I did a job on the floor of my 14' Lund. I used the textured vinyl you see at Home Depot. Now you see the same vinyl in all of the new Lunds. I don't like carpet cause hooks are always getting caught in it.

I'm with sauce. Use a piece of aluminum for backing.

There should be a charge for attempting to take a buddy fishing only to find your battery was dead! LOL! Now you tell us you run out of gas!!

Good post! Thanx for the reminders. I agree with the above poster who stated to upgrade their safety equipment from the cheapo orange bucket from CTC. As you get older you get wiser. I now wear my PFD at all times, with the fox whistle attached.

I'm not a licensed plumber but have done all my own renovations over the years. No leaks! LOL! Just completed the rough in for drains & vents in the basement level for new bathroom & shower. Inspector from the town approved everything - never asked for a license or documentation from a contractor.

Most bigger motors (not all) will not slow down enough to troll. That's one of the reasons guys use a kicker. My 20 hp Yammy 4 stroke on my 14' Lund will only slow down to 2.4 mph. For walleye on Erie ideal trolling speed is 1.5 - 2 mph. Also I have been advised trolling with a bigger motor is hard on the engine. As stated above it's nice to know you have a back up engine to get you back to the launch if your big motor should fail.

Check the electrolyte (water) in your battery. Make sure it is up to the proper level. I check my trolling motor batteries about every 6 weeks, year round. I found one where the water level had gone down quite a bit. Why - I don't know. Lottsa good advice offered by the crew. If all else fails - put a trickle charger (smart charger) on the battery (2 amp charge) when you have finished your work for the day. Leave it charging 24/7. Next time you want to play in the yards, it will go VROOM VROOM! Good luck

I'm in Niagara. I worked in my yards all day & barbequed chicken for supper! The storm was north of us, we never had any high winds or rain. Mid afternoon we could hear thunder off in the distance. Guess we were lucky.

I tie directly to the lure - no snap, no swivel. If you use snaps & other hardware you may compromise the action of the lure as it was intended by the manufacturer. To enable quick easy lure changes I tie a 6' fluoro leader to each crank bait with a swivel at the end of the leader. On my mainline I tie a snap swivel. For storage I coil up the 6' leader into a small coil, place a small bread tie on to the small coil to hold it in place. Then into the tackle tray. Works for me. Some of my worm harnesses I coil around a short piece of pool noodle. I coil 7 or 8 harnesses onto a 12" piece of noodle, then into a plastic Tupperware container.

Yup Gourmet meats on the west side of hwy #6 a little bit south of the airport. Great service there as well.

I have a 14' Lund with 20 hp yammy 4 stroke, MinnKota electric trolling motor, 2 batteries & other miscellaneous gear such as paddles, anchor, mooring lines (small stuff). I just did a quick breakdown of my total weight being towed. Boat with full floor 350 lbs (boat is 285 lbs - bare bones) Yammy 140 lbs MinnKota 40 lbs 2 batteries 120 lbs Trailer 250 lbs?? (only an educated guess) Total 900lbs Small stuff add 50 lbs I'm sure you will be OK.

I stopped at a small butcher shop on hwy 6 near Caledonia. His sign out front advertised a full beef loin 7.99 per lb. (March 2015). So I went in to enquire. The owner states his beef is raised on local farms, grain fed without hormones. I'm immediately impressed. He also hangs his beef for 21 days. Most grocery stores age their beef 7 days & if you look into the Sterling Silver beef at Sobeys, it's aged 14 days. Again I'm excited to try his beef. So, I order the loin, he cuts it to my desired thickness - 1" & 20 minutes later I'm on my way home. We did 1 on the BBQ - It was awesome! Best cut of beef I have ever tasted! So tasty, mouth watering beef - I'll never shop any where else for my steaks.

I have a 14' Lund, brand new 20 hp Yammy 4 stroke, with full floor, electric troller, 2 batteries a full tank of gas, myself & my gear. 22 MPH which is about 26 KPH. I'm happy with that speed. I had a 30 HP Suzuki 2 stroke - went 30 MPH - scary fast for a 14'.

Is there an inline fuse on the wire that powers the radio? Check there first. Any loose wires dangling down behind the radio - such as a ground wire? Good luck!

I've been hanging around here a loooong time. I remember back in early 2000's driving along hwy 17 near Sturgeon Falls & TJ had a billboard advertising "Ontario Fishing.Net" I was so excited, I said to my wife "that's the new fishing message board I just joined" Although my member profile shows December 2009 as the joined date - I know it was much earlier than that. On that same trip I purchased a Mariner outboard from the marine dealer in Sturgeon. Probably 2001 or 2002. Great info here!

French River, Wolseley Bay. I know it's a little further than you wanted to drive. G Bay is awesome, but, too many rocks for my liking. Pretty scary when you look 10' to the side of your boat & there's a huge boulder 6" below the surface!!

Thanx again. What Porkpie states makes sense to me. Add up the extras for an ipad mount & other goodies it gets near the price of a new unit. Having the second unit is what I desire.

Not 1 mention of the original floating rapala black/gold? Was an awesome lure when I was a teen! I just recently added a couple to my tackle bag. Gonna try them this Friday on Erie.

Ah come on Ivan - tell us what happened with the riggers! LOL!
