  11. There was a rumour floating around that certain people on this board swear by Jumla Lures........
  12. Marty, I believe that this is current. A quick call to the Border Services Agency before you leave might be a good idea. As Roy said get a copy of his birth certificate notarized from your legal council.... In a change from earlier plans, U.S. and Canadian citizens ages 15 or younger with parental consent will be allowed to cross the borders at land and sea entry points with certified copies of their birth certificates rather than passports. U.S. and Canadian citizens ages 16 through 18 traveling with school, religious, cultural or athletic groups and under adult supervision will also be allowed to travel with only their birth certificates. Answer: As customs officers are always on the lookout for missing children, being prepared to answer the custom officer's questions is critical. Specifically, * Have children's ID ready to present to customs officer. * Divorced parents who share custody of their children should carry copies of the legal custody documents. * The Canada Border Services Agency suggests identification such as a birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport, or immigration document. If none of these are available, get a letter stating that you are the children's parent or guardian from your doctor or lawyer, or from the hospital where the children were born. * Adults who are not parents or guardians should have written permission from the parents or guardians to supervise the children, including the name and contact information of the parent / guardian * Even if you are not divorced from the child's other parent, bring the other parent's written permission to take the child over the border. Include contact information so border guard can call the other parent if necessary. * Adults / Guardians should travel in the same vehicle as their children when arriving at the border. * Children old enough to speak for themselves may be encouraged to do so by the customs officer, so be prepared to let older children answer the officer's questions. For more information on bringing children across the Canadian border: Tel (from outside Canada): +1 (204) 983-3500 or (506) 636-5064 (long-distance charges apply) Tel (from within Canada): +1 800 461-9999 (toll free) Website: Border Services Agency
  13. Hey Paul, he probably said gimmie the fish and $2000.....................
  14. June 12, 2008 The Hamilton Spectator If you're headed to Turkey Point Provincial Park anytime soon, pull out the DEET bug repellent. Researchers have found Lyme bacterium in ticks within the park. The bacterium was also found in ticks in neighbouring St. Williams Crown Forest. Lyme disease develops into a debilitating viral illness if left untreated, with symptoms such as headache, fatigue and muscle aches. Visitors and park staff should use DEET as a tick repellent, says the Lyme Disease Association of Ontario. After a park outing, people should do a full-body tick check. Anyone infected with the bacterium from a tick bite may develop a homogenous or bull's-eye rash. Both rashes expand in size and disappear as the bacterium disperses within the body. The rash is the only clinical symptom. Some experts say 90 per cent of those infected get a rash while others say less than half. http://www.thespec.com/News/Local/article/384873
  15. So sorry to hear about your Mom. I have been through it three times in the past two years, both my parents died from lung disease and my daughter is a cancer survivor. The only piece of advice that I can offer is to spend as much quality time with her as you can. Each day that passes you can never get back. My thoughts are with you..... I generally don't offer much advice on the marital front because there is always a high probability of being wrong. However, if there is one small thing that that worked for us for 34 years, through two kids and 5 grandkids, it is compromise. Barbara and I have very different ideas about a lot of things, but we recognise that and make allowances for it. I think that you need to determine first how you both feel about each other and whether the right reasons were there in the first place. If they weren't, then the solution is obvious and at your age and the fact that there are no kids involved things should be fairly simple as long as you both focus on the solution and not on screwing each other. If by some chance there is love to be salvaged then personally I would do whatever is necessary to try to work out whatever has changed between you. Best of luck Stoty, sometimes we have not seen eye to eye but PM me anytime if I can be of help. John........
  16. Great report Gavin. It has been many years since I wet a line over there. Makes me very thankful for the resources that we have here. Nice area that you have relocated to. I have cousins who have places not too far from you in Bucks. They are the from the rich side of the family...
  17. Great start to the season Lew. See you at Lakair.
  18. Thanks as always Drew. Amazing report.......
  19. Great looking reel, but they put the handle on the wrong side bud!
  20. Thanks Sinker. I am not an East Coaster but I do miss the sea terribly. It looks to be a very special place, I will get there soon.
  21. I think that you have got comments on tipping on charters from a pretty good cross section scuro. On a thread like this you can expect some detours and can't expect to dictate to us what and what not you would like to hear!
  22. John & Barbara makes 15
  23. OK, I'm not going to reply to any specific post here, but, I think that some of us are missing the point. Tipping, in my humble opinion, is a reward, or a thanks, for a job well done, and...........certainly, is discretionary. Not as an incentive for better service now or in the future. That in itself automatically assumes that one expects the service will be less than excellent. A mate on a charter generally works his or her tail off to make "your" day enjoyable. If they don't they generally don't last more than a trip or two. If they do, they are certainly worth 15% of the cost of the day. I tip relatively well in restaurants, if the service deserves it. If it does not then I don't. I over-tip breakfast waitresses. In general they get stiffed by the majority and by the restaurant owners when tips are left on credit card transactions. I have seen a waitress work her butt off to serve a table of 8 or 10 breakfast then get $5.00 at the end of it.
  24. Truly amazing Cliff. Thank you for reminding us why we come back here every day. The amount of work involved in putting something like this together is incredible.
  25. Well said Art, agree 100%.
