  4. It's not much of a consolation but at least it's an insurance job Cliff - hope it all works out quick! Michael
  5. Think mine came in a cut/cured load I ordered in one fall and I set it aside with everything else needing split, thinking it may end up in the bonfire come spring. In January I was splitting and gave it a try - split clean mostly on the first whack. Burned forever in the air tight too! Michael
  6. ^ whut he done said - then smack the wedge with the butt end of the maul. Although I like the frozen method tb mentioned too - did a bunch of ironwood one winter that way. Michael
  7. Why not send the mechanic a link to this post before you pick up the machine? If he reads it through I'm sure he'll get the idea.... Michael
  8. Happy 5th birthday to me! Yes I said 5th! Tomorrow I will be 54 but today I am 5. Many will agree I act it too! What it really means is today is the 5th anniversary of my dry date and that I've had 5 full years of sobriety. How time flies...

Congrats. Now go celebrate with a cold pop (coke, pepsi, sprite, etc.)

  9. Drove by it a week ago last Monday and it was wide open. He was a sponsor for the Barrie Fall Fishing and I think there was a write up about him in the Examiner (read it on line) as well. Michael
  10. For a few years they were Bivouacing for a week or so in the field behind Lake Dalrymple Resort and practicing landings on the lake - let's just say my trolling pattern was changed for a while - both for watching and getting out of the way! One chopper with floats came in like a bushplane skimming along for a bit, I was in a 12' tinny and not too sure he saw me, I swear if I hadn't turned a bit I'd have been under the main rotor. Fun part was when I was talking to my neighbour on his base station from my truck on the CB - they broke in on us demanding ID, position, vehicle type etc - I asked them what they were doing on the citizen's band (that's the PG version) and they got real quiet all of a sudden! It's always amazing to watch though - two flew over where I was working this afternoon (Uptergrove east of Orillia) and I suspect they may have been the same ones you spotted on Dalrymple. Michael
  11. I've had the chance to actually work with Skip, along with fishing, boat hunting (for him) and just hanging out. Finestkind is all I gotta say! Michael
  12. Very bottom at the right corner of the general discussion page: http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules Michael
  13. Sounds Great Chad! But I've seen you cast and would worry about how you'd wield a chainsaw or other power tools - so I guess you'll just have to invite me up with all mine to prevent you from injuring yourself! Michael
  14. Have an opinion... Michael
  15. Where's the trolling motor mount? Seriously - nice work! Real inventive mind you have there Chris. Hope it brings you many hours and days of catching. Michael
  16. You need a oil furnace mechanics advice for sure - the only thing I can tell you is that there is several types of venting and they are matched to the type of furnace you have - the type of vent you want to change to may require replacing the type of furnace you have - and of course there's a few billion laws and regulations that need to be observed. In short, make sure the advice you do act on comes from a qualified and certified source - this is not something you can McGyver to save $$$$ at all. Michael
  17. Think that stuff on tv only works if you're putting screen doors in your hull If you've already bucked the rivet and just want a quick fix there's a product called Gluvit that is designed for aluminum boats - just brushes on from the inside. HIghly recomended by boat restorers on iboats.com Downside is finding it around here, think that on line marine place in Kingston (name escapes me at the moment) has it, and price is about 75.00 a quart. Michael
  18. Be happy where you are most of the time - if ya keep telling the Captain ya think the fish are "over there" every 2 minutes, and whining that there ain't any here, you may end up walking (swimming) back to shore - and yes it happened - fortunately (or not depending on one's view) I was the Captain.....and I did put up with it for the morning, I was out all day - you do the math! (we weren't THAT far from shallow water) Michael
  19. Might be way off base here but I think if the bottle is sealed (maybe still in a bag too?) you should be ok, especially if you're demonstrating intent to comply (under back seat isn't exactly within driver's reach). Michael
  20. Not sure how handy you are but I don't think it would be a whole lotta work to convert the cold room (if you've a mind to do so) - give it some thought - wish I had a whole room just for tackle & gear! Michael
  21. Read this post just because of the number of replies got me curious as to what was going on. Interesting to say the least. I do think the total true cost of hydro per kwh does need to address everything that you're billed for so that it is in line with what's coming out of pocket. As for the night light - why not a standard motion sensor to turn on whatever light you want to plug into it? It's only going to be on for whatever the timer is set for, and will come back on as soon as it senses again. During the day or when other lights are on it'd just stay off. But I guess they can't be had for 8.00 either, so I'll just go away now and keep reading to see if something else new presents itself. Michael
  22. Yeah he probably just wanted them to enter in the daily draw - must be awful desperate or lazy to make such a plea to be able to maybe win a draw for something only to be disqualified if found out - yup - on with the rest of the day! Michael
  23. I've been told every where I've gone that there was limited print copies available and no more would be shipped beyond the initial shipment sent to each dealer - and that they went fast! I've asked at not less than 10 different sources for a copy and got the same response. Guess if you don't have a computer and the web you can't see the regs - and that in my mind is not a great option - kinda goes in the "ungood" file for me! I'm not going to post the rest of what I'm thinking beyond one word -excuses! And by that I don't mean the governments excuse for not printing more! Michael
  24. Think that may be more product related Wayne - I took 2 packages to our local "famous" tackle services guy and he got dinged 9.95 plus hst for rod/reel parts on each of them, while another package to a manufacturer containing "machined parts" was the 9.95 plus 5%. On a personal note - product I brought in from the states for resale when I was still in the 400 market all got charged the 13% even though consigned to my business. In short, as always, no consistency! Michael
  25. Something to consider that I've learned... In december I started working part time for a Canada Post Contractor - part of which involves delivering packages. It seems customs is targeting anything with declared value over 100.00 and charging 9.95 for "customs clearance" plus HST on the shipment value. Why do I know this - because I have to collect it at time of delivery! You'd think people would be ready for this but NO! Most of the time they take it out on me with comments like "this never happened before" or " I thought I paid everything on line!". Just a heads up that you should plan on paying the 13% plus 9.95 for (minimum - additional tarriffs are charged on some items I've noticed) for anything you order outside canada now. Oh - and please don't take it out on the driver - we're just doing a job! If you don't pay - the package goes back to customs marked "disputed" and your charge card still has the purchase on it. Michael
