  1. I said that four pages ago Shane! HH
  2. Anything that could be kept? HH
  3. They used to hang horse thieves. How many countless dollars has this on-going enterprise cost the average person in insurance premiums, lawyers, repairs etc? and how much do we need to spend, before anything actually gets done? Never mind, there are no votes in pursuing this problem. HH
  4. I think Roloff needs his own rod!!!! HH
  5. We are the Knights who say Nee! As this is a fishing board, do we have to use a Herring to trim? HH
  6. It means that you learned something today. HH
  7. Towns like Port Hope would see a lot more money coming into their coffers if they closed the ditches to both spring and fall runs. That would mean that folks wanting to catch these fish would have to fish the big lake, launch boats and potentially stay in motels for a weekend fish. Launch fees alone would net the local economy more that the cup of coffee they sell to the odd fisherman. The fish win as they are able to re-produce without interruption and the local businesses win as they are not paying for clean up in their area and could net $$ from fisherman. So again, why are these fish being hunted during spawn? Imagine the fury if they opened Pickereye fishing during spawn? Pike, bass.... HH
  8. Probably catch flack for this, but once again the question that comes to mind is, why are trout and salmon the only game fish that are eligible to catch during their spawn? Close the ditches during spawn and problem solved. HH
  9. Yup, the shoot out sucks in any sport! I agree with most here, get back to the old method, It worked. Recall the TFC final a few months back. First time I watched a soccer game, (except for the woman"s Olympic team!) in my life. It was a really good opportunity for MLS to sell their game to city that isn't a soccer town. 120 minutes of no scoring, TFC's opponent DIDN"T GET A SHOT ON GOAL in regulation or extra time. TFC lost in a shoot out. Last game I'll watch! HH
  10. One thing to remember about Quinte is that it is big water and winds and waves can get stupid, real fast. Use caution and common sense when heading out. Hay bay is a relatively short boat ride from Picton. Head north out of the harbour, past the cement plant, Hay Bay is on your right. HH
  11. The key to success at Quinte in the spring is a couple of things to keep an eye out for... Water temp- look for warmer water in the bays that have access to deep water nearby. Find the edge and run small cranks, at or just above the bottom, stirring up the bottom will get you fish. As you will be in the Picton area, jigging at Thompson's Point could help and i would be more specifically looking in the Hay Bay area for warmer water and where it meets the main basin. Another place to try would be Forresters Island. Fish the shelf that runs along the north side of the island. Worm harnesses if you have them. HH
  12. OI, I don't have table salt in the house. I use Kosher salt for everything, can't figure out why anyone would use iodine in their food. HH
  13. Hold on! You went through ten pounds in a few days???? Colour me jealous! HH
  14. Dan, try cutting the fillets in to strips and dropping them in salted boiling water. Boil until they are no longer translucent. Cool off in the fridge, serve cold. Have some shrimp cocktail sauce handy for for dipping. Neighbour may ask to marry you!!! HH
  15. My father in law took a trip to Jamaica. He was sitting on the bus on the way from the airport to his resort. As he was looking out the window, a complete stranger looked at him and made the neck cutting motion to him. Not a good start to an expensive trip. Like most places, there are places to avoid and there are places to go. The tough part is being in the know. Friends just got back form an "all inclusive". They got zero service there, unless they were willing to tip every single "transaction" they requested. There are much better places to spend your vacation dollars, Barbados as an example. HH
  16. For those who get sea sick, try taking two gravol pills half an hour before you get on the boat. cold lbeer and hot tuna sandwiches don't stand a chance! HH
  17. Not as much as we enjoy be part of them Lew! HH
  18. Why does it seem that the majority of outfitters seem to be in the "Richard" camp? Such short shortsightedness can't be good for business, short or long term. HH
  19. Great pics!!!!! HH
  20. Anyone else notice in the pics that three guys are smiling and one isn't? (well, he might be under all the duck dynasty stuff!) HH
  21. Let's just say that it was advantageous that the hut was frozen into the ice! HH
  22. Our winter trip up to Bernie's place on Nip took place this past weekend. Bernie had hooked us up with his outfitter friend that put us in one of their ice condo's for the weekend. These folks were fantastic at keeping us well outfitted and fully baited. Fishing was pretty slow, with only four Pickereyes caught in total for the four of us. Nothing in the slot, so they went back. What did LI learn from the weekend? Well, four guys in an ice condo, confined spaces, one should probably consider the meals and the "results"! A word of advice to those willing to listen; -don't serve Brussel sprouts -don't serve steamed purple cabbage -don't serve heavily garliced noodles -don't serve beef barley soup for lunch the next day (Will it was delicious!!!) -don't serve corn on the cob after all of the above! We left early Sunday as there was a concern with the weather and what could have resulted in a "three hour tour". The fishing was slow, so we didn't feel like we were going to be missing out. The other guys have some pics, hoping they will chime in with them for yah! Thanks again Bernie! I'm still hunting down a copy of "Ray"! HH
  23. The Perfect Man A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, "Perfect timing. You're just like Frank." Passenger: "Who?" Cabbie: "Frank Feldman. He's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time." Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody." Cabbie: "Not Frank Feldman. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy." Passenger: "Sounds like he was really something special." Cabbie: "There's more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman could do everything right." Passenger: "Wow, what a guy!" Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! He never made a mistake. No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman." Passenger: "How did you meet him?" Cabbie: "I never actually met Frank. He died and I married his wife." HH
  24. Be aware that Nip has a slot that would make it difficult to be bringing any fish home. (Pickereye) HH
  25. Now that's a fatty... HH
