  1. Thanks for the report Brian, looks like you are finally having some fishing fun down there. BUT,................... what is that bright red "codpiece" in the 4th picture,
  2. I have had minnows active for over 7 hrs., and some that seem to just give up after 10 minutes. I believe it is oxygen and temperature related. Some we get the day before just do not perform, but ones I have had in my buckets down the basement with the aerator, are active all day, and I feed them goldfish flakes also every 3 days. Temperature in the bucket is a major factor, along with oxygen, you sometimes have to change the water right away when you get onto the lake. Think about it, you have them in a stable temperature environment, then take them into a different temperature zone, without aeration, or food, they slow down, to preserve their life. Its a natural reaction. Hooking them through the lips should not be a problem, but it may make it a bit tougher for them to breath properly, hooking them just in front of, or behind the dorsal fin (your choice, I try both) makes their breathing easier. We change the water in the buckets when out on the lake hourly, cause sometimes the water in the lakes is not oxygenated too well, Quick temperature changes will affect your minnows also, they will get very lethargic very fast with even a small water temperature change. They like a steady change in temperature, so that they can acclimatize.
  3. Hang on a minute, gots me slide rule around heres somewheres.....................................oh, wait, dunno how to use it anymore, use it for scratching my back now, its got that nice long center strip that has a long reach,

Been in for a bit, douG was there, and Whopper, maybe they will be back, dunno, but I am still there for a bit.
  5. Ya, actually I do know the history of that saying.
  6. Unfortunately, it didn't happen to me, the redneck still managed to get through, lol.
  7. No different than a regular snowmobile douG, but you have a full height windshield with more comfortable seating, along with tunes, lol.
  8. Yup, thats funny alright, but where did you store the shovels, that you would use, to clear out the snow, from in front of the shed????????
  9. Never thought of that, did you check to see if your snowblower is still in the garage Rick????? Maybe joefish is using it to make extra money clearing other peoples driveways :w00t:
  10. Thats great Rick, but, now you haven't any excuses as to why you have not snowblowed the driveway. But, you can always blame joefish for that, lol.
  11. Nice perch. Better buy more minnow next time though. Thanks for the pictures and report.
  12. Heh, heh, heh, take the pup to a hairdresser, and get them to put some bright orange highlights on it, in firetiger pattern, then attach a BIG trailer hook to the end of the jacket. Use 80 lb. power pro at least. Should do the trick, lol.
  13. I bought a used 2000 Polaris Magnum 325. It has worked just fine for me for what I need. It does not go really fast, maybe up to a bit over 60 kmh, but speed is not a requirement for me. It has a low range, which I am appreciating more every time I use it. It is 4 wheel drive, but the 4x4 selection does not activate until rear wheel slippage is sensed. So even if 4x4 is activated, it is still in 2x4 mode. It does not go to well in snow deeper than 9 inches or so, larger displacement engined quads will probably not have as much of a problem in this area as mine. One thing you have to watch out for with the larger displacement machines is they do not fit into the back of a pickup truck, width wise, or length wise, you have to leave the tailgate down, or trailer them. So take that into consideration if you plan to put it in the back of a truck. Get the specifications from the manufacturers website ahead of time. AND, beware of offers like a free winch. Yes, the winch is free when you purchase the quad, but it is not installed on the quad, you have to buy the mount, and pay for it and the winch to be installed, unless you can do it yourself. Can you say shop rates lol? Using it on the lakes for fishing is just fine, if there is not much snow or slush, but nothing beats a snowmobile in this area. They are designed for snow, and with their speed and footprint can blast through heavier snow and slush areas way better than a quad. Get either one stuck though, and your are there for probably half an hour shoveling. Been there, done that, too often, lol. As for model or manufacturer, you will get any number of responses from people about pros and cons of manufacturers. Honda is still probably the best machine out there, but their price reflects that also. I have seen recently in the classifieds up here '86 or older honda trikes with asking prices of $2,000.00???????? It's a trike, and its 20 yrs. old????? But, people will pay that for them, its insane. I paid 4600 for my quad back in 2002, and it is 14 years newer than those Honda trikes. Hey, they all work, stick with one of the major manufacturers, and take proper care of it. Don't abuse it too much, and it will serve you well.

  15. Dat would be anything less than 60F Roy,
  16. That doesn't sound like much of a threat Art, more like a promise. Can we hold you to that???
  17. Took this pic this morning shortly before I left home to go to work.
  18. Umm, Paul, You're still in the banana belt compared to me btw. Its 26 below Farenheit up here right now, with a high of 9 below forecasted for today. Finally had to plug in the car last night.
  19. Yeah, that rubber covering traps water and moisture really good, get rid of it, cut it off or burn it off. Try hot water on it, and spray the heck out of it with WD-40. It should open. Then take it inside the house and let it dry completely. I have some padlocks that are completely exposed to the elements, and they always open, the package deal ones that are keyed alike, five in a package. Filled them with 5W30, let them leech out on some paper toweling and never had a problem since. I do re-oil them every year also. If it still does not unlock, cut it off and replace it. Glen, chill out will ya   OOPS, did I just say that?? You don't know freezing, its -26F up here right now, and the temperature will get up to a balmy -9F today.
  20. Right choice not to go without the helmets, no matter what speed you operated the quad at. Its an instant $120.00 fine if caught without one.
  21. Scott, even a person of your size cannot make that fish look small, it is definately a big fish, and extremely thick in girth and the shoulders, well done. Thanks for the post, I won't be after steel until mid april, and will not catch anything near that size up here. Heck, I hope we have enough water to even fish for them, we were in drought conditions in the fall, all of our rivers were mere trickles up the north shore. I didn't even bother to bother the fish in those conditions. We need precipitation up here badly, for the spawn, and for the fire fighting season. Lots of people have dry wells, and have to haul water in their trucks for general consumption. Lots of people up here have to shower at their workplace, and if that option is not available, join a club to shower before work, the water levels are that bad up here.
  22. WHAT????????????????? A post by CC, without pictures, without a hookup??? LORD TUNDERIN', it just cannot be. What is this world coming to??????
  23. WELCOME. To the insane asylum, lol. Give us a bit more info about your fishing interest, so that we can glean info from you for free, lol. AND, watch out for that greencoachdog guy, he likes to be half naked in most of his posts, lol. But since he is an Alabama redneck, we will give him some slack. Not much slack though.
  24. Nope, not me, never bring the stuff anymore, only water, and hot soup in a thermos(chicken broth or beef broth). Course now, i only day trip, no need for it, or the extra weight and space it will take up, I can wait til' I am home to savour the taste of alcohol.
