1. LOL Reminds me of that story of the heroic man who amazing fought and defeated 5 grizzly bears with his bare hands!!!! Unfortunately, there were 6 bears.
2. Wow!! Great news and congrats Dave!
3. Well...I got out almost 200 times last year fishing...I'm ok with not going over that this year.... And yes.....cabin fever is reaching it's high point....we need warm fishing weather!!
4. DouG has it right...unless it's bacterial, expensive antibiotics will do nothing for you.
5. I hate it when little convenience stores try to scam the govt out of taxes. When I go in there, many times I find that they punch in the prices, but the cash register drawer is open the whole time and they never complete the sale. They "pretend" to punch it all up and then ask for the total price...tax included. Of course the idea here is that they pocket the tax they collected from me as extra profit. When I see this happen, I'll ask for the receipt...even if it's only for a few bucks and make them enter in their register so they have to remit those taxes.
6. Yowzers!!!!
7. Way to go Scott! Both on the fish and the life realization. You are right...fishing can be addictive and relationship destroying if taken to the extreme. It sounds like you are a much happier man...keeping a balance in life is what it's all about. That being said, I still want to fish with you in the spring...LOL.
8. Wow...I was working at the time...and I didn't know anything was even going on! The power didn't even flicker at the office. I took the train today, so I never even looked out on Yonge. Good thing I did though since traffic was all closed off. Here's the news story.... http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_20005.aspx Hydro Explosion Causes Huge Power Outage Tuesday February 26, 2008 CityNews.ca Staff Just in time for rush hour, a block of roads in Toronto's north end are shut down. A hydro vault exploded, sending black smoke into the air, around 3pm Tuesday. Power is out from Bathurst west to Bayview and St. Clair north to Eglinton. Eglinton has reopened, after it was closed to traffic from Yonge to Mt Pleasant. The closure lasted for almost three hours at the height of the evening commute. It appears that the blast was caused by an electrical shortage. Denise Attallah, spokesperson for Toronto Hydro, said that power is nearly restored. "Fire services and crews are on working to determine the damage and start repairing," she confirmed. No one was hurt.
9. Hey Will, I've noticed something... It seems that when you are not wearing a hat, you catch nice fish or great numbers.......coincidence??? This was the day you caught around 20 bass...compared to Bly and me combined oh...7. Another great fish...
10. Nothing in the east GTA either...came down as snow and melted on contact.
11. Hey wait a minute....where did you find this? That's me when I was a kid...LOL. At least I dont wear diapers anymore. Great little video Gerritt! He certainly has all the moves down!
12. Looks like Beans is gonna be awake for a few days...going fishing??
13. I've been meaning to get this done this winter as well. Congrats and thanks for the reminder!
14. Hmm...there were some explanations that just dont add up. The govt's official story is that it was Columaris bacteria that caused it, yet they didn't find any in Scugog carp, where the die off began. I think it had something to do with aliens....the truth is out there.
15. Wow...here's the news story...at least it ended and no one was hurt! I cant see this sort of thing happening a lot up here though...after all, we do tend to be a bit complacent! As long as people will pay for the gas, the price will keep going up....and for most of us, it's not a luxury, but a necessity. We'll begin to cut other things out of our budgets before gas. http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_19979.aspx Highway 400 Reopens Following Bomb Scare Tuesday February 26, 2008 CityNews.ca Staff A tense standoff between police and a man threatening to blow himself up has ended. Highway 400 reopened in both directions at Aurora Rd. overnight after the man surrendered to authorities following several hours of negotiating. It all began at about 9:30pm Monday, when the man allegedly told police he'd detonate several propane tanks in his car when the next tanker truck drove by. The suspect, 44-year-old Roderick Anderson of Nottawasaga Township, turned himself over to police just after 1am. He faces several charges. The closure meant thousands of drivers were stuck on the road for hours, wondering what was going on. "Been here for two hours," noted Allen Mizrachi. "Some people are running out of gas and it's getting cold out." Another motorist, Joe Tiano, added, "Look at this. It's for miles. We'll get home eventually." And driver Geoff Perry complained, "I think it's rather ridiculous. We've got to work in the morning and so does everyone else here. What's going on up there?" The highway was reopened in both directions by 3am, meaning a wait of several hours for some people and undoubtedly a tiring day at work on Tuesday.
16. Sure must have been a tasty meal! Great job out there!
17. Amazing Will!! Guess it was a little better than catching dinky perch the day before eh?? The one you got there in your first pic is a great size....did you have it for dinner yesterday?
18. Awesome video and great day on the ice. If I knew enough to catch fish like that thru the ice, I'd be out there more often!! LOL
19. Mike...wow...you've shown us once again how it's done! Great fish and pics...and happy you were able to get away from all that work for a well deserved break. One thing...did they beg you on their own accord or did you put them up to it so you'd have some ammo to use with your wife???? Great stuff!
20. He revealed it to Bly in a drunken state at Lakair last year...sworn to secrecy of course.... The reciepe that is...get yer mind out of the gutter!!
21. You aren't spared from anything Mike. That was an Ontario weather statement...it's coming your way too!!!
22. What??? LOL. It's true...most of my fish are caught in Lake Ontario, and I still remember the days in the 70's when the warnings were around about not eating anything from the lake. I just started fishing a year and a half ago (after a 20 year break) and today was the first time I ever tried to clean and cook fish. These perch were out of Simcoe so I thought, why not??
23. Extra plug!!!
24. Well, I've been on this board for over a year now, and bly and I pretty much live release everything we catch. Well, at the Fishing for Tyler event yesterday, we brought home a bunch of perch with the idea of trying our first fish fry.....

Ok...so we had a sink full of Perch....had to figure out how to clean them all...

A quick search on the internet brings up a bunch of videos and sites that show you how to clean fish. So, I chose one of them and decided to try to clean them. I'm sure I left some meat on them, but I managed to get thru this exercise in about 45 minutes. I had my helper handing me the fish one at a time, while I sliced them up.....

Then, using TJs secret batter recipe, we fried them up...and the kitchen was filled with sweet smells!

And here's the final result....and it turned out great!!!
25. In a year where the winter has been the snowiest in years, we have yet another storm tracking south of the great lakes, which means snow for us here in Ontario. The snowy winter of 2007 - 2008 continues. Another snowstorm is expected to affect southern Ontario Tuesday. The low pressure centre should develop over Colorado late tonight and track to the northeast as it intensifies Monday and Tuesday. The latest computer models are showing that the low will stay to the south of the Great Lakes. This means yet another snowfall for most of southern Ontario.. Beginning Monday night over southwestern Ontario and Tuesday morning over eastern Ontario. Snowfall in the Toronto area may start near the Tuesday morning rush. Current indications are that 10 to 15 centimetres of snow are likely for regions near lakes Erie and Ontario with lesser amounts further north. There is the potential for higher amounts of snow as well as freezing rain especially near the lake shores of Erie and Ontario and Along the St Lawrence river. However this far in advance..Much uncertainty remains about the track of the low and the associated snow amounts. Environment Canada will continue to monitor this situation closely and will issue further statements and watches and warnings as required. Listen for further statements. Additional information may also be found by consulting the latest public forecast. The next public forecast will be issued by 5 AM. END/ALSEN/MA
