  1. My guess with Lowrance, like the rest of their products, is that it'll cost a lot more... now figure a basic lowrance HDS Unit is $1000+ and i'd say atleast $300+ for the Side imaging... and you're at $1500 give or take for a 5" screen... the same humminbird is $1000 give or take...
  2. i bought a magellan sportrak about 3 years ago... it locked up the first day... took it back, got another one... same thing happened to it 2 days later... Buy a garmin, i've got a garmin gpsmap76 now and no issues... only thing i'll add is, get one that has more memory or that has the ability to add memory cards to...
  3. i've got a 1960 Evinrude 18hp, $120 runs rough... long ways from alberta though...
  4. That was "Sharkwater" disturbing to say the least, hack off all the fins, then throw it back in...
  5. Sonny, call Great Northern Battery/Acme Battery, they are on Parkdale, best prices around...
  6. I feel for the guys that work there, but this has been a long time coming... how many times were they bailed out?? and it's the same story over and over... Same thing happened in Pittsburg years ago (steel plants shut down), ended up being the best thing that happened to the city... People got to make a living, but in this day and age, bottom line is $$, and if you have a high overhead, you're just that much more expensive against the competition... We've dropped our prices too, not by choice but it's either drop it and get work, or keep it the same and don't get any/as much... Sadly no one wants to take a reduction employees/unions/management/shareholders, and this is the end result everyone looks at what's in it for me, not the overall picture... we are competing against china/india/etc... where labor laws, cost of labor, enviromental issues are all at a very minimum, factor in Government subsidizing and how are you able to compete?? Bottom line is $$ The "Good Old Days" are long and gone, and we should all adjust to it... Hamilton had it's time, but that was long ago... We will make it through this, but everyone needs to "trim the fat"
  7. Awesome, these are the best reports!!! Congrats
  8. Looking at either a Nuvi 760 or Nuvi 780 only difference between the 2 is 1 has FM traffic reciever, the other has MSN Direct Traffic reciever Is the MSN Direct worth an extra $30 on the initial GPS purchase? any help would be appreciated...
  9. scammed... it will show up if USPS recieved it... bottom line - no exceptions went through a stint a while back on an ebay purchase... same thing happened, never recieved it, guy swears he sent it... filed ebay claim, paypal claim and a whole whack of other online "felony" stuff, the item showed up a week later... Imagine that... I kept getting the runaround, that once it goes through canada customs and that canada post recieves it, that then it'll show up in the system... LIES all LIES Buyer/Trader Beware!! always insure your item... years ago, i sent a tool in for repair, and had it insured for more then it was worth... UPS lost it, and it was a huge hassle to have them pay us for the insured amount... totally Bull in my opinion, if i pay to have something insured, it shouldn't matter what it is... it could have been a dog turd with a bow on it, but if i paid extra $$ to insure it, then by golly they should pay if it's lost!!
  10. I've got the last one and use it for all types of reels... spinning, casting, trolling, even did my centerpin on it... i've done my carp reels too so it will do large spinning reels aswell... no regrets in buying it, just make sure you don't overtighten the reel clamp... line stripper works great also
  11. i've got the 7" cabelas camera it's a hassle to set up, it's big and it's heavy... i wouldn't go and spend the $$ again... if you want it for ice fishing put the $$ for a flasher when set up properly it works great, but it takes a while to set it up the way you want
  12. I saw this one in Miami...
  13. i bought a pair of boots from Marks work warehouse rated to -70 they have the first 3" or so rubber, then material with liners(water proof first 3 or 4") other pair from bass pro... 1200g thinsulate in only the bottom 3" or so...the rest are unlined rubber (waterproof all the way up) I like both but wear the bass pro ones cause it fits easier in my float suit and they're waterproof all the way up (big feet, size 15...) Bass Pro ones are 14, the Mark's ones are 17 and the bass pro ones are much easier to get in and out of... i can't drive in the marks ones, they're too big, gas and brake go down... i pair either with the bass pro lifetime warranty socks, and i'm happy...
  14. starting with a shot in the carb isn't ideal for the motor...
  15. if you're gonna buy a 2WD quad, then go with a sled... it's give & take.... quad has year round use, sled is winter only... unless you live up north, winter is only 2-3 months here... is it worth the investment for the several times a year you'll use it...
  16. That just goes to show you their devotion to boobs... I love boobs so much, i grew a set of my own...
  17. Quantum Icon 20's... i have 4 of them and use them year round... big enough for open water fishing, and small enough to fit on an ice rod and balance well
  18. I've never noticed a difference in RPMs when i switch to 4WD.... I don't have a silverado though... Here's mine... 00 Envoy 4.3 V6... not enough power but it looks nice... LOL It'll pull but could use more balls It had enough balls to do this to the rear diff while pulling a bush out in 4 low... managed to explode my carrier and snap a 10,000lb towstrap in the process
  19. definitely a fun day out... Thanks for having me in the hut Sonny... I sure felt sorry for the poor souls sitting outside braving the elements...
  20. My Condolences Lew
  21. Hut Heater Flasher in that order! i'd never ice fish if i had to sit outside in the cold/wind
  22. so what's the difference with a bad product/service rant... lets take snowfari ice fishing... basically the rant a while back has hindered his financial standing, what keeps him from turning around and sueing all the negative nay-sayers??? as a business owner, i'd appreciate someone telling me the truth about an individual and do the same to others... If i've let someone go/or someone left, why wouldn't i share this info? all the time/training/screw ups i've had to swallow due to an uncapable/unloyal worker, why would i want someone else to go through the same dissappointment i did? on that note, i've never called anyone inregards to checking someone's references when hiring an individual... my logic is the individual knows who/where he's wronged a company and therefor won't put them down as a reference anyways... now whats the point of me calling them and listen to a guy brag about how great an employee/worker he was... if he was so great, why'd he leave... main thing i look for is loyalty... if someone is constantly changing jobs, year here, year there, there's a reason he's constantly changing jobs... bottom line is a resume is mostly B.S./lies. you see how/what a person knows when they start working It's a shame that all these laws/policys are in affect to protect the employee, what about the employer? buddy decides to quit, he packs his tools and leaves... if i want to let him go, it's 2 weeks notice he has to get... where is my 2 weeks notice, apparently that doesn't matter... only the dude who gets up and leaves has rights... i know not all people are like this, but out of the 50 or so that we've had here, only 3 or 4 have given 2 weeks notice
  23. Stoty, you must have hit the money tree somewhere... new boat, now vacation!! you da man!!!
  24. dipsy = aluminum tube or salty planerboard = plastic tube/scotty
  25. i'd say do it if it's a mfg's warranty... i'd go bumper to bumper... in all honesty, it's pretty rare to blow a motor/tranny... lots of little electronics and crap that can go wrong, and it sure adds up quickly... like everything though, you take a chance... look at it as peace of mind...
