  1. oh man, this bites. they shld own up to this because it's their mistake. you specifically requested a delivery date and whoever they used didn't do this. a partial refund is not acceptable in my book. if they refuse to make it whole, I'd be blasting them all over social media and let 'em have it. while I've never shopped there, I have friends and know restaurants who get their seafood from dinah's seafood, in Toronto. not sure if they have lobsters but I would guess yes. good luck and fingers crossed they do right.
  2. nothing like having home waters to work. esp if there are buckets and pike. still lots of summer left haha
  3. in my book, climbers, and fellers in BC are apex tree cutters.
  4. Went to a shop where I had propane work before (they do rvs etc.) They spliced the line and placed the valve between the tank and the smoker. Much finer control now.The place was somewhere near Bradford I think. Pretty sure it was called Panda Propane...Can't recall if it was a work while I waited, or came back another day.
  5. love my Masterbuilt propane smoker. Wish it was larger or I could find more racks. I had a needle valve installed to get finer control and lower temps. Smoke with a Weber kettle as well (using a Slow n Sear in it) but it does need more babysitting some days.
  6. do you mean Thermarest ? if you did mean Thermacell, I wouldn't be sleeping in a room with a Thermacell running if it were me.
  7. can't stress good tarps enough. Sitting in bug shelters is not my idea of fun, unless the bugs are horrendous. People can come and go without the zipper ritual. Shelter from shade and rain, and can be placed over the firepit, if high enough. and ropes/lines. bring way more than you think you'll need. you'll regret not having more when you can't tie things down haha
  8. Totem Point Lodge has updated their cabins/cottages in the past few years. Most of the people I've met there have been going for generations. One year, the matriarch of one family always made her way down the dock in the ayem (worse when the water was low cuz steep) to get into the one Giesler they had at the time. Used to go to Lakair but it's a bit different feel there now. Memquisit (on the West Arm) is on my list (friends have been going there for ages).
  9. lucky you going up to open up your friend's camp a co-worker just bought some property in the general area as well. super jealous. melting ice on the Big Lake is spectacular. also, LOVE me some fried smelt mmmm.
  10. just asking...how can a company respond to FB messages but not phone calls or emails ? hope everything works and the water and fish gods are good to you
  11. I have no stake in this as I've never, and likely never will use Aliexpress. Gamakatsu exports their product to their company in China (Gamakatsu Shantou Co.Ltd.). I wonder if the possibility exists that the Aliexpress hooks are indeed the og item *BUT* are product that failed the QC process and thus sold thru resellers like Aliexpress ? fwiw, I get all my terminal from either Sail, Cabelas, or BP. Sometimes Cdn Tire.
  12. if everything is okey dokey with the boat (no major issues) then $2500 (even if it's USD) is a steal !!!
  13. sounds like it's going to be a great summer but the passport, if you weren't joking, is going to be a gong show. long delays everywhere. probably easier to get an enhanced driver's license
  14. will have to check it out. wish someone had a done a doc on Ralph Bice as well. never got to meet him, would have been an experience.
  15. YIKES !!! guess I'll need to go in and make sure GPS location is disabled. thanks Bill !
  16. I believe it's not the meta data that's the problem but the visual cues in the photos. most will blur or crop out easily recognizable landmarks or locations, otherwise people will try to figure out where the photo was taken. imo, if it's a very popular and well known spot or community hole, I don't think I'd worry too much. if it were a known waterway, but a spot that doesn't see much activity, then yeah, I'll keep the location tight.
  17. welcome to our little corner of the world! btw, we luv photos. lots and lots of photos ! and trip reports. did I mention we love photos of big fish lol ?
  18. re:North GTA swap. hmmmm 🤔
  19. if one has room in the garage, good time to buy some 20lite gas cans and a bunch of Sta-Bil
  20. Any rally that has Swastikas flying proudly, loses any support from me. How hard would it have been for organizers to send them packing. This gave a black eye to the protest and any sympathy they might have gotten. don't get me started on what they did at the War Memorial...
  21. thanks Chuck. the two hut setup sounds interesting and great way to keep things tidy. but the idea of rolling over in bed when the tip goes down is super lazy but über convenient lol
  22. thanks all. now they're not sure if they can get the time to go up. but will still send them reccos. anyone familiar with reeds ? they're looking for space and so far hust don't look *too* close together, and I understand callander bay can be a gong show. I'd be tempted to haul out some pallets, set up my wall tent and stove on it. maybe bring a genny for some mod cons.
  23. someone suggested Primeau's Ice Castle, north shore. They got the recco from another friend so no first hand experience.
  24. Friend is thinking of going to Lake Nipissing to drop a few minnows down some holes. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good operator ? can be either condo or regular huts. quantity is not the main goal, just wants to spend some time on the ice and maybe stare at the stars at night. tia WB
  25. ask and ye shall receive...https://www.waterlilyturbine.com no experience with it but they also have blades that convert this to a small wind generator.
