  1. My friend has one, it works ok on ice as long as there isn't a flasher too close. He used his on Simcoe and worked fine. But when we were in a hut the next time and I brought my flasher, his sonar was useless. The flasher was horribly interfering with the sonar. Not sure how close you could have it to a flasher before it becomes affected.
  2. I have a Marcum Lx-5 and I love it. I am sure this has been asked in the last few weeks. Try doing a search to find the threads. The brand seems to be mostly personal preference.
  3. Lots of fish, both sport and commercially caught, are bottom feeders. I happen to like whitefish quite a bit.
  4. Well, I know that I can sit in a hut over 20' of water and catch fish all day with a flasher on. Perhaps the fish feel something, but I think the urge/curiosity of the fish to check out your presentation wins out.
  5. Awesome report. I can only hope to one day be able to have that kind of fishing within my reach.
  6. Family day is just another day of work for this guy. Unfortunately I don't get made up holidays off, certainly wouldn't ever get paid for one. As it would happen I work for my father, so everyday is kinda family day. Man, that's a crappy way to have to look at it. I'd love to hit the BOQ one day, but it's a little far for me.
  7. I intended to finally find a pickerel in the Thames river. Stopped fishing regularly about 1.5 -2 months ago and by that time had caught 55 all from shore. Pretty happy with that.
  8. I can't believe they printed that.
  9. Sounds like it's worth purchasing.
  10. Can't say I've seen that before. Seems like a decent alternative though. Does it say how heavy it is? Is it filled with sand, or do you fill it yourself??
  11. I'm actually drinking a beer right now. I plan to kill off some of my slower brain cells this weekend.
  12. The fish has a bigger head than the angler. If only fish could talk..

    Yummy

Im a gingerbread man myself, but those look like some good cookies.
  14. Subdivisions and big box stores are taking out forests all over the place. It's ironic that they take a spot ,covered in woods and filled with wildlife, and wipe it out only to put in a subdivision and name it "deer run" (which is exactly what the deer did), or "Fox Hollow". Somehow people think they are living in an ideal wildlife setting after the area has been virtually wiped clean of animal habitat to put street after street of houses in. Conservation areas that are in the way of urban sprawl and which don't have local community groups supporting them will probably have a harder time staying natural.
  15. I would also be interested in knowing if anyone who has one has had issues with the bails on them. I read some less than favourable reviews on BPS site that mentioned the bail system not functioning well.
  16. Cool. Love reading your reports. Great scenery up there. You seem to be catching fish on demand this ice season. Must be nice!

  18. Nice pics. No better spot than the woods to take some nice pictures.
  19. Yeah, I just opened mine in the mail.. Same old card. Not that I ever take it out of my wallet to enjoy the artwork anyway.
  20. No kidding. I used to catch carp a whole lot as a small kid. Lots of opportunities to find them since they are almost everywhere. I used to catch them on just bread mostly. Haven't targeted them myself in years but there are some monsters here in the Thames.
