Oh come on guys, I'm sure you would all do the same if you saw the situation. Hey thanks for all the kind words. Mike P, ha ha ha, my daughter would think of it differently! ha ha ha Steph was still happy to see Jade fight that muskie like a champ! Garnet, too funny brother! roflmao!!! Tonka-Toy, had a great chinwag with ya. Look forward to the next time we happen to meet up. Special thanks to OFC, if it wasn't for this place, I never would have met up with half of my fishing buddys. Cheers, Ron...

Thanks everyone. I had an "on site" meeting with representatives from OFAH today. It went very well. This is of great interest to them as well and are going to carry on with me to ensure there is fishing within the harbour of Cobourg! For anyone who is in fishing clubs, talk to your chair members to see if a letter of encouragement could be written up showing the positive reasons for having kids getting an interest in fishing. I think the town council has forgotten they were kids once too. Cheers, Ron...

Just an update for everyone. I received a letter in the mail in regards to my fine for fishing in the Cobourg Harbour. They have dropped the charges as it is legal to fish where it is otherwise clearly posted. However, the by law is under review and they are still potentially going to close the harbour to fishing. I have a meeting set with OFAH in the following week to see if this is of interest to them as well. Once I have the meeting with OFAH, I will be setting a date to address the town council. Cheers, Ron...

Fishing with my brother, I always catch a walleye when he pours himself a Tea! My favourite saying in the boat "Come on, scare me!" I say it several times during the day and more time than not, I feel the "tick" or see my line "twitch".
-
In the boat, I always call last cast. About a dozen or so casts later, i say out loud, "Be the bigger man" and put my rod away.

One thing for certain, If it wasn't for clubs such as CRAA, many many many projects would not get done. I look forward to the day of being able to say "See I told you so, I knew the Bring back the Salmon project would work". Regardless, this is still a win win situation for ALL cold water fisheries. The scientific information collected, the stream rehabilitation, and the many partnerships created to fund this project, just to name a few. I always said, you only get back what you you put into it. Not saying everyone who is against this but I bet a generous number of the nah sayers have never contributed as much as an hour towards the fisheries.

It seems like I just can't get away from this stuff! I heard today, Hamilton Township is considering closure of the Public launch ramp (unmaintained). Apparently there are a few residents complaining about parking issues. There is a meeting being held at the Gores Landing Library on November 10 at 7:00PM. Anyone who uses the launch ramp in Gores Landing would be in your best interest to attend. The issues around the use of launching is mostly because of owners of vehicles illegally parking. Inconsiderate people once again are ruining a public space for all to use. For further information on how you can help to keep the launch ramp open, contact Plank Road Cottages at: [email protected] Be sure to include launch ramp closure in the subject line.

There is no problem with line twist. Like I said, it was from the way I spooled it up on my reel I could notice the twist in the last 5 feet or so. Cheers, Ron...

I have had the privilege to field test the new Super Slick. It's been on one of my reels for well over a month now. Fishing pretty much every weekend for either smallies or walleye, this new line has stood up extremely well. I have been using it on my GLX 852 with the spring back guides. For anyone who has spring back guides, you will understand the noise you get with any braid. The most noticeable difference off the hop is how quiet Super Slick is going through the line guides. The next thing you notice, the diameter is smaller hence the additional distance you can cast. I was a little sceptacle at first with the new line as when I first used it, you could see the line twist. Easily found out though it was how I spooled it on my reel. I got the line twist out by opening up the bail, let the line out and do a short run at about 10 - 20 mph. It takes a knot very well too, no need to learn new knots which is also a bonus. Cheers, Ron...

No special knots required. I use a uni - uni or the triple surgeon for joining braid to floro. You can use the palomar or improved cinch on the business end. High lb test lines 65 or more, a friend of mine, (lets just call him 36" BOB) has shown me a knot system for joining braid to your leaders. Take and form a 12" loop with your braid, do the double or triple surgeons knot. To connect your leader to your main line simply pull your braid through the loop of your leader and pass it back over. (It would look like a palomar knot when finished.) Easy to change leaders when needed and the surgeon knot will actually catch the floating weed as opposed to fouling your lure.... sometimes. Cheers, Ron...

I have had the opportunity to try out some of the NEW "Super Slick" made by Power Pro. I gotta tell ya, I was very impressed with the stuff. I am trying the 15 lb for walleye and smallies. Thinner diameter than regular PP and very very very quiet through the guides. I am ordering a 1500 spool of hi vis yellow to spool all my reels with. You won't be disappointed with the 6lb for perching. Cheers, Ron...

Nice way to show Jade Mike! Too funny! Seems like the Muskie GODS were helping out everyone this weekend. Cheers, Ron...

To me, it looks like you are trying to put the power up wire into your transducer plug in. Last I recall, there is not 3 wires coming from the transducer. However, there is 3 wires coming from the power cord and the power cord hooks up on the opposite side of the HDS 5

Dude, you need to change your avatar. Got anything bigger to put up? Wait a minute, how about your MONSTER Muskie you caught, seriously! Cheers, Ron...
