  1. And here I thought this was the picture Lew was going to post on Kijiji...
  2. Crippies! What's this, pick on Ron day??? lol Cheers, Ron... Just for the record though, yes it was a 14 hr drive.... one way.... We did however put a couple of 43" Pike and one almost legal Brookie in the boat in those 3 hrs of fishing! Don't ever believe Environment Canada when they forcasted 4k winds for the weekend and ended up with wind gust up to 90k!
  3. Strength and determination runs in her blood lines I think. Oh and Wayne, you were making me nervous for a moment there! Whew, good thing you directed that to Joey. Cheers, Ron...
  4. You know I'll be putting forward Wayne. Just in due time. Cheers, Ron...
  5. If you wanna fish HIGH water the color of Chocolate milk, come on down. The Ganny for an example was about 2ft from going over the banks. Still more rain in the forecast. It will take at least 4 days in my opinion to be fishable. Cheers, Ron....
  6. It will be option #2 for me. If I can't get out fishing somewhere, I'll be more than happy to spend my 20 + 10 (split on parking) for a day of entertainment. I will look forward to watching the dog shows, speaking to the reps on their new products, look at new product. If I am lucky, I will be able to compare products without having to go to several different places. I don't ever plan on going to these places to expect a deal... on tackle. If I was in the market for a boat, ATV or some other big ticket item, then yes I would expect a deal. To say the show is a rip off, you are right, best for you not to go as you will only get in the way of people who really want to spend the time on learning how to be more successful angling, hunting, etc... To say there are no deals to be found, how about you buy more than 20.00 - 50.00 worth of product from one vendor. I know I will be putting about 500.00 - 800.00 into someones till. Cheers, Ron...
  7. I'll echo that statement. This guy should have lost his fishing privileges for life. That goes for Henry as well.
  8. I have checked for this problem in a few places. On 3 occasions, I found the dryer vent not functioning properly. In one instance, the dryer vent was attached but the duct was full of lint not allowing the moisture out. In another situation, the dryer vent hose had a tear in it. The third occasion, the additional auxiliary fan was not operating thus didn't allow proper air flow to the exterior of building. I have also had bathroom exhaust fans not work properly as well. Take a tissue, turn the hood range fan on, put the tissue up against the filter. There should be more than enough vacuum to hold the tissue in place. Try this with your bath room exhaust fans as well. How long does it take to dry your clothes from the dryer? Do you think it takes longer than 25 minutes to dry a load of jeans? If so, check for moisture coming out of the dryer vent, on a cold day preferably, to see how much moisture is exiting. There should also be a substantial amount of air blowing out as well. Ask to check your neighbour's dryer vent for comparison. Hope this helps. Cheers, Ron...
  9. Nice going Ted! We will have to compare notes.ha ha ha
  10. You put a lump in my throat with that message Wayne. I was going to go fishing today, fortunately I got called in to work late last night and opted to "sleep in" today. Good thing cause I got a chance to get caught up on "life" with my kids. Cheers, Ron...
  11. The pan fish festival has moved to the OFAH Heratage bulding due to the high winds. It has been relocated draw prices will be given out at that location.the Heratige bulding is located at Duchrie Drive Peterborough.
  12. The few that I know of are: Most of them are multi species. Ice and open water fishing you have Chris Giles Outdoors (highly recommended), Jimmy Dodd at Rice Lake Hut Rentals (905) 797-2132 and Sedgie at Lets Fish Guiding
  13. One thing to keep in mind in my opinion is: Where do you have to send them to for warranty? After warranty service? I bought a case of Stradics (5 in a case) just before Christmas. Very happy I did. My reels were in dire need of updates. I am looking at buying 2 more, thinking about the CI4 but will prolly just end up getting the mgfb's.
