  1. You know Slayer, you're right... I guess I defer to the "preference" of the board ownership. As far as who you are and how many posts you have, well, I can attest to that statement as well... when I first joined here, I was definately on the outside lookin in... and that didn't sit well with me, so I did something about it... I made an effort to meet up with as many folks on here as possible... I can now state that many here are friends, some very good friends. You can only go so far typing... You get what you put into a place like this... HH
  2. REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have got to be kidding me... condoning illegal activities at any level is not cool! And a huge plus a million to what Bill said! HH
  3. Well, I just re-read the o.p and frankly, he got off light! I certainly understand the desire to keep new folks here and interested in fishing, but based on what I read in the other thread, no one stepped over the line, well, except the OP as he did not follow both MNR rules or OFC rules. When he accepted an account here, he agreed to the terms of use... had it not been for a quick working mod, that thread would have gone nuts with folks tearing the OP a new one... No different the another thread currently on here referring to "The MNR sucks". Glad the guy caught a nice smallie, but he should never have posted that pic on any board. Telling the community to go fly a kite, just adds salt to the wound. AS usual, all this IMHO. HH
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't local police be interested? Do they not work hand in hand with MNR in these situations? Kudo's to you for trying. HH
  5. When I lived in the Beach area of Toronto, my wife had a lab/pointer mix... His favorite toy was a hard plastic bone, so I drilled a hole in one end, ran a 12 inch leader through it, and hooked it up to my muskie rod. Took the dog to the neighbourhood school and started casting... the dog loved it! We did get some strange looks I would burn it in, that bone would dance across the grass... the dog would go nuts! Head shake were awesome! I also had a cat that I would use a 5ft ultra-light on... so to speak! I'd flip for him in the living room... much to my wife's chagrin. HH
  6. Hey Fil, Web site will be updated shortly to reflect up coming gigs... the benefit for Speacial Olympics will be on Phillip Murray at the new sports complex, over looking the lake in the Shwa... more details to come... next gigis May 12th at a place in Whitby called Sham Rocks... just east of the four corners... HH
  7. Thanks for the nice comments folks! We had a blast... the only reason we do it! Would love to see some OFC'ers at our next couple of shows! We've been asked to play a fund raiser for the Special Olympics that will take place on May 19th in Oshawa... that should be fun and obviously a really good cause. Thanks for posting the band web site Will... yes there are some "off the floor" snippets on the band web site. Heck, like us on Facebook... I really can't believe I said that! Thanks again! HH
  8. Those are some trojan Perch BB! Way to go! What time is the dinner bell? HH
  9. Although the "dishwashers" in the pic Wayne posted performed their jobs effectively, one could here the whining a moaning coming from them... HH
  10. Awesome! What a pig! HH
  11. Or, you could consider moving closer to the Lake (LakeO)as that is where the majority of you fishing time is spent. I hear Oakville has some nice places! Good luck Emil... and one word of advice... just because the "specs" say something, doesn't necessarily mean that it will do it well! HH
  12. It would look good right under my roses... that's a big minnow! HH
  13. I believe that when everyone is treated equally, then we will not have any of these issues... HH
  14. Not to mention the collateral damage caused by netting Nip… but I guess that the more things change, the more they stay the same… I would like to hear from Crossfire on this though... he has shown a willingness to discuss this issue in the past and I hope he is willing to do so again... as long as we here remain respectful...toward him. HH
  15. Well, at least Nip is still beautiful area to spend some time... not necessarily fishing.... HH
  16. If ya like catching the coarse fish and are in London again, may I suggest the following... -100 yds downstream from the Greeway Park train bridge... big sandy beach... huge carp and suckers... -the break wall in Greenway Park, right beside the large parking lot, a bit upstream from the Wonderland Bridge... That should keep yah plenty busy! HH
