That's a beauty pic Simon! Thanks for sharing! HH

You sir, have just acquired what we old guys call "experience". Anyone who can laugh at themselves is a welcome member. HH

I have always thought that the NHL was a man's game, played by men, or boys. The "wusification" of the NHL is starting to get annoying. Sedin got hit with his head down, I bet he'll be more careful next time out. That's something they teach kids early on in their hockey career. I also find it objectionable that there is retaliation after every hit, legal or not. I wish they would just get up, shake it off and play on, but that doesn't seem to be the rule anymore either. The way it's going, we are going to be watching a league full of Hammerstoms. Poor guy probably never had a scrambled egg in his life! HH

As they are a course fish and not a game fish, you can catch them any way you wish... net, snag etc... the bigger question might be WHY, unless you are going to use them as cut bait. HH

Like many others here, I have a pup here at home and from time to time, he gets a sour belly. We can't be sure what it is that causes it and it is only occasionally at best, but he does have times where he is either throwing up or pooping like crazy. A friend, who is a certified dog trainer, suggested that I give my Lab pumpkin. I know it sounds weird, well it did to me anyway, but canned or fresh, just give the dog a table spoon or so. I was quite surprised that he immediately ate it up and coincidence or not, he stopped throwing up. I hadn't heard of this before, so i thought I would pass this tid bit along as I know we have a number of dog owners here and maybe they could use this info. If it saves a trip to the vet, it's worth the $2.99 for a can. HH

Fishing forums that appreciate a fishing report?

Agreed. My thought was that if a relative newbie to the site read through this thread, they might not get the idea that posting pics can be detrimental to your fishing experience. I am not saying to not post pics, I am suggesting that one be prudent in doing so. HH -

I remember that report Drew and I can't blame you one bit for being put off. HH -

Your experience is not what others have found. You are painting everyone with the same brush. I guess you are going to need to experience it first hand, before you will change you opinion. HH Edit - and this by no means the first or last time we have had this conversation over the years. Perhaps a search of past threads would shed some light on the subject. -

I guess it was ten years ago! I used to fish Quinte from October, until the ice wouldn't let us on the water. Here's a pic of what we found one morning after the 2 hour drive from the GTA. Took us two hours to clear the launch of enough ice to launch. Honestly, having started fishing Quinte so long ago, well before the zebra mussels cleared the water and the number of boats out could be counted on one hand, I caught a lot of Pickereyes. The one in the pic is just another of many that were caught. Back in the good ole days, 20-30 fish per day for two guys was pretty normal. We got to the point where we wouldn't even take a pic of a fish, unless it was a teen. I got my PB there, it was 14.75lbs. This was well before the advent of digital cameras. So, the story of this fish isn't positive, but if memory serves me well, it was caught in a snow storm, just east of the Glenora ferry on our way out for the day. Probably in the 10lb range. The dude in the background is my long time friend and former PWT (professional Walleye Tour)tour pro. I learned a ton from him! HH -

Not a car guy, but appreciate the beauty! Music is my other source of joy and to that I have gathered some toys of my own. Yamaha SVB, re-issue of a bass originally released in the late 60's. Moon Jazz bass, made in Japan by the best luthiers they have to offer. Picked up on CL for a steal! Marshall VBA400 and Bergantino 6x10 cabinet. All picked up on CL for pennies on the dollar. This rig will eliminate constipation quicker than Metamucil. Rickenbacker 4003 - now gone! Beautiful instrument, just not for me! Just like a reel or rod is either what you want or not, this one just wasn't for me. The guy that bought it from me, well he's a happy dude! This pic was taken at an outdoor gig and few years ago. I know, nice shirt eh!!! Roscoe LG3000, boutique American made. I will be buried with this guitar!!!! Yamaha BB1100S - Main bass when I toured in the 80's. Sentimental value here! Pedulla Rapture - found this at a pawn shop. They wanted a ton for the bass, so I waited them out. After a year of hanging in the shop, with not takers, I picked it up for less than half of what they were asking for, after they "got sick of looking at it"! Thought I'd throw a fish pic in here, just to keep the masses happy! LOL HH -
Fishing forums that appreciate a fishing report?

