  1. And here we go again... Not even a week since the last one. Maybe that's why Hydro was taking down so many trees today along Hwy 12 between Atherly & Uptergrove - big ones! Even had a huge crane in and closed the hwy for a while. Or maybe they were practicing for tomorrow... Michael
  2. Just tried that one woodenboater - much better composite than any I've seen yet! Thanks! Michael
  3. Might be another even larger band hit us yet - can't quite tell if it will just miss us or not. I watched the last one cross lake st. john in about 90 seconds or so, rain got so intense I couldn't even see the shore in front of the house. Michael
  4. Blowing thru here now - power went out a couple times - super high winds, rain had visibility down to about 50 feet at best! Be safe y'all! Michael
  5. Betcha it was something like a marital and the one who got the short end knew where the keys were kept Michael
  6. If all else fails get a telescopic painters pole - the ones used for rollers and sanding heads. They can extend in one or both directions at the same time. About 30.00 at home hardware, I'll get the name off mine tomorrow for you (it's at a work site, I'm home). It may fit the bill for what you're fabricating with a little McGyver's touch! Michael
  7. Yeah but didn't the one on Restoration Garage have both wheels and skis on the front? I know it was also a tandem axle - they had to let the air outta the tires to get the treads on, but man did they scoot around with it when it was done! Michael
  8. Episode of Restoration Garage (place in Bradford) had one shown being tested on the ice. Way cool! Michael
  9. Why be kidding Chad? It's only an hour from North Bay according to Google Maps - think about it! Michael
  10. I'd invest a couple hundred bucks in talking to a lawyer or accountant who specializes in real estate and taxes - you may very well be on to something if you can swing it financially and physically. Not that much different from owning a main residence and a cottage but there may be both an income (tourism rental) and tax (write offs) advantage if you play the system correctly. Good luck! Michael
  11. Is this possibly a regular with ethanol vs midgrade without issue? Michael
  12. I was more referring to C & R of legal size tigers when I was talking about practicing conservation - of course your excellent point is very correct to protect the entire species, I'm very aware (and just as PO'd) about the increasing attempts to use ignorance as an excuse. That's another can of worms that we all know exists and are seemingly moreso less able to address effectively, so I won't go off on a rant about it here. Michael
  13. Muskie rules apply (I say that without quoting the regs because it's what I've learned over the years from the regs). I've heard discussions on both sides regarding them being sterile and not needing conservation efforts, the only one that made sense is that they might be keeping other species in check by preying on them. Michael
  14. What I used to try and sell.... Michael
  15. whutinthebloodyblueblazesofhades is ZEC? Saw it on a Kay-beck map - think it's something like a provincial park but have no idea what it really means. Michael
  16. Might be going out on a limb here but do you have another gas line and/or tank to try? (borrow maybe?) If the problem duplicates with another tank & line you'll know then it's in the fuel delivery for the motor - either diaphragm or pump. The bulb going soft might indicate the pick up in the tank is fouled or the bulb itself may be the culprit, even the tank line could have some crap in it OR it could even be a cracked line letting air in interupting the fuel flow. Good place to start if you can find another set. Michael
  17. Send him a link to this post... Michael
  18. I'd be a little concerned that they told you the axle was too light - especially with it being a totally obvious underinflation! Think I'd be double checking everything they checked - sorry to sound mean but wow! Michael
  19. I buy most of my air gun nails at home depot and they all so far have said galvanized on the box. I'd really reconsider using the 18 ga and go to 16 ga simply because you'll have a heavier nail that's less likely to flex & snap, even if using PL adhesive there will be micro movement every time the floor has a moving load (technical ain't it???). Make sure to verify the joist condition - if you're changing the flooring due to rot, more than likely the top (at the very least!) of the joists will also be punky. Just my 0.02, I really don't have several different nailers, couple of compressors etc. or any idea how to use them, at least that's the opinion of those who don't wanna pay the rates I charge ha ha ha! Michael
  20. And now to REALLY confuse the issue: You're question contained the answer - you were DEALT a 29 but could not PLAY it as the opponent pegged out. You HAD a 29 hand but it was not SCORED as the game was over. Sorta like the song says - kinda like winning the lottery & dying the next day... But at the very least you proved that you know HOW to count a 29 hand, if only I had a nickel for every self professed crib expert who tried to peg 19... Michael
  21. Thanks Cliff! Dunno if the inference applies to me that much but I'll admit I do try. Comments like yours and the others certainly do help in getting over the alligator and swamp syndrome! Michael
  22. If it isn't a leaking bilge plug the only think I can suggest is put in on the trailer, use a garden hose to slowly fill the bilge and see if there's any visible sign of water leaking back out from a rivet, seam or previously undiscovered damage. Leaks work both ways usually, it's a down and dirty way to find them. Just watch your springs & tires, water is heavy too! Michael
  23. Nope - I was on highway 12 with the "fishing gear sale" signs - right across from Knox Church & Leska's deli. Today was the last day- sale was a HUGE success, cleared out a lot of inventory at great deals for those who got there. Thanks to all who came - I had an absolute BLAST doing it! Michael
  24. Appreciated Brian. Hope you're getting lotsa use & enjoyment from the new toys! I was further amazed and moved beyond words sunday night when my friends Bert & Liz, their son Billy & daughter in law Ellen, and Skipper D from this board along with his wife Bev all turned to and bore down till we had secured things enough for the overnight. Even with the skies still threatening and the amount of work involved with deconstructing then reassembling an overturned garage shelter, standing up 16 foot long displays and getting things somewhat under a roof (along with the thick swarm of skeeters that decided to come feast on us) not one complaint was made and in fact there was lotsa kidding around as 7 people just pulled together as a team. You'd swear we'd done this before but it was the first (and last I hope!) time we had all come together at the same time let alone for the task at hand. Once this is all behind me I guarantee there will be an evening soiree with steaks for all that were there - I had never felt so helpless EVER as when I pulled in that driveway after getting the call and saw the apparent damage - for a few minutes I was lost and man that didn't feel good at all. These good people brought me back and helped to restore order from chaos - saved me from a total loss and helped to put things together. I can't say enough to show how much I appreciate them, so I'll stop now before I end up sitting here typing all night! Michael
  25. Thanks to all of you! Damage and loss seems to be limited to the party tent itself and maye 1-2% product loss but 100% did get wet. Many items actually dried out overnight in the portable garage and I still managed a decent days sales. Big Cliff - a special thanks for your offer pal - just read it now and it's all good, I'll be packing it all up Wednesday if there's anything left to pack after tomorrow. Found out that the carport door got ripped off too, couple damaged trees & fence. More downed trees visible in the area (wasn't really looking last night) and all day I could hear several chainsaws running in the distance. Couple of forestry trucks stopped in to the sale and advised they and several others were working in the immediate area cleaning up what Hydro had tossed off the roads & lines along with other damage. Never hear a word on the radio about it though, so it must have been a small burst. Just hope we can get thru the next two days - forecast ain't the best at all but I'm due for a little good luck (I hope!). Michael