  17. I think Rex hit the nail o the head in last nights comments... Copied and pasted for you enjoyment... What do you call a hockey team that issues apologies? IKEA. And where does that happen? Why in Toronto of course, centre-ice for the ‘losing-est’ franchise since the invention of the puck. It’s said that Don Cherry sheds tears on his high-collared neck every time he walks past the Air Canada Centre when the Leafs are playing. We all know what he’s feeling. How long has it been since the Maple Leafs won a Stanley Cup? Or even made the playoffs? It’s been so long the time-scale is geologic: glaciers have melted, the earth’s plates have shifted, dinosaurs (Harold Ballard) have vanished, since any Toronto newspaper could front-page a Leaf victory. I’ve checked on Wikipedia. The earth was young when the Leafs had men on the team, understood that the purpose of the other team’s net was to shoot pucks into it, when the thought of losing to some American team with Ducks in its name was an unspeakable impossibility. Think. History buffs may remember these names, from the days before The Fall: Mahovlich, Keon, Armstrong, Horton, Bower. They were the kind of players that made up a team that earned them a word not heard so much in Toronto today: winners. Winners. The last time that word bruised the lips of anyone around the Air Canada Centre, he was arrested on the double charge of reckless falsehood and criminal optimism. Aware that Toronto Hockey has equal suspense and less esteem than the city’s annual Duck Regatta, the club’s owners - just back from the piling up the bullion in the counting house - this week decided that after yet another year of empty dreams, flattened hope, crushed expectations and broken hearts they should apologize to the team’s despairing fans (it’s not known if they sent flowers). They are buying full-page ads of apology. Is this a hockey team, or a band of overpaid flagellants? Did The Rocket apologize? Howe? Hull? Lafleur? Orr? Lemieux? Of course they didn’t. They could play hockey. They were too busy winning. 45 years out of the finals - longer than it took the trees to grow, that supplied them the wood, to make the hockey sticks, they don’t score with. Whole forests have been felled for no real reason. You apologize after 2 or 3 losses, or even 5 or 6. You do not apologize for a 45-year losing streak. You go into exile, or take up ping-pong, or selling vacuum cleaners. In other words you leave the scene of the country’s worst sport’s crime. Playing in the country’s biggest city, filling the arena for every losing game and losing season - you don’t need to apologize - you’ve lost the right to apologize. “Sorry” is not something you get to say. “Sorry” is something you’ve become. For The National, I’m Rex Murphy. And for OFC... HH
  18. There's a company that just got lucky! Congrats Cliff HH
  19. Cliff, a small pebble, inserted into the valve stem of their vehicle, will slowly drain the tire of it's air... and when they go to refill the tire, the stone will fall out and they will not be any wiser... Some times people suck! HH
  20. I used to catch them on th Thames River in London... never used a lure, but this technique worked... -we used live minnows, the smaller the better. -we used treble hooks and wrapped the whole minnow around the hooks... sometimes even using more than one minnow. - we would suspend the treble/minnow below a bobber, with no more than a foot of line between the bait and float. They will tow your float around... wait till yah can really feel them pull and lay the lumber on 'em! I never caught any over three ft long, never saw any that big... but I can tell you that they are not a fish that likes to fight... once you get their snoot up and out of the water, you can motor boat them in.... Still a decent way to pass a hot summer day! HH
  21. Wow! Well I can guarantee that I would get zero work done should I have that kind of fishery in my back yard... Great pics, beauty Pickereyes and great kid shots! Killer report! HH
  22. You know Doc, as a life long Leaf fan, I have seen a long line of GM's toddle their way through the hallowed halls of Maple Leaf Gardens and on into the ACC. Each had their goals, their "style" and each, at least in my life time, has failed. (I was a 6 when they last won the cup) I'd be the richest guy in Hog Town, if I could find a real reason as to the continued rate of failure... I presume that the answer lies in a number of reasons vs one. I the mean time, this Leaf fan hasn't yet decided who to cheer for this spring... May be Go Jay's Go!!! LOL HH
  23. Good eats would be my guess... although that said, I personally don't care for the flavour of Quinte eyes.... HH
  24. As has been said, you are going to get small fish this time of year... biggins have already headed back to Lake O... 1-4 lb range and the occassional gator/water goat/silver bass/white perch.... HH
  25. Trolling 1/4 oz cranks off of lead core in Big Bay. Look for breaks in the water temps where shallow bays meet the main body of water and troll the temp breaks... I use lead core as it allows me to easily repeat depths and dial them in on the flats.... anything with purple from a crank perspective... HH