Like I said, I have been here a long time. I have seen the board being full of reports and I to, took part in the fun. As this board has become the go to site for people looking for free information, mostly "guests", many have stopped putting up reports. Giving away free information to those unwilling to put the work in to develop their own hows and whys, has scared many off posting reports in areas that are within easy driving of populated areas. We have some members who little to no worries about this, as they live in out of the way places and have virtually no fishing pressure, in comparison to those who live in the more populated areas. Add to the fact that many of us, who have been here a long time, have been there and done that. Rolling around in four footers was something some of us were doing, when others were still in public school. I have already worn out the tee shirt and sweatpants I got for doing that for years. Back to the point of the OP... this board is a community, who's binding force is fishing. A long time ago, it was decided that in order to keep the board alive and viable, and given the propensity of board members to utilize the depth of knowledge and experience of it's members, we would evolve into a community and have discussions, like a community. Many of us have kids, jobs, you name it, that take from us the one thing we can't buy or manufacture, time. When I first joined here, well before the invention of dirt, I had virtually zero obligations to my time. Well, time has changed that and I am lucky, for now, to be able to get out when I can. As far as I can tell, that doesn't diminish my membership here, nor should it put me or any other member, in a position to be scolded by the community or just some members who are in different places in their life. MB2, I was not calling you out for whining, not my intention. My intention was to point out that you may have expectations that simply can't be met in a public forum such as this. That's what facebook is for. HH -
Fishing forums that appreciate a fishing report?

Having been around this place for a bit, I'll add my 2 cents. If you are expecting folks to chime in on your report, regardless of what it contains, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. No one here owes you anything. No one has forced anyone to submit a post and no one should expect anything back, that's the way of message boards. If you need social reassurance for your social networking presence, go to face book. That's what it's for. I am not saying don't post here or don't do a report, but complaining about not getting warm and fuzzies back from the community for your efforts in posting seems a little juvenile. You put it up on your own free will and people will either read it and comment or they won't. Expect nothing and at worst, that's what you will get. HH -
I see you have decided to run up the middle and take over the smiling duties, left absent by Lew's departure. Nice work. HH

What's going on in Syria is simply a replay of what happened there around 50 years ago, ethnic cleansing. Do some reading. As far as the election coming up, I don't envy anyone making a decision. It's becoming more and more obvious that there is so much more to what's happening, then is being spoon fed to the masses. As a measure of good will between our countries, I will volunteer Wynn for the job. We might even pay you!!!! HH

Sen's season opener was not sold out. I have to wonder if Ottawa's team might be in trouble. HH

My biggest concern was taken care of yesterday. I was concerned that the Jays would be sitting until Friday and might have to face a team that has had no break between games. The Indians took care of that by beating the Red Sox, so at this point, both the Jays and the Indians will have to fight to get their hitting/timing back in place. The other concern, would be playing in Cleveland at night. Our players are quite used to playing on controlled conditions. It gets pretty nasty by the lake in October, let's hope the Jays can handle it. HH

Probably put corn juice in it instead of premium. HH -
They will close the Cabela's locations, then build new BPS store's within a mile of current Sail stores. Once they have crushed Sail, they will close stores that aren't returning enough on investment. Profit HH

That sounds like a great plan Dan! HH

Maybe it's time the NFN to consider not netting the lake and taking advantage of their location and resources to open a resort/casino on Nip. To my mind, everyone wins, except those addicted to gambling! Shortsightedness has left the pickereye population devastated, which will trickle down to the wallets of everyone in the area. Resorts/casino's seem to be thriving elsewhere in the province, so why not the Nip region. HH PS - here we go again! I've got the popcorn maker out and await the usual results of threads like this!

Were you able to try minnows? HH

The plot thickens on the cod. It's apparently smoked. I am to steam it for no more than 8 to 10 minutes, so I'll give that a go when I try the first fillet. HH
