  1. Can't be me, the guy has talent! HH
  2. A piece of black electrical tape on the lense of the dash will block out that light. Problem solved! HH
  3. Power bars are useless for power surges. In order to get real power surge protection, you need to spend big bucks! A $15 power bar is not going to be able to do that for you. A power condition will do that, but $$$$$$! You may have an opportunity to get some money back from your power supplier in Barrie, if you can show them that their dirty power is what killed your TV. A quick call to your provider will give you the info you need. Good luck Brian. HH
  4. Best guess Brian is that you have a wonky power supply in the TV. Likely, it didn't like the spikes sent through the lines during one of our many thunderstorms and your power supply has taken the hit. It Samsung is anything like Panasonic, the power supply module is around $500 to replace. I'd be looking at Costco for a replacement and buying the 5 year extended warranty for $60. Sorry to be the one to pass along bad news... HH
  5. Brian, try buying salt that doesn't have Iodine in it. Salts like Kosher salt don't have Iodine added. You may find that they will work better than regular salts. HH
  6. I have zero regrets with this trip. The most relaxing trip we have ever taken. And I don't begrudge the folks working there augmenting their income with tips; it is after all a third world nation. With that said, equating our lifestyle and theirs is a lose situation. They simply don't have the resource base we have, in a country half the size of Lake O. HH
  7. They make him look taller! HH
  8. Yes, I did tip them every day. They earned it as far as I'm concerned and I was prepared to do so. (Thanks Art!) HH
  9. Back from a fantastic trip to Jamaica! The Butler service was awesome! Once they learned what our habits were, they had everything taken care of for us. Honestly, this was the most relaxed vacation we had ever taken... I find myself wishing I had my own full time butler! HH
  10. Thanks for all the responses! I'll be sure to update this thread upon our return. Grim, I don't see it as a problem at all, except the fact that I have never had a "servant" before, so other than treating them the way I would expect to be treated, I thought I would post this up here to seek out other's experience. The butler comes with the room, which is an upgrade from the standard rooms available. Happy endings are not in the brochure, so I don't expect I'll be dealing with that! LOL My biggest concern is more weather related. So far, it's looking like we will be between any current storms and that is all I can ask for, unless the butler has skills I am not aware of! HH
  11. That's livin Simon! Thanks for posting this, it sure helped to raise my spirits! "Just gotta get it past the Pike"... made me LOL HH
  12. My wife and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this month. We are headed to the Caribbean for a week and our hotel room comes with a butler! I'm not one to have others do things for me, so this will be a completely new experience for myself and my wife. Anyone ever had a butler before and what should I expect and or ask them to do for me? thanks, HH
  13. I still have my OFC toque I picked up from TJ at the fishing show at the International Centre back when Christ was a carpenter. HH
  14. I didn't recognize him by name, but I sure remember his avatar and reports. I hope this ends well. HH
  15. I have deer that visit my backyard from time to time and I can say that a 6 foot fence is not going to slow them down on bit. HH
  16. Update... he can hear the transducer pinging in the driveway. The main unit seems to be running rather warm, it's warm to the touch. He did contact the folks in Woodstock, Angling Specialties and it looks like a new unit is in order. Thanks to all who chimed in. HH
  17. https://www.sail.ca/en/shimano-canne-a-peche-a-la-traine-tdr-8-pi-downrigger-m-2-pcs-163651 I would suggest this rod. They can be found at BPS on sale for under $30.00 from time to time. I wouldn't cheap out on the reel though... a line counter reel is best and many like the Okuma... HH
  18. Thanks Brian! HH
  19. Thanks guys! That was my feeling as well, but I sure appreciate you guys chiming in! HH
  20. Hey folks! I am asking this question on behalf of my brother. He has a fishfinder' that has GPS, temp and speed. I think it's a lowrance. Recently, it is not marking bottom, but all other functions work as they are supposed to. The transducer was checked for proper location, tilt and connections, all looks right. The unit is fairly old. Would it be a reasonable idea to simply change out the transducer? Is this the likely culprit? Ideally, he does not want to buy an entirely new unit. Any advice appreciated! HH
  21. I was in BC last week. I can't help with this fishing, but I will suggest that you invest in some sort of smoke repellent/face mask as the fires are out of control and everywhere! We could smell smoke on Vancouver Island all week long. I understand that it is even worse now than when I was there. HH
  22. Thanks for trying Brian! I hope you liked the tune? HH
  23. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7ngGOlna0A&start_radio=1&list=RDK7ngGOlna0A Can't get it to open up in a window!!!! They sound like AC/DC to me! HH
  24. Just bumping this to the top as the fires are still going and they are getting closer to the highway according to the latest news I have heard. Anyone with updates are welcome to chime in. HH
