  1. Ya ok you might be rite but I was a kidd
  2. Nice catch Fall is great . The big ones come out to play
  3. Ok. If I am an angler/hunter can I go fishing and have my gun in the boat with me ? Catch my limmit of(whatever)fish I want and hunt or shoot prey at the same time as long as I follow the regulations governing hunting or fishing weather it be fish or wild life? Can you have your surf and turf and eat it to?? Personaly I dont think you should. I think that a person would be at risk to not only themselves but any one in the boat with them. Fishing rods and tight lines wouldnt mix well with guns in a boat. My father always told me growing up that you werent aloud to have a gun in a boat unless you were hunting. Made sence to me at a young age and still does. Your either hunting or fishing not both...
  4. Good luck. I wont hold my breath. Simcoe has more problems to deal with than muskie. Sad to say. VHS/GOBIES/POLUTION/ OVER STOCKING/ HERRING and SMELTproblems/ massive die offs of bait fish/ CURRENT BYLAWS that will drastricly change water conditions. I have fished Simcoe for 40 yrs Its a big lake that continues to change year to year.? Not that I have any ansures it just seems to becoming a big pond surounded by people that just dont care? and those that do dont want responsable anglers to enjoy the hobby of fishing?
  5. To good to be true. The Leafs dont make good decisions. Ill beleve it when I see it.
  6. They are good to eat. They have nothing but farms to feed from where you live. Yum
  7. Dont forget the boats or ATV'S
  8. Having been a sled head for a long time I would say and do sey to most people is that the older sleds are the way to go!! Sleds arnt like cars/boats or even ATV'S. They are in a class of thier own. Sinply because they are subjected to extreem temp changes and that afects everything from fuel to timing. I cant count the amount of times my freinds cant get their sleds going in -30-40. My piont is that when you buy a sled keep in mind that the faster it goes or the more bells and whistels (technology) the more at risk you are to problems. Problems arent good at -40 . Its a major pain in the but . Not only for your friends but you as well. Keep it simple. Ccomputers/electronics are bound to fail in extreem conditions(cold/ water/ summer heat?) not to mention the stress put on the frame and supension at -40. To find a sled that never lets you down is like finding a needle in a hay stack. After my 40 yeaers of playing in the bush in winter I can say that simple is better. Not to say that inovations in the sled market arn"t positive. I just dont want to deal with the breakdowns. So having said that I am not a fan of Cat's but I do like the inovation and Get up and Go Cats bring to the market
  9. Ya Ill take the Massey over my two exwives any day. Just to let you guys know the dance doesnt work on the girls but the massey keeps on going....
  10. Thats your best yet Merry Christmass.
  11. I hate to be the one to beare bad news but central Ontario has been infected since 2005 .(At least) Regions north /west and east probably are infected as well. To say that a lockdown around Simcoe will solve the problem is nieve at best. I say this because bait shops in Ontario were hit with regulations hard in or about 2005 in order to prevent the spread of invasive organisims/viruses/bacteria/plants as well as infected baitfish.VHS. Just to say. How many established bait shops have you seen fold down in the last 5 yrs? I can list at least 3 in a small area south of barrie and several others east of Peterborough. So can vhs be stoped? Probably not. At this piont we have to hope that it doesnt affect our health in the future due to mutation.? The other argument revolves around evolution??(not religion pls) Do we let this virus run its course or take drasstick steps to couteract it? If it is allowd to run its course are you as an angler willing to adjust to declined catch limmits or more regulations governing your fishing habbits??? Personaly I think that we are in for about 20yrs of adjustment. Hopefully this will spawn a new breed of anglers willing to carry the flame of conservation and preservation through knowlage /experiance and understanding. Just my thoughts. Ill take quality over quantity.. To quote another memmber "LET THEM GO LET THEM GROW"
  12. Personaly I eat and drink anything going this time of year knowing full well buy the middle of Febuary Ill have it burned off ICE FISHING. Eat up enjoy the festive season Pls be nice clear your ice..
  13. Thanks Roy. Still the fundimental rules apply. DO NOT TRANSPORT LIVE BAIT...!!!
  14. On the bright side... For all the HARD WATER FISHERPERSONS? We all know January is comming.Cold nites and short days. In my opinion these warm temps keep all the risk takers off bad ice.During the festive hollidays. When the cold temps hit it will lock up Simcoe almost overnite. Ill take a warm CHRISTMASS and a cold start to a new year. And 8" of black ice any time :thumbsup_anim. My prediction. (Jan 12th)fishing Lady Simcoe IMO. Looking forward to cold hands and tight lines Saltydawg. Bring it on..
