This one is a little quicker than most... http://www.outdoorhub.com/news/2015/06/26/video-worlds-fastest-pontoon-boat-awesome/

My boat is sitting too high in the bow.
John Bacon replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Terrovas are available in 12, 24, & 36 volt models. You only need three batteries if you require 100 pounds of thrust. If you can manage with a little less thrust then you can buy a 24 or 12 volt model. -
Are you looking at brand new or slightly used? If it is new you can get an extended warrantly and CAA Plus to aleviate some of your concerns. It may still end up being cheaper than other vehicles. An extended warranty may still be an option on a used 2015.

Never use steel wire brushes to clean BBQ grates

Only for Quebec. -
For the first time in atleast 40 years the Leafs are looking to do a long term rebuild. Leaf's management even commented about this year's draft choices; they are not drafting players that can move up the NHL quickly. They were okay with players spending three years in the minors before moving up to the NHL. They don't need players who can contribute over the next three years; they need players who can contribute in 4, 5, or 6 years from now. It makes sense to trade Kessel, Phaneaf, Lupol, etc. for younger players or draft choices that will help the team when the 2015 and 2016 draft choices are ready to contribute.

Charging trolling motor batteries with outboard
John Bacon replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
What year is your outboard? The older ones do not require a battery to run (pull start motors run fine without a battery). The electronics in newer engines can be damaged if a battery is not connected to the system when they are running. I not convinced that this will accomplish what you need anyways. Electric motors draw a lot of current; generators on outboards don't provide a lot of current. -
Has anyone tried Orcas with Dipseys or in-line-planer boards on the bigs lakes for salmon, etc.? I broke a Scotty Quick-Draw with an in-line planer on Lake Ontario. The Orcas may be a good replacement if it is tough enough.

It used to be a pretty good muskie lake before the pike arrived. There are probably still a few left, but pike and bass are the main game fish now. There are also a few walleye and some lake trout; check for slot size on the latter. Do you know where on the lake the cottage is located? I have had a lot of luck with Len Thomson 5-O-Diamonds for pike. I have also had luck with spinner baits, husky jerks, rattle spots, jigs for pike and bass.

Coyotes picked up Dylan Strouse. Leafs select Mitch Marner.

Just witnessed a 14" muskie being taken, what should I do?

Was the 14" with or without pinching the tail? -
My boat is sitting too high in the bow.

Does it still sit with the drains below water when you first put it in the water after trailering it (I assume that you remove the drain plus when you trailer it)? If so, that may be where the water is getting it. Sealing your splash well may help; but you may just have too much weight on the transom. -
Unfortunately, gas and restaurants are probably the highest risk places to use your credit card. Pay at the pump should be fine; it's when you lose sight of your credit card that it gets comprimised.

I think I have saved over $10 grand on vehicles via credit card points. I currently have over $2,000 available right now... it can also be used for boats too I was also able to get a two month old 51' Plasma TV replaced earlier this year via credit card insurance. I have also earned Air Miles and discounts on gas via credit cards. There are a lot of benefits if you only use them for what you can afford to pay.

Crazy Deal on Buffs!!!! One day only!!!
John Bacon replied to DRIFTER_016's topic in General Discussion
These type deals seem pretty common from this company. I definitely wouldn't pay the listed price for these seeing as 75% or 80% off is pretty common. I did order a set a few days ago. Hopefully they will be here soon. -
I have never used one myself. The only one that I have ever was in the $3,500 price range... a little out my snack bracket.

Harrassing wildlife.

You can probably tow a 14' with a class I; but if you are going to get a truck you may as well get a class III. There isn't that much difference in price; and then you can tow pretty much anything. A class III hitch can also be used for bike racks. If you are buying from a dealer, they should take care of the trailer plates for you. If you are buying privately then you will need to transfer the trailer ownership. Plates can be transfered, or you can get your own. Four wheel drive is nice; especially in late fall when the ramps may be icey. But you shouldn't have any trouble with two wheel drive on most ramps. If you are using your boat regularily, the main battery should not need to be recharged... except over the winter.

They do. Some of those have been permanent changes to the laws. E.g. Laws have been changed to allow culling of bass, pike, and walleye in order to accommodate tournaments.
-
True, but they can still charge you for failing to produce a license when asked even after they have confirmed that you do have a license. A few years ago someone posted about having their rod and reel confiscated even though the CO had called in to confirm that they did in fact have a license. With modern technology, perhaps they should relax a little about the need to have our licenses with us.
-
Legally, you would either have to drive back and get your license or turn down the offer to go fishing. You could report your license as lost and get a replacement. That is probably not technically legal because you cannot have two licenses at once. If you were to destroy the first license once you get back then there really isn't much chance of being charged. I am not sure whether you can get replacement license right away. I lost mine once, the MNR mailed a free replacement to me; it didn't take too long. You might get one right away if you went to Service Ontario or a retailer that sells licenses. The other option is to just go and take your chances. The charter captain may or may check for a license. The odds are that you won't get checked by a CO. When is the charter by the way? Any chance that it falls within the license free fishing in July?

Isn't that the kind of thinking that has prevented the Leafs from building a great team all these years? They gave up Tukka Rask, three first round draft choices, two second round draft choices, and a fourth round choice for Andrew Raycroft, Vesa Toskala, and Phil Kessel. With a little patience, the Leafs could have Rask and six draft choices (Three 1st, Two 2nd, and a 4rth rounder) instead of Kessel. A proper rebuild takes time; it is going to require a few bad years before they can build a solid team. It is frustrating that they didn't start back in 2005/06. Midway through the first season after the lock out it was pretty obvious that the team was not a contender and that a rebuild was required. If they had started then, we might have had a shot at the cup by now. But they chose to make short term decisions instead. It is frustrating that we have to endure a few years of bottom feeding after years of missing the playoffs; but the alternative is another decade or two of teams that struggle to make the playoffs.

What could have been... for Chip and Dale
John Bacon replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
That's okay. A family site is no place for Chip and Dale videos. -

Krates Marine receivership. There will be an auction on boats there. http://www.680news.com/2015/06/17/boats-on-sale-for-bargain-basement-prices-after-krates-marina-receivership/

Does it have to be absolutely free? When I was given notice by IBM it cost me about $100 to have it reviewed by a lawyer.
