  1. Love these clips. Doesn't matter to me if they are staged or not....I think most of us, at one time or another has wanted to do what some of these people did....LOL.
  2. When it comes right down to it, companies get away with these higher prices because people continue to buy them at those prices. Sure, some people are making conscious decisions to buy from the US to get the price break, but the majority of people do not do this. Unless the price difference is causing a significant impact to sales, then prices will remain higher...depsite the high Canadian dollar.
  3. So, with the last total lunar eclipse until 2010 coming this Thursday, who is going to be out there taking photographs? I've seen lots of great photos on here and I am looking forward to see what the membership here can come up with. I seem to remember some great shots from Dan last year...let's hope the weather cooperates!
  4. Great report! I gotta get my butt to Scugog for some ice fishing. Nice pics and writeup...thanks for taking the time to post!
  5. Call your local tackle shop...they may be able to help you out with a repair. If they cant do them onsite, then they'll be able to point you in the right direction.
  6. Great news! A new chapter. Always a bit scary, but things just have a way of working out. My commute is 55km each way every day. I keep checking for things locally to pop up...I'd gladly take a 15-20% pay cut to work closer to home. It's expensive working in Toronto...not just for gas, but everything else that comes with it!!! Good luck...and dont worry, if you have to skip one year on that fishing trip, it'll still be well worth it.
  7. Great report! Some great eaters there for sure. Hopefully the ice firms up nicely for this weekend....probably my only ice fishing outing of the year!
  8. Yep...Bly and I are planning to be there! Looking forward to meeting you.
  9. WOW!!!! Amazing report guys! Some awesome fish there...looked like a great time. That is one heck of a fish you got there Wayne!!!!
  10. Oh sure...I spend time out there daily shoveling our rink off, flooding it at night to my family can use it maybe 4 days a week for an hour at a time and you get this??? LOL. That lovely weather pattern on the weekend turned my rink to slush and water.... Looked like a fun day out there TJ!
  11. Glad to hear you relate your experiences! I just know that one year we did have a PA day on Remembrance Day and even though we knew it was Nov 11th, me and half my classmates forgot to observe our moments of silence. I remember feeling badly about it. We used to have WW1 vets come in on the 11th, had them talk about their experiences and had someone playing the trumpet leading into the moments of silence... Seeing those vets standing and saluting the flag in those ceremonies will always stick with me....pretty powerful stuff...our gym was always completely silent in awe of everything. At least we all agree that their efforts should be recognized...they fought for our freedom, and I'm damn proud to be a Canadian.
  12. LOL...great pic of our resident "L"und guy....
  13. Woke up and went trib fishing with my wife at first light. Nothing was going on, so we had a nice breakfast at a local greasy spoon. Came home around 10:00am and then made some crafts with my 5 year old daughter until lunch. Here's our handiwork...thank goodness for the internet and ideas...LOL. After lunch my 5 yr old and I went to a local convenience store to get some things for baking cookies. We made a few dozen chocolate chip cookies together....I overcooked them, but what do you want...it was the first time I ever made them....and I took instructions from a 5 yr old.....haha. We also made an impression of her little hand....been meaning to do this for years and today seemed as good a day as any to accomplish this.... We then rented a few movies and ate dinner in front of the TV and let her stay up 1/2 hour later than her usual bedtime....here's a pic of us at the end of her day..... Now comes the fun part....clean up.....tomorrow I get to go to work so I can relax....phew!!!
  14. Hey there test! We have some great carp anglers on this board....Photoz, Wolfville, Victor, MJL and DSN just to name a few. My wife and I dabble in it in May/June. Welcome to the board...looking forward to your reports.
  15. I'm home today. Went to a local trib mouth with Bly at first light and drifted some pretty muddy, fast moving water, knowing I wasn't going to catch anything, but it was better than a day at the office!!! Tried for about an hour and then we went for breakfast at a local greasy spoon. Came home, did a hand print of my 5 year old in plaster, and I think later we're going to bake cookies together. Nothing else really planned, just spend the day together.
  16. Glad to hear you were ok again Glen, but I was more concerned with your boat...LOL. Just kidding of course. I never used to care about those tornado warnings in the southern US....but now I always check to make sure you've been online recently!!!
  17. Excellent report Bernie! (and HH, Gerritt and Corey). Always great to see mini G2Gs like these...very good of you to host those yahoos Bernie....LOL.
  18. Great work Keram! I dont know the first thing about work like that, but I do know that it looks great!
  19. Great stuff Mike! Some pretty incredible pictures and it looks like it was a great family day out. There was even fish in this report!! LOL. Good on you to spend that quality time with the family....you're a good hubby and dad.
  20. Beautiful!!! Awesome pics...good to see the Niagara fishable again.
  21. Where are the fish pics?? LOL. Great pics...looked like a great time. I have always wanted to visit there....but I can never seem to save up enough money....seems I just have to have that new rod/lure/boat.....
  22. I heard an interview with some vets and in fact it was a request from them that they do NOT make it a stat holiday. Their thinking was that where do most people learn about our vet's contributions? In school...that's where. If it was a stat holiday, then their single biggest awareness campaign for what they went through is lost. I tend to agree with this thinking...that's where I learned all about the war...the moments of silence are always done at school. I for one, am glad it's not a stat holiday for those reasons.
  23. It's was like that last night and the night before. Glen has it right... "The ring around the Moon is caused by cirrus clouds up in the atmosphere. Those couds are about 5 - 7 miles up, where the temp is about 70 degrees below zero, so the clouds are made of ice crystals. The Moons light passes through the crystals like light pasing through a prism, so you get a halo. Some are small and some large. The large halo usually means precipitation sometime during the next 36 hours." Taken from: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Astronomy-1360/...around-moon.htm
  24. Or....dreaming of fish means you love catching fish. Sometimes a fish is just a fish....LOL.
  25. This is our first year with a boat, so I'm really looking forward to exploring as many Kawartha lakes as possible. Would like to have a decent year targeting bass, walleye and muskie on those lakes. From shore, I look forward to landing my first 30 pound salmon, get a new PB Steelhead and beat my PB walleye of 14.5 pounds.
