thanks for the heads up Cliff, fortunately my Valumart still had some around, Grabbed two, one will be cooked tomorrow (which shld will be a few dinners and lunches, or frozen). the other will get stuffed in the freezer. Wish I had a bigger freezer, cuz this would be great in the smoker. stay safe everyone

you went above and beyond doing the right thing. much respect Cliff, you're the perfect example of a mensch

much will depend on what season you plan to use the bunkie. I'd go along with others who suggest a wood stove. With 80 sq feet, you're not going to need a large stove. This is one I've been eyeing for a bunkie on my acreage for guests. not cheap but Cdn made and has good controls. There will be up front expenses but after that, you'll be on easy st. no propane to buy, no safety issues. just burn deadfall https://cubicminiwoodstoves.com/collections/cub-cb-108/products/cb-1008-br-cubic-mini-wood-stove?variant=11416837252

curious how reliable and quiet those generators are. Love my Hondas but that price makes for inexpensive backups (which really shouldn't be needed with hondas lolol)

Covid vacine, will you, wont you ?
woodenboater replied to misfish's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
I really thought China would be first out of the gate with a vaccine, well, because they can do whatever they want, and they have the willpower. But now wondering if their problem with developing vaccine and trials is trying to find enough people who may get infected. Their draconian early clampdowns may actually harm them as the virus is probably not circulating as much, as in, oh I dunno, the US and UK. Also I'm of the understanding, so far, that while it may very well be effective in preventing deaths/ serious health problems, it doesn't necessarily mean that one can't infect people. So masking and distancing will still be important for those who get jabbed. -
looks like the campground is gone, which is unfortunate. sleeping under canvas or nylon never gets tiring (usually). was hoping to get up there this summer but we all know how this year is going. maybe next...

if it was safer times and better weather, a chainsaw get together with other OFC'ers would have been a great way to fell those trees. Buck them up for the firepit. My chainsaw has been lonely this year too...

Covid vacine, will you, wont you ?

if Fauci gives it his seal of approval, damn straight. I have asthma and high bp so am higher risk. anyone who has asthma will know how brutal an attack is, and COVID-19 would be x100. and yeah, I get the flu shot every year. was lucky to get it second day it was available. -

Bow Fishing for Salmon in Port Hope 2020
woodenboater replied to PUMP KNOWS's topic in General Discussion
I felt a bit sick watching this video. hope dude with the bow gets a call from the mnr. also I hope there's a special place in hell for people fishing from bridges -
I hope your cousin recovers with no long term effects, and soon...and that he comes around to the fact that this virus is real and not a hoax.

I'd imagine LOTW is probably hurting pretty bad. probably more so than other lakes and lodges in Ont.

there's more to the Medicom story than what the Rebel has (a very shallow story tbh) The Globe and Mail has a deeper story that explains more. Bringing respirator, mask and ppe production to Canada is a no brainer imo, as healthcare will always be a strong market that will ALWAYS need these products. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-inside-a-crazy-year-of-rapid-growth-and-undeniable-risk-for-a/

I don't really think the 14 day quarantine guarantees much imo. the concern I have with it is that people can be asymptomatic, which a 14 day quarantine won't uncover. Considering the ages involved, the only way to be safe, and sure would be for everyone to get tested, ideally at a date close to the trip. I'm an essential worker and basically presume EVERYONE is positive, and/or asymptomatic. this is a line of thought some front line medical professionals suggest. it keeps you on your toes a bit more.

Covid19 impact on cabin rentals and fishing resorts
woodenboater replied to scuro2's topic in General Discussion
I was hoping to go back to Totem Point Lodge (Wolseley Bay) this summer but not sure I'll be able to. They've made some changes (for the better from what friends tell me) and would love to see what they've done. It's some beautiful waters there and the scenery is, imo, on par with the West Arm, but on a more intimate scale. I found the fish a bit more complaint in the West Arm area however and fwiw, there have always been lots of Ohio and Pennsylvania plates when I've been up. -

places to kayak fish near or in Toronto
woodenboater replied to Darius Langley's topic in General Discussion
Toronto Islands or Leslie St. Spit area. -
have used Royal Oak, Kingsford and Weber, and tbh, I haven't really noticed much difference between the three. Have also tired red Maple Leaf and same thing. I understand B&B is the best of the briquettes out there, but I can't seem to find it in Ontario. So, I went and got five bags of Kingsford from HD, well cuz the price was good. Hope I don't run out before the snow falls lol

I usually get my side and back ribs at either Valumart or Metro. The latter usually offering family bulk packs at a good price.
