  1. Thank God he had all those whippets with him!! (only Bill will get it, don't ask LOL!)
  2. At first glance yes, similar baits have been around forever. But look closer. These lures are just a hair over 3" long. Downsizing your presentation has always been used when finesse is needed. I definitely won't be using the term "spybaiting" anytime soon. LOL!
  3. It's a hoax. It's really the bearded guy from the movie The Hangover.
  4. I bought half a dozen batteries online for my Canon camera for under 5 bucks each. Mainly so I'd never run out of juice on any of my extended trips in the bush. Was a Canadian online retailer, can't remember which. Still going on strong well into my second year with these batteries. Can't imagine why anyone would pay full pop but each to their own.
  5. Seeing you in one of those things would be worth the price. I'm buying you one.
  6. Holy cow, exactly where is it you live??? (If you're ever looking for a steelhead fishing partner I'm there!) Just an outstanding report, very cool! I had heard rumors of walleye in BC but had no clue there were natural lakes. I'll bet no one fishes for them either. Nice float rod too. Was yours the one with all the counterweights in the butt?
  7. No kidding eh? Personally the only thing that concerns me is the iminent invasion and exactly how are we going to appease our new robot overlords.
  8. Nice video, very enjoyable! So, have you quit your day job yet?
  9. Barberio? Ugh. Adam Sandler's character from The Wedding Singer just scored to tie the game. The 80's called, they want their flowing curly headed mullet back LOL!
  10. Thought so. For anyone interested, beyond cheering for the wrong hockey team, Yannick is a very personable and keen young man. I'm sure that if you took him up on his offer you'd have a great trip.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we meet at the OOD conference at Buckhorn in Oct?
  12. I had a CRV before and I currently have a Nissan XTrail which is comparable. No way I'd tow something that big with either for long distances. I tried towing my 16' Lund and 40 horse 4 stroke Yammy with the XTrail and it struggled. (fwiw the XTrail has a slightly more powerful 4cyl than the CRV)
  13. Have never tried horse, but it wouldn't faze me. When I lived in the Philippines I ate dog more than once and it was delicious. Many years back on one of my long solo expeditions in the far north I ate a chubby little groundhog. At the time it was maybe the best thing I'd ever eaten in my life. Best beware if you ever survive a plane crash with me high in the Andes.
  14. If anyone's willing to tackle the project, here's the template I'd like you to use.
  15. Cold fronts and an ensuing high pressure system will make for a tough bite, winter or summer. However, my personal opinion is the biggest factor that negatively affects the ice fishing bite is the amount of snow and light penetration. As the ice season gets longer the bite often gets tough when there's a heavy snow pack that inhibits light penetration. It's for this very reason that first ice and last ice is often the best. In the dog days of winter, usually Feb, oxygen levels are depleted, light penetration is diminished and the fish seem to be almost lethargic. Could be simply coincidence that these dog days coincide with super cold temps....it's usually pretty cold in the middle of winter.
  16. Reminiscent of what the snow plow left at the end of my driveway yesterday.
  17. In my experience, yes, smart tabs would make an enormous difference.
