Here's the funniest part Phil.... Once I got it un-packed, I suggested that we put it in the front window, so everyone could see it... I got that look! (if you are marrried, you know the look!) I then suggested that perhaps the mantle on the fireplace, in the family room, where it can be seen would be better... the "look" intensified! I then suggested that it would make a great lamp beside our bed, as it has a nice soft glow to it's light... I didn't know that a face could look like that! So, as of now, it's sitting on the kitchen table, awaiting the verdict on it's final placement... I just hope that it doesn't meet with an untimely demise! HH

My wife got me this lamp! I know most of you are jealous, but it is a major award and is obviously quite fragile.... HH

Still, my favorite fishing show! I met Red at the London Fishing Show in the late 70's. He was tucked away in a motor home, signing autographs. He a copy of his book of poemsfor me and my buddys.. We did notice that there was a distinct "aroma" inside the camper... if you know what I mean! While we were there Red suggested that we check out a certain retailer who was selling tackle at a very fair price. He showed us a floating lure that he bought from the guy, it was called a Spinididdy... basically a larger version of the Tiny Torpedo, dressed in frog colours. My buddies and I raced over to buy as many as we could afford. Heck, if Red told us to buy it, there was no chance that we were going to let that tackle tip get by us... I still have the lure and yes, I have caught quite a few fish on it! We spoke to him for what seemed like hours... gotta love that guy! I would really like it if they could find a way to capture the sound tracks of Red's fishing adventures. If you recall, there was no sound taken during his fishing with guests, just their commentary while watching the show with Red in the studio. Man, I can only immagine the colourful language and jokes that had to be flying, during their filming. Might not make it to long on regular TV.LOL If there was a fishing show like that on TV today, I'd watch that! HH

I had been making plans to get my two kids out for some Perch on Simcoe this weekend, it would be their first time ice fishin. My 9 year old son has been itching to get out and my 8 year old daughter is pretty keen as well. However, given that we would be white bucketing it, with no shelter, I have been forced to postpone this trip until next weekend given the forecast temps and high winds. I don't want to turn them off on their first trip by freezing their little ba doop do's off on their first try. So, I have decided that we will stay home this weekend and I will do my best to find the bottom of some beer bottles! (2012 has not started off very well!) So my biggest problem is.... yup, lager or ale? What do you guys suggest??? HH

I like the idea of the Italian dressing! I have used instant mashed potatoe mix instead of bread crumbs with great success... thin crunchie coating... HH

Good shooting guys!!!! Great report and the smiles say it all! thanks for posting! HH

Covering expenses does not equate to profit... as a business, you need to make a profit, control your costs and develop new business. At best you are treading water, based on what I read here. Find a part time job that will augment your income and still allow you to develop your guiding business... as for your "friend"... that's a very generous usage of the word. HH

It pains me to say this, but I have to vote out of the playoffs.... based on current personel and their collective performance. They seem to know how to lose, but just don't know how to win... and I predict that Wilson will be gone in April, regardless of his one year extension. It was a no brainer for Burke to add the extra year to Wilson's contract... can't have a lame duck coach on a team fighting for a play off position... and the money involved in Wilson's contract is peanuts, to this oprganization. Back in high school, late 70's eary 80's I had a girl friend (believe it or not!!!) who's mom drove a 1968 VW Beetle. She drove it every day for 10 years and never changed the oil... EVER!!!!! She took it to a machanic because it was not running well and after discovering that it had never had an oil change, he told her to drive it till it stopped... which if I recall correctly, was for another few years! True story! HH

Stayed there back about 4 years ago with my family, my brother and his kids. Fishing is pretty good, especially in and around "the magic" hour. We tried many different artificial baits, but we did our best using jigs and worms... pretty much guarrantted a nice Pickereye meal, every time we went out. Key locations for us were high current areas, where the river narrowed, then opened up to a larger bay. Any other questions, let me know! HH

That sucks! perhaps FishnAutographs will chime in with some knowledge... But I have to question... why not just use "The Force" on the cop....? HH

Couple of years ago, we pulled two guys out of a 4 foot snow bank, 10k out on Simcoe... they were driving a Matrix!!!!! They had to follow my tracks to get off the ice... best part, neither had gloveson, when they were trying to dig out their car!!! HH

BB... the Obama administration killed the pipeline to Texas as they felt that giving the green light to such a project, in an election year, would not help garner the democratic votes he needs to get re-elected... but, that being said, you can count on this issue being re-visited very soon after next fall election... And that's why god invented lead core! Typically we use 1/4 oz hotnTots on Quinte in the spring... and using lead core when trolling the flats is an excellent way to dial in the exact depth you want and be able to repeat based on success... in the fall, 1/2 to 3/4 oz HotnTots have also done well... but I gotta admit that I am less than fond of reeling the 3/4 oz in, unless there's a fish on it!
