  1. Thanks again everyone for you support. There is definitely one outcome out all of this.... I will be fishing at the Cobourg Harbour immediately after the trial. I am by all means not organizing an event on August 22nd, but I can't stop you from fishing yourselves. Be forwarned though, you are on your own responsibility for a good chance of receiving a warning or a ticket. Myself, I will be on the East Pier at 1:00pm provided I am out of court at that time. Cheers, Ron...
  2. Thanks for the offers everyone. At this point in time, I won't need any financial assistance. However, if this motion gets carried to the next level it may end up being a little on costly side. I can't say any more for the time being but the Town of Cobourg lawyers will have some work on their hands. The most important part for the time being, is getting the reversal on the right to fish in Provincially legislated waters. As for moral support, lets hold off on that as well until the next court date as I am certain there will be additional court dates. This will be a preliminary I assume. Cheers, Ron...
  3. Just an update for everyone. I received my court date for fishing in the Cobourg Harbour. It is set for Monday August 22nd, 2011. For those of you who fish the tribs in the Town of Cobourg, wish me luck! The bylaw they charged me under, they could essentially fine everyone who fishes on Public property owned by the Town of Cobourg. I will post the outcome once all this hoopla is over. Cheers, Ron...
  4. Been gone for a few days. That is great news to hear Wayne!
  5. Residents of Ontario and Canada under 18 years old, or 65 years of age or older and in possession of any licence, permit, certificate, or identification card issued by the Government of Canada or a provincial or territorial government of Canada that indicates their name and date of birth. Those who qualify to fish with a deemed licence must follow the same catch and possession limits as a Sport Fishing Licence. This information can be found on page 4 of the Ontario fishing regs. Cheers, Ron...
  6. This one for thought Lew, Not seeing the whole lay out of your property, I'm thinking they built the rock garden around that one boulder. I have a 9000lb tandem dump trailer, we could either jack em up with the dump on the trailer or the other option would be to get a load of top soil and bury them deeper (just a thought).
  7. I don't get a ride home, I just get the tickets.
  8. Now that right there is some funny stuf! Always nice to see people you know make it in the paper. Cheers, Ron...
  9. I don't know, too much boat traffic for me! Awe inspiring trip Bud. Well worth the wait for the report. Cheers, Ron...
  10. Glad to help out Wayne, it's the least we can do. For those of you who are still debating, quit sitting on the fence and let's set her OFC goal to $4000.00 raised! It just takes a few dollars each, sacrifice one fishing lure in honour of Jennifer. You won't regret you did it. Here is the link to read her story/Youtube. Heel'n'Wheel - Jennifer O'Shea Cheers, Ron...
  11. Congrats Jen! You broke the $3000.00 mark. Perhaps next time, you can set your goals a little higher! Cheers, Ron...
  12. Now how did I miss this report???? Looks like you boys had a stellar trip. Were you guys able to get into Rea Lake or Teapot Lake? We are hoping to explore Kelvin Islands this year. I am making room for an additional 40 liters of fuel in the boat for the trek. Ahhh, the excitement of exploration! Cheers, Ron...
  13. A very well written article by Terry Curtis in regards to no fishing in the Town of Cobourg. I hope everyone has July 1st open on their calendar, I know where I am fishing that day. Perhaps send him an email yourself as well in support of this. The whole article is right here: Wake up folks, and smell the fish Cheers, Ron...
  14. Yup, certified cheques are everywhere. I got dinged on a boat once from a fraudulent certified cheque. Lost everything, I even had this guys drivers license number and the Police couldn't do anything as the Dl was counterfeit as well. Better off to get him to send you the cheque, cash it and ensure you sit on the funds until the cheque clears with the bank. Usually up to 5 working days. Once the cheque clears, he can then come up to pick up the machine. Look at it this way, the guy is from out of town, a long drive if he is staying overnight just to buy a 4 wheeler. Is he really saving that much money on the 4 wheeler or is this 4 wheeler that rare of a model? Cheers, Ron...
  15. If I was reincarnated as a fish I hope it would be an Essox ehcolid majestic. This fish species hasn't been discovered yet but would scare the pants off of beautiful women.
  16. Thanks everyone for your support and more importantly, your opinions, good or bad. Seriously, the bad opinions are well received, just the same. A few items that need to be clarified for those of you who do not know the area. The fine I was issued, is in reference to: Consolidated Parks By-law number 064-2010 A By-law to regulate, protect and govern the use of parks, public open spaces in the Town of Cobourg. Protection of Wildlife 8. While in a park, no person shall: (1) Kill, attempt to kill, trap, hunt, pursue or in any manner disturb any animal, bird, waterfowl, FISH, worms or any other wildlife, provided that provision shall not apply to any person, fishing in Provincially or Federally legislated waters unless otherwise posted; Subsequently, if you read the article posted in our local News paper (link here), you can take judgment to your own opinion. As I posted above on this thread, the By-law 79-91, clearly shows where you are NOT allowed to fish. The signs posted on the hand rails, Transformer stations, clearly show this as well. For those of you who have any doubt where I was fishing, I was on the EAST PIER. Clearly the EAST PIER is NOT listed in BY-law 79-91. That is the reason why they did not charge me under this by-law. There is no doubt the Cobourg Harbour is Provincially or Federally legislated waters. I have documents on their way to prove this. I have spoken with several levels of Goverment, to name a few, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Service Ontario, Ministry of Natural Resources, Special Lands and Waters Assessment Unit. I will be attending the next council meeting to speak in regards to the By-laws. This has drawn much attention in the media. I have had a couple of radio talk shows contact me and I have also had 2 other News Papers contact me as well. To be clear to everyone, There is no By-law restricting me from fishing where I was. They have charged me for hunting/trapping/ killing/ attemping to kill a fish. The sergeant would not agree the harbour was Provincially or Federally legislated waters. The sergeant also told me the New By-law (Consolidated Parks By-law number 064-2010) over rode the By-law 79-91 as it was a newer By-law. 2 of the responding Police Officers, questioned the act of the By-law, in fact, 1 Constable refused to issue the ticket as he was too embarrassed to have his name affiliated to the charge. Another point worth noting: The by-law they charged me under, 064-2010 section 8.1, if I do not take this to trial, they can charge everyone who fishes any lake or stream, body of water in the Town of Cobourg. This could potentially put an end to fishing for trout or any other species for that matter, in Cobourg. Once again, I am not concerned for myself, I am pretty sure people will vouch for me when I say I fish all over Ontario, I do not need to fish in a Harbour and be a rebellion against the Law. When you see kids getting bullied by adults, by-law enforcement officers and Police officers, telling them they can not fish in the Harbour, someone needs to protect these rights for the kids that enjoy fishing. They should not have to feel like a criminal for enjoying the Natural Resources. Cheers, Ron...
  17. I got same problem. I ended up moving my antenna. Hind sight, I should have put my fish finder on a gimble mount and located it in a better, user friendly location.
  18. Oh come on! Give us some teaser pics at least! Cheers, Ron...
  19. Right on! Good, no, great to see the opportunity of the business moving in a positive direction! I feel honoured to know someone that has been on the Dragon's Den. Good luck and look forward to the final outcome. Cheers, Ron...
  20. So, how big is your deck Kelvin? Cheers, Ron...
  21. This will be the first opener I will miss in many years for Muskie. I don't mind though as I will be getting my gear ready for my annual trip North!
  22. Start collecting those packing peanuts. You can get them at many of the U-haul centres. Other option would be to purchase the 2 part system at a marine supplier or possibly at CTC. I do recall seeing it there at our local store a few years back.
  23. #@%$ you! ha ha ha Cheers, Ron...
