  1. Nice fish. Quite a size difference there. Although it sucks to stand in the rain, it is nice to have less ppl around you on the water. Rain didn't seem to scare those two fish off.
  2. To me, it's basically a new catch phrase. The garage (CT in my case) gets to make money on it and they are also ensuring that now I must go back and spend even more $ to get them brought backup to pressure when the need presents itself. It is true though,if I go and tell someone I have nitrogen filled tires most ppl would think that is "cool" or "next generation" type of thing. The cutting edge stuff. Again, having not really driven on them yet I can't say anything positive or negative. I just hope that with new tires they hold the pressure and I don't need to worry about it. As long as that happens I will be happy. I'm not about to deflate them and put straight air into them. Yet, if the pressure goes down enough to warrant it in the snow season,I just might do that.
  3. That's funny. Not as creepy as if the night crew guy was named Karma and was watching you though.
  4. Yeah, well like I said, I didn't have a clue I was getting nitrogen. Hopefully with brand new tires that are only for the winter the pressure with the nitrogen will stay consistent and not need any more added. Any one else going to CT for winter tires should take not that they may use nitrogen without asking you. I'm not saying it's bad since I have driven on them for less than 30 mins so far, but there's something that just isn't right about not getting the option or being informed.
  5. I bought a new set of winter tires from Canadian Tire today and noticed the green caps right away, but didn't think much about it. I got home and checked the bill and saw that they had filled my new tires with nitrogen (without asking me) and charged me 20$ for doing it... I had heard nitrogen was better, especially for winter tires since they aren't affected by fluctuating temperatures as much. But I don't know how it works to refill them now. Do I need to take them to CT (or elsewhere) to add pressure to the tires instead of just going to a gas station pump. I assume you can't add air from a regular pump to nitrogen.. I am not too impressed that they charged me 20$ for nitrogen when I assume it is free to have them put regular old air in the tires. I don't like the idea of having to pay a garage a bunch of $ every time the pressure is off. I ended up being charged 20$ for nitrogen and almost 30$ for Protection Plan Plus. Neither of which I asked for, or even had mentioned to me.
  6. That first medal looks fantastic. However, it's the Boer war, not "boar". You certainly have a family history of military service. Good to see you have kept the medals in such great shape.
  7. Doesn't get much better than that. Nice lookin' fish.
  8. Sucks about your car. It's disturbing how little time it takes for something to be unattended and someone else to come along and take advantage of the situation. At least you still have the car. I've always figured a standard transmission is a fairly good theft protection device since a good 80%+ of the population can't get them rolling. I always just figure that if my car is beside 2 others that are automatic there is a good chance they would take one of the others. As far as looting cars, there;s not much you can do.. especially if your doors aren't locked.
  9. The Q ray CBC documentary basically said that you could go to home depot and cut a length of wire, throw 2 cap ends on it for a few bucks and it would heal whatever you wanted it to heal just as well as a Q ray. It's all in your head. It's just a placebo. It's not the fact of if it works or not that gets people mad, but the fact that the manufacturers are making millions on unproven theories. Q Ray isn't allowed to make healing claims in its commercials anymore because it is all unproven. In the CBC documentary (5th Estate, or Passionate eye.. dont remember which one) the scientist said that it isn't "Ionized" and didn't have any "powers" based on scientific tests. But hey, if you want to wear a bracelet to make you feel better, go ahead. Or just tie a piece of string around your finger. Does the same thing.
  10. Nice report there. Must have put some miles on the car this weekend.. I'm surprised there wasn't more on the Saugeen at that spot.
  11. I fish the downtown areas of London quite a bit and I have met quite a few ppl who either use telescopic poles or say that they wish they had one. Anyone stuck in town and needing to take public transit or even walk a distance would definitely consider something like this. To me, the obvious drawback is having to retie every time you collapse it. But that's just the nature of that style of rod. I say see how it holds up and then decide if it's worth while.
  12. That's normal, isn't it? ...Guys?....
  13. I stayed at Appelo Lake Lodge a few years ago with a friend. We didn't attempt Aurora Trout but knew they were there. Rick was a good guy. Definitely 4x4 country. It's beside Felix, Ontario. Where the men are men... and the women are too!
  14. Imagine that guy showing up on a construction site like that. I guess he's got the footwear. Who wears short shorts?
  15. Spybot - Search and Destroy. Just google it
  16. The guy holding that dead fish must be holding his breath. That's a monster.
  17. Wow. That looks pretty awesome. Not too many reports end with someone getting married. Congrats.
  18. I ate the fish for dinner and noticed that it had a single minnow in its stomach that was about the size of the knife handle pictured. What a pig. It looked way too big for the fish. It looked like a 5" or so smelt. Probably wasn't a smelt, but that's what it looked like. So I guess they are bulking up. That's fine by me.
  19. lol, If I ever get a boat that would be a good name for it.
  20. the work WAS finished. From what I understand the dam was finally completed after taking wayyyyy too long. On the very first run through one of the doors broke. The door that broke is on the far side of the river, not the park side. So they can't just drive machinery up to it to fix it.. it's going to be a big deal. Also, I think they are all blaming each other. There's the city, the contractor, the parts manufacturers, the engineers, etc and they are supposedly all pointing the finger at each other and no one will accept the blame. And this was just on the test run.. imagine if they ran it one more time and the rest broke? Clearly someone messed up if you can't even open a multi million dollar dam once. That' just how I heard it, I don't know any details.
  21. Well, due to weather today I had the day off. Thought I was just going to have the morning off so I didn't venture out of town and instead tried my usual spots in the downtown area. Got absolutely nothing where I figured I would catch fish and then caught one fish where I was least expecting it. Only fish of the day. Caught it a 5 minute walk from my front door Hooked it about 5' from shore on my 3rd cast and thought it was a pike. 19.5 " long. I've now caught 2 that big in the Thames, thats my personal best. Just under 3 lbs. So yeah, pickerel are still around This one was a fatty.
