Health Minister outraged by SCofC pot edibles ruling. NF
John Bacon replied to fish_fishburn's topic in General Discussion
That does not mean that it does not cause harm when smoked on a regular basis over a long time period. I have never heard of anyone dying because the smoked too many cigarettes at once. However, there are pleny people who have died from the long term effects of smoking a pack a day. Do you consider water to be hazardess to your health? There are known cases of people overdosing and dying from water. Drinking several litres of water in a short time period can be fatal because your body cannot deal with that much water in a short time frame. However, drinking reasonable quantities everyday is not only harmless, but necessary for survival. I don't think that measuring the amount of a substance required to cause a fatal overdose is particularily relevant to indicate the health effects of long term consumption. Having said that, I still support legalization. Adults can make their own choices; even when those are not good for them. But, lets not pretend that it is harmless. -
He does have some good and funny points. https://youtu.be/oQaAU38sZC8

I have a pair of 10 x 50s. I don't have trouble with shaking. They are big and heavy. Smaller ones would be better if you want to carry them anywhere. A tripod may not help too much in a boat. If the boat is rocking then the tripod and binoculars or camera rocks along with it. You might get away with it if you are very still in dead calm water.

Love you leaving less of a mess in the bathroom; or, for 'enhanced performance' in the bedroom?

Good point; I think the new Evinrudes add a foot or more compared to other motors.

If he landed the muskie and it was of legal size, would he have been able to keep it? It was caught using a walleye for bait. Even though the walleye was not intended to be bait, that is what it ended up being.

Better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

Yes, that is pretty much how it works. But, you don't get the numbers on the same day that you apply for them.
-
If I remember correctly, as long as you have applied for a license you can use the boat. I am pretty sure I had to wait for my license numbers for the Alumacraft that I bought in 1994. It would make sense that there would be a few people still waiting for numbers for new boats that they purchased this spring.

Bug report, Parry Sound, Whitestone area??nf
John Bacon replied to Court R's topic in General Discussion
Black flies were brutal in the early evening in the Mac Tier area on May 23rd. Not too bad during the day but really came out in force during the early evening. I didn't notice any mosquitoes. -
Actually, in the main body of Lake Ontario they don't spawn until after the season opens anyway. The MNR had some information sessions on this a couple of years back. I wouldn't be surprised if the the other great lakes were similar.
-
Not only are bass late spawners, but they guard their nest until well after the eggs hatch. For most fish, once the eggs are laid the spawn is done. However, bass will stay and guard the eggs and even guard the fry after they have hatched. That explains the late opening. I am not sure why it is closed for winter. They don't seem to bite much through the ice so it probably wouldn't make affect the population too much if they allowed ice fishing.

To the best of my knowledge; tiger muskies have never been stocked any where in Ontario.

Shipping a truck from Edmonton to Toronto

Would he have to pay the PST when he registers the truck in Ontario? -
Can't back up a trailer? Ford has an answer for that...
John Bacon replied to Gerritt's topic in General Discussion
Consistency is more important than the exact method that you use. Switching between the mirrors and the back window is confusing because the mirrors give you a mirror image of what is happening while the window shows you what is happening. Most people seem to prefer the mirrors but looking through window should work too. Swtiching between the mirrors and the window will usually be confusing. Similarily; if you always place your hands in the same place, you learn how the trailer reacts when you move the wheel. If you put your hands in a different spot every time then the trailer reacts differently depending on where your hands are placed on the wheel. -

If your hand is on the bottom of the steering wheel then the back of the trailer moves in the same direction as you move your hand. If your hand is on the top of the wheel, the trailer moves in the opposite direction of your hand. Some people may find having the hand on the bottom of the wheel more intuitive. -
thinking of buying a gopro?....might want to wait NF

I have Muvi brand camera that is similar to a GoPro. The downside is that there doesn't seem to be any stores around that carry accessories for it. If you want to buy extra mounts, etc. then having a GoPro would be an advantage. -

I think this one ups the cool factor. https://twitter.com/YahooCanadaNews/status/601879713003532288/photo/1 -
That should save a bit on fuel. New we just need a diesel kicker so we run everything off one tank.

Hmmm, if the launch ramps are stored in the GPS then perhaps the truck can back it in all by itself... just hope nobody is standing in the way. -

The Lily is designed to follow and focus the camera on the person who launched it. It won't fly over someone's yard or outside someone's window unless the person who launched is standing there. It won't film a scantily clad sunbather unless the person who launched it is right beside them. Other people or their property may be included in the picture; but they will not be the focus of the filming. A standard drone can be controlled to fly over people's property to determine who has the best items to steel or hover outside of someone's bedroom or bathroom window to film private moments. A standard drone can easily be used a tool specifically for the purpose of filming intimate photo or casing properties for potentional theft. The Lily is not as suitable for that use. -

Yes, but it would be less of an issue with this product than it is with a standard drone.
