  1. Nice work. Do you have something to prevent the pressure treated wood from coming in contact with the aluminum? I understand that pressure treated wood can cause corrosion in aluminum.
  2. The Pickering nuclear plant is schedule to cease operations in 2020. Ontario Power Generation is seeking input on how to use the land after the shut down. You can email your input to [email protected] More information is available at: http://www.opg.com/repurposingpickering You can also attend open houses at Pickering Recreation Complex on Thursday April 23 from noon to 4:00pm or 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
  3. The Costco in Markham had marine batteries in stock today. I would expect the other stores to have them soon. I have had good luck with Walmart batteries. Buy two 12 volt batteries for now. If you eventually get a 36 volt motor I would recommend three new batteries rather than mixing one new one with two old ones. As other have mentioned, batteries are almost always 12 volts. You can get 12, 24, or 36 volts by connecting them in series.
  4. A lot of the dollars spent on the Atlantic program are donated specifically for that purpose. Using that money for other species is not an option. And some of those dollars are spent on stream rehabilitation. There is some hope for the Atlantic stocking. The new strains, Sebago and Lac St. Jean are now in the system. These strains do much better in the hatchery. The Lehav salmon are extremely sensitive. There water needs to be heated in order for them to feed, they die if you turn the lights on too quickly, half of them die when they are stocked. The new strains are much more resiliant... at least in the hatchery. Hopefully, this will translate into better returns. Stocking the Lehav strain over the last 40 or so years has been a waste of time. I think the Sebago and Lac St. Jean will do better.
  5. Some of the events are in Toronto Harbour. You could watch them while fishing.
  6. LEDs will draw less current and could in theory be safely run on a lighter or longer cord.
  7. Lake Ontario isn't.
  8. There are two sides to the equasion. Water inputs, and water outputs. If the inputs are down, there may not be much they can do. For Toronto, I don't recall having one single significant rainfall so far this spring. We have had a few light showers, but nothing significant. I also don't recall getting any snow in January. Has the rest of Ontario had similar weather? If Toronto is any indication, the water inputs from snow melt is well below average and the water inputs from spring rain has been virtually non-existant. Lake Ontario levels are also way down from pervious springs. I think the issue may be a lack on inputs rather than an excess of outputs.
  9. At least it was someone ahead of the Leafs so they don't drop back one spot.
  10. That may be in part because the Sens fans are often out numbered at a home game. If there were enough Sens fans for them to feel safe; they might be more obnoxious.
  11. It is legal to have them in your live well when you are on the water. Transporting live fish over land is illegal. If you drive your boat there you should be okay. If you load your boat on a trailer with live fish in the well while you drive your trailered boat to the marina, then you are breaking the law.
  12. Are the low water levels limited to just the Kawarthas? Lake Ontario looks low to me.
  13. The Kawartha Lakes system drains into Bay of Quite in Trenton. Neither the Whiby Harbour nor Oshawa Harbour are receiving any drainage from the Kawartha Lakes.
  14. Remember also that it is illegal to target out of season fish even if you release everything that you catch. Looks like you will be fine in Whitby Harbour. Maybe I will give it a try myself.
  15. I don't have a specific company in mind. But if you use your boat from December 1st to March 31st make sure there is no lay up clause. Many policies restrict coverage during this time slot.
  16. Lake Ontario, including some bays and harbours, is zone 20. As others have said, pike is closed right now in these areas. http://www.ontario.ca/document/2015-ontario-fishing-regulations-summary
  17. Or, we could just have fewer babies... which is what most of the industrialized nations are doing.
  18. That would be good; but I don't think they have the staff to do that. They usually seem to only have a couple of COs per region.
  19. Later in the season you can head straight out to where the water drops off; not too far where you are. You are actually in a good area for summer fishing.
  20. I don't think that charging would be an issue. There may be an issue with starting the motor. Starting the motor requires a lot of current; extra length adds extra resistance. You may need a heavier gauge wire. The battery may not last as long if it is the bow of the boat. The extra pounding it gets in the front may shorten the life of the battery.
  21. Boston is not quite done yet. It is between them and Pittsburg for the last spot. I think it is a long shot for Boston because they need to beat Tampa, who still have a shot at the division title; and Pittsburg would need to lose in regulation time against Buffalo.
  22. Every team that misses the playoffs participates in the draft. However, the odds of winning vary from 20% for the last place team to 1% for the best team to miss the playoffs. So there is a very slight chance that Pittsburg could miss the playoffs and win the lottery; but that pick has been traded to Edmonton. There is a 9.5% chance of Toronto winning; 45% of Toronto keeping the fourth pick (Buffalo, Arizona, or Edmonton win the lottery); and a 45.5% chance that Toronto drops to fifth.

  24. They would troll deeper than a floating rapala; but are still a relatively shallow trolling lure. I have never actually counted down when trolling; but I have trolled them and caught fish.
  25. I woundn't. Crosby alone isn't going to transform the Leafs into a contender. They will still need a few years to rebuild. By then Crosby will be on the downside of his career while McDavid will be approaching his peak. Now, if the 1/100 chance that the 17th place team gets the pick then I would make the trade because he just may take the team deep into the playoffs... assuming that they have the cap space.
