TORONTO PIKE REPORT - Nice surprise for lunch
ccmtcanada replied to snag's topic in General Discussion
Great report Grant!!! Yet another pike war wound! I still have a scar from one I got over a year ago...mind you at least mine was from the fish itself instead of my own lure...LOL. It's great seeing more soft water reports....all these ice reports, although great, were starting to depress me....haha. -
I heard great things about Salty as well, so I picked up a few this winter....cant wait to mount them on the boat!
-
Oh sure...you go out and catch more fish today than I have ever caught TOTAL....LOL. Great job Scott! We'll have to get out soon!!!
-
GO transit? You're kidding right? LOL. You are right though UA...there are alternatives. I usually take the GO when there is bad weather, and the on time rate plummets to around 50% during rush hour...If you have a flexible manager who doesn't mind you being late, then all the better. The problem is that it's more expensive for me to take the GO and TTC than it is to drive, even when you consider the price of gas, parking and wear and tear on my vehicle. Also, in good weather, it takes me longer to take public transportation.

I can offer tips on catching them from shore, but from a boat I'm in the same situation as you. Let me know and I can PM you some info. Oh yeah...my stuff is all night fishing too.
-
You are simply on FIRE this ice season!!! They should have cut their losses and just filmed you fishing....LOL. Great job...great story...and above all, great fish!!!
-
It looks to me that it's putting money IN her purse..... Great pic!

Hey Glen...great pictures! I can now picture your outings better. I was going to ask for the GPS coordinates, but I dont think that's necessary now....LOL.
-
I have no shame.... I will donate the tickets to the next person who posts a pic...LOL

They are only asking that lights go out...you can still watch the hockey game....LOL.

Conserving energy and reducing the stress on the power grid is in many people's best interest. I do not want to make this a global warming debate, but rather simply ask if anyone has heard of this and how many are planning on participating. Here's a little background.... (taken from http://www.earthhour.org/about) "On 31 March 2007, 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney businesses turned off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour. This massive collective effort reduced Sydney's energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour, which is the equivalent effect of taking 48,000 cars off the road for a year. With Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turning their lights off, and unique events such as weddings by candlelight, the world took notice. Inspired by the collective effort of millions of Sydneysiders, many major global cities are joining Earth Hour in 2008, turning a symbolic event into a global movement" So, what do you think about Earth Hour? My office is participating in this event...and our family will also participate at home.

I didn't say "can't"...I said "didn't"....two completely different things....LOL

Like I said in Joey's thread....seeing all these great non perch ice fishing threads almost makes me want to ice fish more.......almost.......
-
What a great report! Congrats Joey (yeah, and Tybo too). Sounded like a very eventful and fun day. Catching a fish by hand...that would have been a sight to see! Your reports this winter almost makes me want to ice fish more....almost.....LOL Great job out there...thanks for yet another great report.

Update from Environment Canada..... City of Toronto 2:43 PM EST Thursday 6 March 2008 Winter storm watch for City of Toronto issued ..Another winter Wallop threatens spring forward weekend.. This is an alert to the potential development of dangerous winter weather conditions in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. A winter storm is currently brewing over Texas with the potential to bring significant snow to most of southern Ontario. It appears that the snow will come in two doses. The first shot will begin as early as Friday afternoon for southwestern Ontario and Friday evening in eastern Ontario. We may have a brief reprieve overnight into Saturday morning where snow may become light and more intermittent. The heaviest snowfall is then expected in the second shot beginning later Saturday. Keep in mind that this storm is expected to last for 36 to 48 hours. Storm totals may be near 30 centimetres along and east of a line from Long Point to the Golden Horseshoe then to Petawawa. There is potential for 30 to 50 centimetres of snow over the Niagara Peninsula and parts of eastern Ontario. Areas west of the Long Point to Petawawa line should see between 10 to 20 centimetres with lesser amounts near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Behind this system we could see strong northerly winds to 60 km/h. On Saturday strong winds combined with fresh snow will cause blowing snow to lower visibilities and create dangerous driving conditions. Whiteout conditions are possible so travellers should be prepared to alter their plans accordingly. Total snowfall amounts will depend on the track of this system. There is still some uncertainty as to the exact track of this storm. Environment Canada will closely monitor this situation and issue warnings as required within the next 24 hours. Yep...I read that right.....30 to 50cm!!!!

Hmm....this seems to be too much like work....LOL. Good luck to all that enter.

kayak fishing tournament in Southern Ontario
ccmtcanada replied to NAC's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like a blast! I landed one in a canoe, and I'm sure it's just as much fun in a kayak. That being said, I have never kayaked before, so I'd probably skip this kind of event... -
Where are you going Wayne?

The ONLY good thing about all this snow this winter, is that hopefully water levels in the tribs and other shore fishing spots will improve to the point where fishing can actually happen in the spring! Then again, if you've read the article the Spiel posted about Lake Simcoe in the news section, this could add to an already potential disastrous situation. I've attached the latest weather statement, but there are no snowfall totals in there. Accuweather.com is saying the potential from London to Toronto (as well as Eastern Ontario and Southern Quebec) is 30+cm of snow. Here's a link to accuweathers blog.... http://www.accuweather.com/news-blogs.asp?...p;blog=anderson Anyhow...to view the latest updates, check this link....check both the weather statements and the public warnings. http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/warnings_e.html WOCN11 CWTO 060947 Special weather statement Issued by Environment Canada Ontario region. 4:47 AM EST Thursday 6 March 2008. Special weather statement issued for.. City of Toronto Windsor - Essex - Chatham-Kent Sarnia - Lambton Elgin London - Middlesex Simcoe - Delhi - Norfolk Dunnville - Caledonia - Haldimand Oxford - Brant Niagara City of Hamilton Halton - Peel York - Durham Huron - Perth Waterloo - Wellington Dufferin - Innisfil Belleville - Quinte - Northumberland Kingston - Prince Edward Peterborough - Kawartha Lakes Stirling - Tweed - South Frontenac Bancroft - Bon Echo Park Brockville - Leeds and Grenville City of Ottawa Gatineau Prescott and Russell Cornwall - Morrisburg Smiths Falls - Lanark - Sharbot Lake Renfrew - Pembroke - Barry's Bay. ..Snow beginning Friday ahead of next snow storm on Saturday.. The storms keep on coming this winter with the next Major system Threatening to give heavy snow on Saturday.. Especially over eastern Ontario. A broad area of snow will develop on Friday over the regions ahead of another Texas low estimated to track up the eastern seaboard on Saturday. There is the potential that this storm will intensify into one of the biggest snow makers of the winter for eastern Ontario. Once the track of the low is determined winter storm watches or warnings may be issued. Listen for further statements. Additional information may also be found by consulting the latest public forecast. The next public forecast will be issued by 5 AM. END/MEREDITH
