  1. Just got back in. Visibility on the side road I was on was reduced to zero, and I mean zero! I was virtually stopped when someone in pickup raced towards me doing 80k minimum. When he saw my headlights he veered to the right, lost control and ended up in the ditch. Stopped to help and it was a young guy, early 20's "maybe". He actually had the audacity to say to me if you can't drive in these kinds of conditions you shouldn't be on the road. He got an earful from me before I called a towtruck for him.
  2. What you need to do is click on "more reply options" then in the top right corner enable HTML. That should do the trick.
  3. You need to use a hosting site like photobucket. Obviously you first have to create an account with photobucket and upload some pictures which is pretty straight forward. Once that's done follow these instructions:
  4. Not sure I agree, but it is what it is.
  5. I'd cut the old guy some slack. I would hope our MNR would have better things to do.
  6. Cool. I'm a big fan of the RX8's.
  7. Welcome oh bearded one! I for one would like to see some pic's from your travels as well!
  8. Angling Specialties will have it.
  9. That's exactly what most guys are doing when they build a baitcasting rod for steelhead, at least if it's primary use is floatfishing. Can't go wrong with the MHX, they're a beautiful blank for the money.
  10. My personal opinion is it has nothing to do with the quality of the blank, rather how it's wrapped. This particular rod had the first guide on the butt section wrapped about an inch away from where the two sections were joined at the ferrule. I've never seen anything so stupid, there's way too much stress on the ferrule when the rod is loaded. I emailed St. Croix about it to offer my opinion and never heard back. Dollars to donuts if I bought that same blank and had it built by Spiel it would be bulletproof.
  11. I've always been a big fan of the Avids, but last year I broke two 81/2 rods rated 12-25lb. First one snapped like a twig at the ferrule on the first trip. Was replaced and the second one broke first time I used it also right at the ferrule. The new Raven 111/2' RPX is a pretty sweet off the rack baitacaster, but also kind of pricey. On the lower end of the budget Rapala has an R type steelhead baitcaster for around 150. A lot of guys I know who are into it are building baitcasters using MHX blanks from Mudhole. They're a GREAT blank for the price and very very inexpensive. Built with simple components like preformed cork and a Fuji reel seat you could likely get one built quite inexpensively.
  12. Some great fish there man, well done!
  13. Happy birthday Jen! I've stayed away from this thread for over 3 years now, not because I don't care, but because honestly it hits too close to home and it just hurts too damn much. All the best to you Jen, and everyone in your clan. You are inspiring.
  14. Not quite sure why, but I can't stop laughing.
  15. High praise Bunk, thanks! Still working on getting the site compatible with mobile devices, hopefully within a week.
  16. It's the same bird! Can't you see the black slash on his forehead?
  17. Was going to chime in earlier Steve. I have a buddy who lives up there who fishes that lake occasionally. I've asked him about the ramp, just waiting to hear back from him. There is a lodge on the lake though, you could ask them?
  18. Good Lord those are fantastic photos Mike!
  19. Before I begin, an explanation first. I now have my own website where all of my past trip reports are archived. All of my future reports will be posted there as well. This obviously presented a dillemma for me as I've always been an active member of this board and I always will be. Earlier today I asked the powers that be if it was okay to simply post a link to my site where the bulk of the report is posted. Thankfully they said yes, and once again guys THANK YOU! So without further ado, a teaser: A number of years back my group of 4 flew into Kenozha Lake in mid July with Northern Outposts out of Armstrong. Just incredible numbers of walleye, it's definitely a numbers lake! Two spots in particular, a major inflowing river and the outlet at the opposite end of the lake teemed with fish. We also waded and fished the outflow river and a couple of times walked a trail over to another lake where two boats/motors were cached. We caught fish pretty much everywhere we fished! The camp itself was an absolute gem, set on a beautiful sand beach and complete with hot/cold running water and shower, solar lighting and radio communication with the base. As far as outpost camps go it doesn't get much better! TO VIEW THE ENTIRE POST CLICK HERE: http://www.canadafishingguide.net/forum-2/member-trip-reports-1/kenozha-lake-outpost-tons-of-pics-1/
  20. In that price range I'd be looking at a Shimano Saros FA. They redesigned them last year and are an incredible reel for the money.
  21. Nice Garry. What blanks did you build on?