  14. I have owned both of them. Below you will find video of both of them working and they are both from a cold start. I prefer the newer model with the Solo engine. Very dependable, easy to use, no fiddling with the choke, has primer bulb. I don't recall for certain but I think the Solo was a lighter oil mixture as well which meant it burnt cleaner. Both motors were powerful. The first one I had was with the Tech motor, about 3 yrs old, still ran great to the day I sold it. The newer Solo motor I used for just one season before I sold it, reason for selling was the upgrade to the Normark with the Huskquivarna engine instead plus a solid metal gear case (centrifugal).
  15. yup, same as DanC, First time in years where we drove for a total of 30 some odd hours for the weekend only to have predicted wind speeds go from 10km/hr to be changed to wind gusts up to 90/km! Thanks Environment Canada, you hit that weather forecast right on the head. Ended up breaking into someones trailer for the night cause our tent was left to be a mere 16 inches off the ground. All but one tent pole was broken. Left the owner a note with my email address on it plus a full tank of Propane, explaining the situation and the dire straights we were in. Low and behold it was Guidofisherman's trailer we had to crash in for the night. Long story short, he saved our backside was happy we made a wise decision. Once again, I thank you for that Al. The fishing can get real serious up there though. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ux3YfEr7dPo?version=3"><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ux3YfEr7dPo?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ux3YfEr7dPo?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object> <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5wZOzhaXDo?version=3"><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5wZOzhaXDo?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5wZOzhaXDo?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>
  16. Hey all, Just curious as to who is planning in attending this Festival? I helped out last year and there was a great turnout. There was not one kid who didn't walk away with a prize. This year, apparently, there is even more free stuff to give away! If you don't have plans, bring your kids, grandkids or even your neighbourhood kids along for a great day on the ice. There will be hot dogs, hot chocolate, and the fish you catch will be cleaned and served back to you deep fried. I am sure if you are looking to help out, you won't be turned down either. Last year I had about 40 kids go through my hut, helping each one catch a fish and give them a chance to see how the fish finder, camera and space heater works. Most of these kids were impressed, along with their parents on how comfortable ice fishing can be. A lot of great memories were made. Particularly when we had a Muskie show up on the camera and the one kid screamed his head off! I even had one young lad catch a fish, run up to get the perch cleaned, come back and share it with me so he could in turn, get back in line to catch another! This year, I am helping out with Frabill Ice huts. We will have 3 or 4 huts set up so kids can take turns fishing out of the cold with their parents and enjoy the day. Rumour has it there will be our own little prize packages being given out to the young anglers too. Let me know if your going so I can be sure to look for ya. Don't forget, this is the free fishing weekend so no one needs a fishing license. This means you can bring anyone along to enjoy the day. Bridgenorth Panfish Festival Cheers, Ron...
  17. Less than a week away everyone. Be sure to get a hold of Bly and make a contribution. Cheers, Ron...
  18. Rice Lake, Golden Beach Cottages Chris Giles Outdoors for a guide. Chris really knows his stuff, afterall I taught him everything he knows. Seriously, this guy does know his stuff, not only on Rice Lake but pretty much any lake in the Kawarthas, Bay of Quinte, and certainly knows the Haliburtains as well.
  19. Great info Aaron. Got a question though, what are the base camp dimensions? Do they come 10X20? Is there lots of ventilation in them? Would it be good enough to sleep in over night you think? Cheers, Ron...
  20. Here is another picture of him. Anyone remember the card in the background?
  21. Glad to support the cause Bly. Anyone else up for this? If not, how about a donation? Cheers, Ron...
  22. I will donate 50.00 Bly. I will be attending the Polar dip in support for all of the participants. Good on you for stepping up to the plate for a worthy cause! Come on guys and gals, we only got a few weeks to raise this money! Let me know how to get the money sent to you. Cheers, Ron...
  23. I'd also recommend Stoty. They have been on good fish this winter. I would assume it would be a choice on what you want with them too. As in: Do you want numbers or do you want trophies. Sometimes they are not in the same places. I'm sure they will steer you right. Cheers, Ron...
  24. This is terrible news Rick. I feel sorry for you and your family. A prayer has been sent your way.
  25. Come on Orvis Man! I dig out those videos for a chuckle or 2. We are thinking of ya on this end bud.
