The effect is that I'll make sure I buy gas at local stations, rather than at marinas. This is the first spring/summer with the boat, so I have nothing to compare it to...I just hope to be able to use it more than a few times this year!

LOL...leave it to Wayne to start the thread on it's inevitable downhill swing.... -
....of this snow and winter. Before I got the new car, I had to put the old one in the garage in the winter because it wouldn't start in very cold weather. Now that I have a new one that starts, I decided to take the boat off the driveway and put it in the garage!!! After taking the tarp off, I pushed her inside. I figure it was time for it to thaw out. The garage is insulated, so it will be above freezing all the time. I put her back up on axle stands. I was finally able to fix a problem that I noticed while it was up on the driveway. At low speeds, I noticed the trailer moving back and forth quite a bit and couldn't figure out why. When I put her away for the winter, I spun the tires and noticed that they were not centered on the hub correctly. We then figured out that they put the tapered lug nuts on the wrong way. Good thing I only towed the boat 2 times...and only 20 minutes away from home. Anyhow, once in the garage, I fixed that and they now spin centered on the hub. Now that it's uncovered and warm inside, I can begin to fix it up in preparation for the spring. I'm going to install the salty rod holders that I bought at BPS over Christmas, replace a burned out bulb, put in a 4 rod holder rack for when we are motoring from spot to spot. I also am thinking of a small casting deck on the front of the boat as well. Anyhow, I figure that if I angle the boat in the motor will go under the shelf located at the back of the garage (you can see what I mean in the pic)...will be great not to have to worry about the gear in there after a fishing trip and just leave it all inside, recharge the batter without taking it out of the boat etc.... Well, as you can see, I cant wait for spring...bly came out to take this pic as I daydreamed....

Shortly after that pic was taken, I told her that it couldn't be any bigger than it was...just for those reasons. She now filled it up with diamonds (snowballs)....LOL. I did have the safety thing in mind, and told her she could not dig it any further than she had already...after I explained why, she said ok. She had a friend over today playing, who wanted to make it bigger and I heard her say that they couldn't because it's not safe...makes a dad proud....haha.

I was taught with Young Drivers of Canada back in 1987 that if there was any kind of situation on the right shoulder (could be a tow truck, person changing a tire, or emergency vehicles), to change lanes. If the situation was on the left shoulder then move one lane to the right. Whenever I see a disabled vehicle on the shoulder, I always change lanes...you never know if someone is just about to exit their vehicle.

I took the day off work today. With all that snow on our front lawn, and a bored 5 year old inside the house, we decided to head to the front yard...I gave her a shovel and said go make a hole in the yard...LOL. Here's what it looked like before we started... That worked for about a minute...she then said, "I need help daddy". So, I went out and dug a huge hole in the ground that measured maybe 3 by 4 feet. Here's a shot of her standing in it..... Then she informed me that just one hole was boring and could I make a hallway and a bedroom? I just laughed, but she was dead serious. 20 minutes later, with me out of breath, she walked through her new house and tried it out.... She THEN informed me that she needed stairs because it was too hard for her to get in and out of her new house....10 minutes later and here they are.... Then came the final inspection...I was out of breath, ready for a nap....you can see the stairs, the first room, the hallway and the bedroom. I told her it was time to head inside for hot chocolate, but she said "Daddy...we cant go yet...my bedroom is too small and where am I supposed to eat?". I just looked at her completely flabbergasted....sweat pouring off my face and said "Are you serious?". She put her hands on her hips and said "Do I look like it?" We ended up coming inside...the third room and expansion will have to come tomorrow....LOL. Here's a final shot of her making a secret entrance to her room.... I get to go back to work tomorrow so I can relax....LOL.

Mike....similar numbers here in Ontario....at 7pm, the OPP was saying 700 accidents since last night. A few more pics.... 401 near my place, time was 8:18pm Another spot on the 401 in the east end of Toronto....never seen so few cars on the road! This was taken a few minutes ago from my front door...about 50 feet of visibility.
-
Mike...we got hit hard, but I was looking at some radar for your region and you are getting it much worse! We had times of zero visibility, but not as bad as you. Here are some pics from this morning...before it got windy.

Live update... It's snowing like CRAZY here right now....LOL. Here's the view from my front door....
-
LOL...yep...that's what I do. I believe that we appreciate spring and summer more because of the winters we go through.

LOL Glen.... Still not as bad as here...we just had a 2 hour break from the snow...started snowing again. Later today we are supposed to have blizzard conditions (by US Standards...Ontario's Blizzard standard means it must be -25C with the windchill...we wont have that). Projections are over a foot of snow still to come. Bly has cancelled her trip to Michigan....she was supposed to drive there today with our oldest. Still though...good to see the snow all the way down there....haha.
