  1. A couple of things that come to mind... -tylenol as you never know when/if you are going to need it -jaw spreaders for pike HH
  2. Nice properties on the east side of hwy 69, but a lot of people! Busy place with existing cottages and camps. I would be checking on the west side of hwy 69, in the Hartley Bay area if indeed, you are seeking more privacy. You will likely be off the grid there... HH
  3. The only thing that disturbs me about Plant based foods is that I did not invest in companies making this crap as their stocks are going through the roof! I could then afford to buy more Prime Rib roasts! HH
  4. Many of the U.S. owned cottages in Ontario are legacy cottages. Wealthy families escaping the heat and humidity of the mid and southern states. Rail lines provided them transportation to and from and no, they don't like to do things themselves, they don't at home, why would they here? Nothing wrong with it, they helped pay the way to better infrastructure and jobs locally, which helped to open the the north. Let's not forget the taxes they pay. Where we take our vacation, the vast majority of the cottages are American owned. They are almost always empty. Makes for a nice quiet stay for us. Sorry for the off topic response.... I think musky baits are just swell! Especially the furry ones! HH
  5. "We;re gonna need a bigger boat!" LOL HH
  6. Shag, I'd BBQ Froot Loops if they didn't fall through the grill! HH
  7. Awesome Brian! Congrats to all! HH
  8. 0 for 75 in a day and half of fishing last weekend! We let some fine eaters go back being short about an inch. We referred to them as "market fish" as that is where they are going to eventually end up! HH
  9. Google shows Ready Powersports in Mississauga as carrying the Yammy. HH
  10. And I'll add to Lexx's comment, watch for in coming thunder storm, they can move pretty fast. HH
  11. It would be shame to get sawdust on that nice clean floor! HH
  12. I guess it depends on what "anything" means to you. To me, it means wins and a cup, everything else is lip service after 50+years of frustration. Historically, players got paid for accomplishments and accomplishments in this world are defined by wins, playoff wins. Tying up money for players who you hope will win is a fools game. and that all said, I am a huge Mariner fan... HH
  13. The Leaf's are already paying many people lots of money for not having done anything yet. I'm guessing that Marner's family just want him to get paid lots of money for not having done anything yet as well!? HH
  14. Now don't get me wrong, I think that if it's available to you and you want to use it, have at 'er. I see nothing wrong with using technology and no, I've never seen a fish caught on electronics. That said, I have used electronics to my advantage and will continue to do so, but to say that the playing field is better now than in the past, I'm not so sure that can be substantiated. I think better equipped fisher people are putting more fish in the boat. HH
  15. And we have technology today that not only shows us detailed pictures of everything underwater, we also have technology that will drive us to our spot and put us within 10ft of it every time. And it will hold us there as well. HH
  16. Take a look at the large white coloured fish, those are Halibut. They come in the same way they lay on the lawn, sideways! Hence the dinner platter comment. Darker coloured fish are BC cod and considered a delicacy on the west coast. I won't bother posting the pics of their crab fishing adventures! Enjoy your trip Dan! HH
  17. My niece taught high school in Prince Rupert for a number of years. She had many first nations friends who would take her out with them... here's a pic of one of their catches... HH
  18. It will be like trying to reel in a dinner platter from 150ft straight down Dan.... expect sore arms and shoulders. HH
  19. I thought Carey handled that situation as well as anyone could expect. To say that I was disgusted that the NHL would take advantage of the kid and his losing his mom in order to make themselves look good, would be an understatement. It was a cringe worthy moment. Kudo's to Carey as I think he knew that they pushed the kid too far,, he did his best to support the boy. HH
  20. Agreed... can you imagine the uproar that the "Spotted Carp" crew would raise if they closed the trout season until well after spawn? They wouldn't be able to refine their flossing techniques or a s mentioned, toss the eggless body back in the drink. Where would the fun be? HH
  21. But they are still on their spawn and they have to run the gauntlet to do the nasty. As a result, we end up stocking the lake so that fisher people can catch them while they spawn. Seems like a double standard to me... HH
  22. Tell that story to the trout and salmon every spring. Why is one species open game and others aren't? HH
  23. Yup! Hence the name Ontario Fishing Community... we talk about everything here, not just the outdoors. Probably one of the reasons this board has been around as long as it has. Hang in there, no one wants to see you fail here, just wanting to ensure that you have your duckies lined up tail to beak! HH
  24. My talents lie in other areas Chris, as you well know! HH
  25. Welcome to the world of on-line forums. You'll get some of the info your looking for and a lot of what you are not. You gotta weed through to find what you want. Good luck to you! HH
