Cottage/Resort 2-3 Day Rental in Kawarthas
boombap replied to fisherman7's topic in General Discussion
Check out http://fishnrest.com on sturgeon lake. Great fishing not far from the docks, clean cabins and the couple that own it are nice people. I remember a couple of years ago (when I was a rookie to boating) my impeller blew on my 9.9 merc.. Troy had no problem helping me fix it and get me back on the water ASAP. I believe their weekend rates are $110-$130 a night -
I don't remember the last time I used a leader. Strictly 20lb braid for me.

Awesome report man, great fish. The river has been a spot I have been meaning to check out for sometime now. It's quite the drive from Toronto so I would need atleast a weekend. Maybe ill play hooky from work sometime this summer.. For a week

Bridge's aren't as simple as 'repaving' Being in the industry, I have seen some nasty/high risk stuff that alot of times isn't taken care of, putting all of you at risk. Before you go and complain about your 'tax money' do some research.

I found a rod and reel on the road. Is it yours?- Owner Found!

Is there a Kawarthas Map with boat launches?
boombap replied to Raycaster's topic in General Discussion
I don't know of any maps, but if you go to http://www.kawarthaanglers.com each lake sub forum has google maps links to boat launches. Hope this helps! -
I've used mine to charge my deep cell batteries, takes a while but it does the job. It won't harm your batteries or the charger itself.
-
Yes it would, but imo that still doesn't justify it. It is a easy way for the owners to make a quick extra buck. If I am renting a home, do I have to let the landlord know every time a friend of mine has a bit to much to drink and passes out on my couch?

Need expert opinions on potential selling value
boombap replied to muskymatt's topic in General Discussion
I have a friend who has invested $20 grand into a 5.0 stang, and that's just the engine. It's a great car, but he knows he would be very lucky to get 8-10k -
Thanks for the replys guys.. Sorry duxbware but I really have my heart set on the kawarthas. Grimsbylander, I am in the same boat. If its not on a good lake, I would like something I could trailer my boat to -20 mins away to good fishing. One thing I find extremely Bull with most parks I have stayed at is that your guests have to pay a 'weekend fee'.. So letme get this straight, I pay my seasonal fee, I pay my docking fee, I pay the seperate electrical bill, but if I want to bring a friend up for the weekend they have to pay to sleep in my trailer, on my rented property? LOL!

Spinners, big jerkbaits and lots of weeds!

So the time has come for the family and I to get ourselves a summertime getaway. We thought about a cottage, but a second mortgage is a bit to risky for us at the moment, so a trailer will do just fine. I have only really looked around online, and it can be quite difficult being there are so many people selling. What do I need to look for when purchasing a used trailer? What about parks? I spent a weekend at dalrymple lake not to long ago and I loved it, really nice place. To my understanding lazy acres is the only trailer park on that lake.. Correct? I would like something on or close to the water with boat docking available. Can anyone recommend some trailer parks? The kawarthas would be my preferred location. Also, do most parks let you build a deck around you're trailer? What about a shed? Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ps. Letme know if you have something I may be interested in!

Yeah sounds like line is slipping, mono backing or some tape will take care if that. But yeah.. Shimano all the way.
-
any recommendations for a new bass rod?
boombap replied to BucktownAngler's topic in General Discussion
Shimano crucial Or a cheaper route, st. croix mojo bass- great rod for the money -
Is she strictly looking for a van? I would stay clear away from that thing. Why not try and convince her to look at a SUV? If seating is the problem, there are alot of reliable 7 seaters on the market.
-
Ill be on sturgeon

I use the velcro ones from bass pro. All they take is four 3/4inch screws that are included.. Screw them down to the deck and no problems.

I would say anywhere on the foot is bad. I have 3 right now on my right foot and it sucks.

Good stuff guys, thanks for the help.

That would be my next concern, is bottoming out. I have a shallow boat and the motor hangs pretty low. Would tilting it up be a bad idea?
-
Your right they dont cost much, it's just a matter of if I need one or not. I mean when do you know you NEED one? I think I would have to tilt the motor up while towing, I imagine it would swing left and right while making turns if it wasn't tilted up. Am I wrong?

Hello everyone. I have a 14ft aluminum boat with a 48inch beam, I trailer it 150+ km's pretty much every weekend. I run a 1992 merc 9.9 on it but I always take it off when I'm towing the boat. My transom is pretty strong, I redid it myself using 3/4 in marine ply sealed with 3 coats of 2 part epoxy. One is on the inside of the hull and the other on the outside pinching the aluminum with SS bolts. So give or take 1.5in total transom thickness. Do I need a transom saver? Do you think my transom is strong enough to take the beating of all that towing? I imagine hitting pot holes, speed bumps ect will bounce the motor around quite a bit. I'm getting sick and tired of always pulling off the motor.

I was on dalrymple all weekend, nothing but pike. This is coming from a dalrymple noobie.
