  1. Is this procedure legal? I also saw it many times while in Terrace Bay.
  2. I favour the 8lb trilene xl on most rods. Been using it for many years. However I do have a couple rods spooled with 20 lb power pro for trolling. I like the sensitivety while trolling.
  3. That shirt is what attracted the fish! LOL!
  4. Got rained out today at work (Fort McMurray AB) so I started searching intelligent chargers. Found this very appealling. Battery Minder Model BM 12248. Starts out charging at 12 amps, then slowly decreases amperage to 6 to 4 until fully charged. Also has a system whereby it decreases sulphating of the plates to help restore a well discharged battery to a new condition. Sulphating of the plates is nasty. I was impressed. $139 in the US with a 5 year warranty. I emailed Total Battery on Dunlop St.in Barrie. Warranty on their site is only 1 year. Waiting for their reply. Lots of reading but, check it out. www.batterystuff.com I suggest reading their tutorial on the different types of batteries & chargers. Very interesting.
  5. Birds are Ok, but we love fish pix! Welcome
  6. When adding stabilizer to the gas tank did you start & run the engine for a couple of minutes to allow the stabilized gas to flow throught fuel line, fuel filter & the carburetor? Very important step!
  7. Proves there r still good people around. I have a similar story. 2 years ago I was fishing Nipissing, doing really well catching nice sized perch & walleye thru the ice. At the end of the day i'm packing up my gear, I have extra minnows. So i take the minnows over to another group & offer them to the people. The following week end I hit the same spot, Fishing is even better than the previous week. Early afternoon I'm running low on minnows. 1 of the members of the group comes over to see how I'm doing. I said great, but I'm really low on minnows. He runs over to his spot & returns with a container of minnows! In turn when I departed I stopped & gave then some perch & wallys. "What goes around, comes around"!!
  8. Hey Chad, I have all of the above mentioned tools. Can I be your best friend? You work with the tools, I'll scout out the river for you!! Good luck at the new property. A word of advice. Chainsaws are a very dangerous tool. Treat them with utmost respect. I cut many a bush lot in my younger days. I suggest you purchase the appropriate safety gear such as loggers boots. loggers chaps, hard hat with ear muffs & face shield, loggers gloves. The rubber boots with the spikes are excellent in winter to grip ice, snow & logs. Be careful you don't twist an ankle. When they dig in they don't move sideways. Good luck
  9. Hey guys, if you're thinking of the plastic sliders Fish Farmer is da man! I arrived at his house this morning, picked up two 4 footers & on my way. Except, all he wanted to do was tell fish stories! LOL!
  10. Thanx again. I'm definitely going to be purchasing an automatic charger
  11. Thanx for pic. Pic is worth a thousand words!
  12. Thanx for the pix. Lottsa nice memories to be had! Grampa, dad & daughter - Priceless!
  13. Real nice job FF! My order is in, 2 pieces 5" X 4' long. Are your 2x6 bunks bolted directly to the trailer without any other brackets? My trailer has silly looking brackets bolted to the trailer then bolted to the bunks, which raises the boat up even further. I'd like the bunks as low as possible for launching at shallow ramps.
  14. Thanx for your input guys. I'm definitely going to be getting a second battery. Going to use my regular charger for a couple hours, then switch it over to the battery tender plus.
  15. I fished/ trolled for 6 hours last Friday. By the end of the day my interstate battery was very low. I plugged in my "battery tender plus" & the red light was on continously for over 48 hours & still not fully charged. The green light never did light up. The charger became very hot, so I unplugged it. The battery guage on my 55lb Minnkota showed 3/4 charge. Does this seem like an abnormal charging time? Does the "battery tender plus" normally get extremely hot? Please give advice. I should mention I recently moved the battery toward the stern of the boat due to too much weight up in the bow. I used 14' of 8 guage battery booster cables. The new cables did not get warm at all so I'm assuming they are the correct size. Comments & suggestions are much appreciated. Thanx for your help Brian
  16. Thanx for sharing. Your pix are awesome!
  17. Awesome pix. Thanks Ive fished the watershed area many times, but never so lucky to get monsters like that! Horwood is on my bucket list.
  18. A few years back I went to a marina on Georgian Bay near 12 mile Bay. $7.00 in, $7.00 out, park the truck $7.00, oh & u nhave a trailer? $7.00. Total .$28.00. I can't remember the name of the marina. Doesn't matter cause I'll never go back!.
  19. Yup me too! Great guys, knowlegeable & friendly. Let me try 3 different props while his tech had the tachometer on the motor to ensure it was the appropriate prop for my boat. Keep up the good work John.
