  1. For those who own the new Strikemasters with Solo engines, and have tried the old Tecumseh engines, what is the main difference between the two? Which one do you prefer and why?? Thanks!
  2. I am in the market for a new longer rod to target walleyes. Looking at something around 32-36 inches long. Wondering if you guys had any issues fishing with this lenght of rod in a Fishtrap Pro (hitting roof on hookset)? My longest rod so far has been a 28" and had no problems at all.
  3. Anybody know where to get good service for reel repairs around Ottawa area?? Reel to reel is up for sale and are no longer accepting new reels/rods... Thanks
  4. How do you guys dress up when it comes to big water fishing in October? Is it worth bringing the survival suit? I have an Arctic Armor suit so I can take off the jacket if things warm up a bit. But being a scrutineer on the B1, and having to sit in the middle seat in a bassboat going 65mph down the lake on an October morning.. curious if it's worth bringing it or not! The thought just gives me chills already! Thanks for the input! Oli
  5. Called Marcum concerning a problem with a Marcum LX3. The battery wasnt lasting long enough and the digital display on the charger wasn't showing the full numbers. Not the end of the world but still wanted to have feedback on why this was happening. Gave them a quick call and I now have a new battery being sent as well as a new charger and display... Very impressed! Good to have great customer service even when dealing with people from the USA! (shipping fees higher etc...)
  6. After some planning of when and where to go on our off day, John and I decided to hit up a gorgeous lake up in the mountains. The weather was great all day. Weatherman calling for 15kmh was dead wrong. Winds were very calm and the lake was a mirror at times, which made for perfect sight fishing. Started off great with a largemouth on the first cast, on a Lucky Craft LV100. Working rocky shorelines, we were able to pick up a few decent pike and a couple bass on a drop shot rig. Switching from deep shorelines to deep weeds, we were able to pick up a few bass here and there, on flippin' jigs and cranks. Most of the nicer fish came off deep weeds And finally what made this outing all worthwhile... We worked shoreline after shoreline, and entered this little bay. Immediately picking off a nice fish on the jig, I started thinking the nicer fish were up shallow... After working the area quite well, I noticed a pine tree in the water and pitched my jig. Sure enough, this beast was sitting right under it and picked up the jig like there's no tomorrow. The fight was on. John grabbed the hiber net and did a wonderful netting job. A new PB for me! Guessing weights are welcomed! Another shot All in all a great day on the water! Thanks again John Hope you enjoyed!
  7. Man I hope he doesn't see the title... Had the chance to reserve Dad for a day of fishing. Due to his retirement, picking a day wasn't really an issue. Wednesday brought us with rain and very heavy winds... Backed off on this day and headed out Friday, calling for sunshine and 10kmh winds. Perfect! Life's good when you're retired!! Tried our best to do the Izumi shot! Alright.. Off to fishing we went. The bait of choice was senkos for most of the day. They had to be fished slooooow and put right in front of the bass' nose. Dad screams fish on after 3 casts. Great.. The competition had already started. He brings it in and swings it in the boat, at my feet. "Unhook him please!" Stunned that a grown and accomplished men can't even take a 1 pound bass off his line, I pop the hook out of his mouth and re-rig the senko... Couple casts later... "FISH ON!!!" The count was now 2-0... The competition was on!! We kept hitting shoreline after shoreline the whole day, trying to put as many fish as we could in the boat. My main goal that day was to make him feel was a senko bite was like, since most of his fish previously caught on a senko were mostly "I just felt weight!" type bites... After 10-15 bass boated, he said "Funny how you just feel tic. tic." My goal was accomplished and for the rest of the day, he was able to distinguish what was a bite and what was weeds Couple of other senko bites... The wind picked up in the PM and the fish were clearly positioned in the rocks, on the wind blown side of the shoreline, and close to deep water. All our bigger fish came off spinnerbaits. All in all a great day on the water. Met up with a loon family on the way back to the launch. Thanks for reading!
  8. Looking to replace a Nautilus battery (crap!!!) that I bought at cnd tire. 2nd battery that leaks acid. Heard Optima blue tops were decent. Any recommendations? It will be used with a trolling motor (46lbs thrust) and want it to last all day long. Which one is best for this application and are they worth the extra $$ or should I go with a company like Interstate batteries? Thanks in advance..
  9. Looking to store my plano tackle boxes in the garage and wondering if the gas fumes or dust from the roads (live in a construction area) will ruin the plastics? Fairly new garage but still have a couple gas cans in the garage and worried the fumes will damage the baits or get impregnated in the plastics, scaring away fish when I use em? Anyone store their plastics in the garage? Pictures of how you organize your tackle would be great Thanks!
  10. Yep have bought lots of stuff from them. Great company, great service. Only thing is that their shipping rates are way up there if you're ordering from Canada.
  11. Anyone know where to get a Shimano Sedona 750FB spool just by itself? Or anyone have one for sale? Thanks Olivier
  12. Looking for a store that does a good job at re guiding rods close to Ottawa. I have a quantum tour edition and want the 4 upper guides re guided. Does Reel to Reel in stittsville do a good job? Thanks for the help!
  13. Hey all, Quick question. I've got a 6'8" Medium Heavy (extra fast) baitcasting rod paired up with a Shimano Curado 201E7. The rod itself is the Rapala Rtype Rod (super light by the way) and can't wait to try it out. I want to use it for my spinnerbait applications but still not sure on what to use line-wise. I was thinking of using 15lbs test power pro since spinnerbaits will be thrown around vegetation and wood but worried the tip will be too stiff and rip the spinnerbait out of the fish's mouth. Other option would be to use fluoro for the extra stretch. Thanks in advance Nodie
  14. Thanks for the info. The tackle boxes were sitting right next to the gas tank too . They're back in the house
