Thanks Solo, just wanted to confirm. It would have been a shame otherwise.

I just went to the website, are they just moving or going out of business? Ken gave me my first taste of fly fishing when I took a course he instructed at Conestoga College.

Don't head up there much wish I had known about the 50% off sale, don't need anything major just some leaders, tippets, etc

well i drove over the jordon harbour yesterday on my way back from Great Wolf lodge with the family and does not look like it would be safe to ice fish.

Can't believe all the issues people are having renewing. It took me a few minutes online to renew for 3 years and I have paper copy printed until my card arrives plus I have it saved as a pdf copy so if I ever lose my paper copy I am good. Anyways I am surprised none the less because it was such a smooth process for myself and for any of my friends I have talked too.

All good tips, it will come with time. Reading water can be learned in a book but it takes time on the water to apply that knowledge appropriately. When I use to float fish (i don't go often now) I found adjusting the shot pattern/leader lengths to be the first change I would make as Bill says they are not smart and they can ravenous feeders so its about getting the bait into there feeding lanes. Of course as the temperature drops they are more lethargic but a nice drift with your bait ticking bottom should see results. Anyways it looks like with this relatively warm weather you still have plenty of opportunities to get into fish.

My brother inlaw tells me they can be pretty vicious when cornered. His shops guard dogs kill many things including possums usually if its a racoon or something they are no worse from the wear but when they kill possums they usually have some battle wounds the next morning. Of course the poor possum doesn't stand a chance to win because its 2 on 1 but can still do some significant damage. I'd be worried about your dog.

I am so sorry for your loss as pet lover myself, I can only imagine how difficult a decision it was especially given how the whole situation unfolded. My deepest sympathy and condolences for your loss.

Shopping for a new SUV, info and opinions please.

Depending on the size of these dogs sounds like you need something in large SUV size range. -
Thanks for the update, I think everyone here is hoping for the best for peanut. You are a good man to be thinking of the other family at this time. If you do talk to them there might be a chance the dog does not need to be put down, it could find a home as a guard dog at somewhere.

Funny, I had a terrible experience with a wiemeraner that tried to attack my German Shepherd when she was still a puppy so I unfortunately have bias against them although I try my best not too. We were packing up from a soccer game and I was taking off my shin pads and had my dog on leash in my hand this thing came out of nowhere and charged us, thankfully I didn't have good grip on the lease and my dog was able to pull away and maneuver out of being bitten. It caused a real melee because my friends have rottweiler that immediately pulled its way into the mix but the good news is that the rottweiler intimidated the wiemeraner into backing away. The owner was still a good soccer field away at this point. Anyways so many people regardless of breed have no clue when it comes to dogs, sometimes I think we forget they are dogs and it only takes seconds for things to go bad, especially with the large breeds. As German Shepherd owner you definitely don't feel the love and many are intimidated by them and I think they often pick up on that nervous energy. But you see incidents like poor peanut here and you can see why people are afraid. Here are some interesting stats for the large dog owner out there and why you need to have control of your dog not that small-mid sized dog owners are off the hook: The German Shepherd has a bite force of 238lbs Rottweiler around 265 Pitbull 235 Golden Retriever 230 How does this compare to other animals Humans around 120 Lions around 700

I thought it was going to be honey will you let me buy this (insert fishing equipment here). Hahaha, marriage has whipped me good and I am only 3 years in.

In terms of fishing board games. I own the Walleye tournament board, its a trivia game that is set up like a walleye tournament highest amount of fish at weigh-in wins basically. I love it but sadly most don't want to join me in playing the game at the cottage. I am going to a father/son/boys ice fishing weekend at the end of January and am thinking I will bring it.

Sorry to hear that, it makes me sick and I have a German Shepherd and would never want her to do that to anyones animal or vise versa. As a German Shepherd owner (purebred), I find a lot of owners give us a bad name. The German Shepherd is a good breed like most but needs a good owner as they are working dogs and have high energy and drive. You need to give them lots of exercise or a job to do. This dog is likely not well trained/socialized and does not get the necessary exercise needed and its prey drive just took over. Obviously just me speculating. I am not surprised at the damagebecause they are such a powerful dog and that's why you need to be a good owner. I hope your dog has a quick recovery and what a scary incident.

Yeah I only went to CT because it seemed straight forward and is short walk to my work, my trusted mechanic is a little further out of the way. Anyways I plan to bring it to them in the next couple days to see whats what. Basically CT confirmed why I was always leary to go there.
-
thanks all, I told them to just do the flush as requested and I will take it to my mechanic who I actually trust. Kind of annoying, I only brought it in for a specific purpose and did not ask them to do an inspection of my vehicle. When they called back again, they also said the brakes needed to be done which I know is not true.

Which fishing year would you consider to be your very best?
torco replied to Leecher's topic in General Discussion
Amazing, your name makes total sense now. You did what most of dream of but never have the courage or foresight to do and then when you realize what you should have done, the moment has passed and life doesn't allow for it. Sorry to get all philosophical but I work in a cubicle for 8hrs a day and started working right after school. I chose a safe career but my heart is always in the outdoors not inside. Anyways I can't remember the particular year maybe 2000 time frame. I was in my last year of high school with not much work to do, I fished the eastern tributaries (lived in oshawa at the time) heavily and literally all year. I got so dialed into the fishing it was incredible found spots that hold resident browns, resident rainbows plus all the migratory salmon and trout I could enjoy. I remember working afternoon shifts till about midnight, going home grabbing my gear and fishing out of the mouth of port hope in august with virtually no one there and landing many beautiful silver chinook salmon from shore or my small 12 foot aluminum boat. Those were the days since then I have some great adventures but never did I have as much freedom to fish as that year. -
Hi, I took my van in today to Canadian tire not my normal mechanic for a coolant flush. My wife accidentally put the washer fluid into the coolant reservoir Which is really not a huge deal an honest mistake it was dark. Anyways my issue is this they just left me a message that said one of my front tie rods is extremely loose and dangerous and needs to be replaced. Its possible its a 5 year vehicle about 70,000 km on it but I am not sure I should trust Canadian Tire? I am wondering if I should say no thanks and take it to my regular mechanic tomorrow.

I have done the samething solo suggested it works well just make sure you mark where the leak was so when you are no longer in the dark you can still find it. I just held the waders in the spot with my fingers and aquasealed it up once i was back in the light.

Sorry I was in a rush when i wrote that. You are right you can do it, but there is not might about it you would be breaking the law and it is probably unethical. I just wanted it to be clear that it is against the law, are some people and companies out doing it? I am sure there are but we shouldn't make blanket statements and assume that companies are taking $2 bucks at the till for every customer and turning around and claiming it on their income tax filings.
-
The corporation can definitely not by claim a tax break for any funds donated by you that would be against the law. Its the same as if you give me money to give to a specific charity, I can't claim that for tax purposes.

interesting report, I wasn't sure if it was going to be a real story or not Did anyone else notice that the banner ads for this post are about the other kinds of cougars, lol.
