  1. Hey all, Just a quick update about my meeting with the Town of Cobourg Parks and Rec committee. Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Mike Brown and myself will be having a general meeting with the town on Wednesday afternoon to discuss what I hope to be viable options for fishing within the Cobourg Harbour. I just want to thank OFAH and also Mike for stepping up and giving much needed support to ensure that people will still be able to fish in the Cobourg Harbour. I will be sure to give an update on this matter after the meeting. Cheers, Ron...
  2. You don't need gloves at all with these unless it is really really cold. Your hands won't sweat in them either.
  3. Thanks Terry, I will have to look into this and see if I have an application for this product for work as well. Cheers, Ron...
  4. Thanks Terry, Now, that underwater camera that pans 360.... where did you get this, and how much was it? This sounds a whole lot more usefull for what I want. Cheers, Ron....
  5. Hey all, Does anyone have or has tried the remote underwater camera tripods? I am thinking of picking one up for ice fishing as I have noticed in the past, you can have the camera set up and either a fish swims by or when you hook into a fish the camera swings and then have to spend a fair amount of time setting it back up to get your field of view again. So, if anyone has any experience or preferences on which brand to get, where to get them, that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ron...
  6. Did you hear about the Beauty Contest in Newfoundland? Guess who won.... NOBODY!

I am glad you renewed nofish4me. I had a doubts a few times as well, for the most of it, I think they do a great job representing the angler and hunter. Sure there may be a few items or agendas I don't agree with, (at the moment, I can't think of any), but I strongly believe in what they have done for stream rehabilitation and scientific data which was collected through the Atlantic Salmon Project. Having OFAH support on the issues with the Cobourg Harbour is just icing on the cake. Cheers, Ron...
  10. Ted Ted Ted... You missed out on something more fun than Perch today. You could have witnessed me slam the truck door on the tip section of my trout rod.:(:(
  11. Just curiuos as to the new gear people have picked up for Ice fishing this year. I have down sized my hut from the Clam Yukon to the lighter weight and smaller version Frabil DLX Trekker. As I have been spending most of my time fishing for Crappie on the Kawarthas, I have also purchased a portable hand held "inspection camera" by Milwaukee. Well, the camera is for work, but I sure am excited to try it our through the ice! So if you know of anyone that is interested in buying my Clam Yukon, it's up for sale. I have already erased all the X's on the side of it though, so you won't know my Fishing spots. Well, what did you guys get?
  12. Last day Muskie fishing last year was Dec 15th. First day Ice fishing last year was Dec 16th. The scary part??? They were both on Rice Lake!
  13. Best video I've seen yet. Cheers, Ron...
  14. Jen is on tough cookie Wayne. She is an inspiration to all of us. Cheers, Ron...
  15. So sorry to hear this news Mike. Having only met your father a few times, it was very easy to see where you got your humour from. He was a great man, husband, father and grandfather. Most of all though, he was a great friend to everyone who met him. Your family will be in our prayers tonight. Your friends Ron, Terri and the kid who let Jade win the Mike Swan trophy.
  16. Thanks Roy, No groups or clubs were asked for help prior to the MNR asking me to give a brief presentation at one of the advisory council meetings. Exactly Dave, It is rather unfortunate we have to go through all this just so kids can fish. As the Cobourg Police Chief said "I would much rather see 3-4 kids fishing at the harbour rather than 3-4 kids getting into mischief".
  17. Hello all, Some great news! Mike Brown and I will no longer be challenging the fishing bylaws in the Cobourg Harbour alone. I had an informal site meeting with representatives of OFAH and they have openly offered to work with us to ensure there is still fishing allowed with in the Harbour. Personally, this has taken a great load off my back. I look forward to the day of seeing kids not being harassed for fishing from the pier. Our first meeting with the Cobourg Parks and rec committee will be held on Dec 14th, lets hope all goes well from here on through! Thanks Mike for your guidance in the right direction to move this forward. Cheers, Ron...
  18. So, here I am enjoying my lunch and a knock on the door is heard. Low and behold Big Cliff is at my doorstep hand delivering a sample bottle of "Nok Out". He claims to say he was just in the neighbourhood but I know differently, he wanted to meet the famous Ron! ha ha ha Cliff gave me a quick demo on this product, I must say, it has many more uses than just odour control for hunting. Cliff goes on to tell me of the many uses this has, from eliminating cigarette smoke odours in the car to controlling litter box odours from cats. You know that musty smell you get from the leather seats in your boat? Well give this stuff a spray or 2 and I know it will take care of it. This is not a scent blocker in the sense that it adds another scent to hide the foul odour. This product attacks the enzymes that creates the original odour and neutralizes them. So, once again, the perks of being an OFC member, you get to meet great people! Thanks Cliff! I look forward to trying this stuff out. Cheers, Ron...
  19. A new Ontario record that is! Existing record is 39.88 lbs Nice!
  20. Geesh, a good thing you are in great shape still Lew.... with that many candles an all on a cake! Hope you had a great day Lew. Cheers and heres to many many more! Cheers, Ron...
  21. Oh come on guys, I'm sure you would all do the same if you saw the situation. Hey thanks for all the kind words. Mike P, ha ha ha, my daughter would think of it differently! ha ha ha Steph was still happy to see Jade fight that muskie like a champ! Garnet, too funny brother! roflmao!!! Tonka-Toy, had a great chinwag with ya. Look forward to the next time we happen to meet up. Special thanks to OFC, if it wasn't for this place, I never would have met up with half of my fishing buddys. Cheers, Ron...
  22. Thanks everyone. I had an "on site" meeting with representatives from OFAH today. It went very well. This is of great interest to them as well and are going to carry on with me to ensure there is fishing within the harbour of Cobourg! For anyone who is in fishing clubs, talk to your chair members to see if a letter of encouragement could be written up showing the positive reasons for having kids getting an interest in fishing. I think the town council has forgotten they were kids once too. Cheers, Ron...
  23. Just an update for everyone. I received a letter in the mail in regards to my fine for fishing in the Cobourg Harbour. They have dropped the charges as it is legal to fish where it is otherwise clearly posted. However, the by law is under review and they are still potentially going to close the harbour to fishing. I have a meeting set with OFAH in the following week to see if this is of interest to them as well. Once I have the meeting with OFAH, I will be setting a date to address the town council. Cheers, Ron...
  24. Fishing with my brother, I always catch a walleye when he pours himself a Tea! My favourite saying in the boat "Come on, scare me!" I say it several times during the day and more time than not, I feel the "tick" or see my line "twitch".
