!
  7. Thx, Terry. I have a DW9099 batt and it's apparently 1.3 amp-hrs. Not sure how many holes I would get from that. I bought an adapter to fit it last year but I found it tricky to use---e.g. if the auger got stuck at all it would wrench right out of my hand and there was a danger of straining/tearing a tendon if I didn't let go quickly. I hear the Clam adapter plate solves that prob and is much easier to use. Not sure if I want to buy one though if I only get a 1/2 doz holes on my 6" auger. Comments? thx http://www.amazon.ca/DeWalt-DW9099-Battery-Replacement-1300mAh/dp/B00W4CECTW
  8. It amazes me how many people seem happy to let this place become the wild West!!!
  9. I have a normal DeWalt DC759 but cannot tell how many amp-hrs the batt has. Tried looking it up online---no luck.
  10. Microsoft seems quite persistent in trying to get me to move to 10. That in itself makes me a bit suspicious. what's they catch? Do they get me hooked and then start charging? Any geeks that I've spoken to have cautioned me about switching to 10. Life is complicated enough already---I don't need extra headaches!!
  11. I understand that some drills will burn out if used on that sort of rig. I have a DeWalt 18 V and I'm not sure if that would work out OK or not.
  12. I assume you have good exhaust fans at home!!!
  13. Maybe if was even real beer!!! The original Czech version of Bud is now being sold in Canada under the name "Czechvar', Couldn't use the Bud name now that the Americans have ruined it!!
  14. I made up a similar version last year but hardly used it at all. Somehow just couldn't be bothered once I got out there sitting (rrelatively) comfortably on my bucket. It would seem to take some of the fun out of it.
  15. We had a wood stove installed in 2009. There was a slight increase in our insurance premium but nothing major and no hassle.
  16. Tony Bennet would be a good choice too!
  17. This is not about taxes. It's about not polluting your neighbors' air. We have no inherent 'right' to do that any more than we have a right to blow cig smoke in somebody's face!
  18. Sting, Drake?? what about somebody with 2 names??
  19. The last I heard of this story was that older existing stoves were being 'grandfathered in' and didn't need to comply with the latest standards. It sounds like that might have changed. I say might because I'm not totally convinced that the linked article has gotten the story right.
  20. An elderly couple were at home watching TV. Bill had the remote and was switching back and forth between a fishing channel and the porn channel. Sally became more and more annoyed and finally said, "For God's sake, Bill... Leave it on the porn channel... You already know how to fish!"
  21. I'm surprised to see HH sell spuds with rebar handles. Rebar has a high carbon content making it quite tricky to get a good weld. Not to say you couldn't make 1 at home like Drifter did and get it to work, but it would prob be a hit or miss proposition. Really? Usually pies are round!!
  22. I don't think it's a waste of time. An important issue is the unclogging of our courts from irrelevant possession charges.
