X2 for the Lansky sharpening system. The trick is to sharpen your knife at the proper angle. The jig holds your knife at the proper angle. I've had very good results using the Lansky.

Jack it up far enough to put 2" thick scaffold planks under the pontoons. Jack it up a couple more inches,now you want to place 2' diameter steel pipes under the pontoons on top of the planks. The planks are to ensure the pipes don't sink into the ground. Hopefilly you can tilt the trailer enough to start to slide the pontoons onto the trailer, from here start to winch the boat onto the trailer. I haven't seen your set up, so you want to ensure you don't point load the pontoons on the pipes & create dents in the pontoons. We just completed a similar job at work whereby we rolled pump bases inside a building with steel pipes. By the way the bases weighed 18,000 lbs. 3 workers were able to push the pump bases into position on a level surface. Good luck

I tie my own worm harnesses for Lake Erie walleye. Perch colored or chartreuse are usually the favourite. Black & purple would be third choice.

I have a battery tender plus. Good unit. The major factor for me is you can leave it plugged in & won't damage your battery. Flashing green light to let you know your battery is 80% charged, solid green light to say your battery is now fully charged. $75.00 at Ramakkos in Sudbury.

Wayne The bouncing I was referring to is from the tires not the suspension. B. S. refers to breaking strength of that particular component. WLL is sometimes referred to as SWL ( safe working load). The working load limit is usually a 5:1 safety factor. Therefore if a cable or strap has a breaking strength of 10,000 pounds the WLL is 2,000 pounds. Hope this clarifies things.

I just finished a modification on my trailer. Bolted on two 3/16" chains for the rear (rated at 1,000 lbs each). Drive the atv on, attach the chains with 1200 lb hooks. On the tongue I mounted a boat winch. Attach the winch strap, pull it in till tight. Also on the tongue is another chain & hook for a secondary attachment at the front. Hope this helps. I hate ratchet straps. They catch on everything, difficult to use with gloves on, freeze up in winter slush & snow while travelling. I was going to use the winch on my atv for the front, but my concern was the bouncing of the atv while travelling would shock load the synthetic rope on my atv winch. When shopping for this type of hardware be aware there is WLL (working load limit) & Bull (breaking strength). An 800 lb atv could easily put 2,000 lbs of "shock load" on your attachments when bouncing on the tires.

I recently purchased a "battery tender plus". 75.00. They are a slow trickle charge that also maintains your battery after being fully charged. They will not over charge your baterry. Works very well. Plug it in & walk away. Unplug it in 4 days if you wish. Your battery will not be damaged.

Good idea. I'd love to join in but alas reside in southern Ontario. I have fished several of those lakes U mentioned. Never did very well on Misomakenda. Fished some of the lakes a little south of there for the past 6 years. Good luck on your venture.

Hey Mike where did u purchase the bogs? I recently bought Nats. They're very light, warm & grip the ice & snow much like a winter tire. Nicest boot I've ever owned.

Good ideas with the camera & large treble hook. Awesome! To add to your suggestions. Use a small diameter rope attached to a steel rod, hang several treble hooks off the steel rod. My luck I'd hook & fish not the fishing rod!!

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. This gear we buy is expensive enough without having to purchase it twice. I always tie/strap items down minmum 2 tie down points, then I still stop to ensure nothing has escaped. Just a quick tip. I fabricated an aluminum rack for the rear of my ATV. I have a plywood box for storing all my gear. I hate ratchet straps with a passion. So I mounted turnbuckles on all 4 corners of the box, snug them down, good to go. Make sure you use a lock nut on the turnbuckles, otherwise they will vibrate loose. Hope this tip helps.