  15. I have a few they all work perfectly. I believe the oldest one is from early 60s it is my Fathers. The others are on the block. $ But I firmly believe that propane and propane accessories are the way to go. far more superior in construction /convience and safety without a doubt. Im not even shure that they sell the old naptha stoves anymore?
  16. Thank you verey much for all of your input and opinions. It looks like Rodgers is probably the way to go seeing as my cell is with Rodgers so tomorow I will look into a bundle packadge. As for the amount of space or bandwidth it realy will be primarily used by me .As for sharing the service the landlord lives alone and I think his main use is for finding sled parts. As the owner (me) of the service appropreate screening(parrental blocks) will be put in place. If at all possible. X box free home... Once again . Thanks Saltydawg.
  17. THANKS guys . been to busy looking at every thing els tonite . Any boats out there for sale?
  18. INSAIN 20YRS ago maby probably That was cool
  19. Pets have a way of finding that special place within your heart and soul. They become a part of who you are as a person and that becomes a bond that brings emotions of uncompromising love. Its A SAD TIME . Tomorow will bring fond memories and a smile that few understand. I think peanut IS happy to be yours. So sorry to here..
  20. Well we all saw it comming so I guess its time to learn new fishing techniques. I have always been a bait fisherman mainly if I may speek for my self it realy pisses me off when ignorant people bring bait in from other regions No respect for local eco systems Ignorance is not bliss but rather a pain in the for those that respect nature Rant done (4 now)
  21. Im going to try and keep this short and to the piont. I am finaly moving out of Toronto and back up to close to where I would like to be. Being fairly new to using a computer(1 yr)it has become a part of my dayly routine as well as my daughters. I will be moving in after Christmass and would like to have internet service. Cost is a concern. Speed not so mutch at this piont. My cell phone gets good reception . There is no cable service. Starchoice is set up in the house(landlords) but part of the rental agreement is that I bring in internet and they provide sat service. Any sudjestions or advice would be very helpfull. I know nothing about this stuff. Moving just northwest of Shomberg HWY 27 and 9. Thanks. Salty (not so mutch now) Apparently bell doesnt work or service that area??
  22. Ijust got off the phone with my 18yr old son that I talked about in Leachmans thread (about fishing days gone by) my son was the one that hooked into a monster largmouth on ultralite at 3 1/2 yrs old. and he got it to the boat My son says he cant wait to get out on the ice again its been about 5 yrs since he showed any intrest? Quick run down. At 8yrs old he could easily tell the differance between bad ice and good ice he also knew how to recognise preasure cracks and trouble spots by eye as well as LISTNING and FEELING what was happening under his feet. On SIMCOE he had no problem walking out to Whitey grounds. Im proud to say that he has slime on his hands.. To all the parrents out there ??? Advice is very welcome.. Pipe dream??(mine)? Do the kids realy come back ??? Hope so Salty Ps. Bring on winter
  23. VHS has been a concern with Simcoe for several years. About 4-6 years ago there was a massive die off of baitfish in particuler shiners it was the start of VHS rumours. I cant say for shure wheather it was VHS or not.But It did catch our attension.!! The one thing I dont understand is that in the regs. I beleive it says that live bait is not to be transported outside or into the region your fishing in as well as bilge water. (No???) 40yrs ago when my Father started teaching me how to fish this was rule #1? What HAPPENED???? So my piont is that there are signs on the hyways warning people of the restricted area concerning the Asian Longhorn Beatle so why not signs warning uninformed anglers of invasive spieces or posible viral threats?? On hyways leading out of metropolitan areas? This would promote knowladge of current threats to native ecologies as well as helping to raise awerenes to inexperianced anglers as well as those that dont fish but enjoy getting out of the urban setting. Therfore spreading the concern throughout a whole community not just those involved in fishing. Creating change and involvment in order to preserve a natural resorce. So.. If YOU drive more than 20 minniuts to go fishing buy your live bait when you get to your fishing spot.(local bait store) Most credible bait shops are open well before dawn and more than willing to reserve bait request along with customer service that extends well beyond posted hours of opperation. This view is not based on science but. I would like to think that my DAD tought me properly
  24. Aaaah not so good. Rather rood IMO....
  25. Had a terrior bite me on the back of my leg yesterday Bad dogs are in evey breed or mix. Bad owners are usualy to blame. The terrior was ok but still went after me today but next time it will be on the wrong side of a steel toed boot!!!
