As a cable installer, I see one potential problem with this setup, no strain relief. If the skimmer transducer tilts too far forward for some reason, it will cause the insertion point into the transducer to crack the outer jacket of the cable. Make a "service loop", using either cable ties or electrical tape, then use a hot glue gun to protect it. I lost 2 transducers to outer jacket separation right at where the the cable enters the transducer, even with the existing strain relief on it. I used a hot glue gun to just goop it up, and made sure the cable either taped or cable tied to the shaft of whatever method you choose to use to mount it to your boat/canoe, had enough extra play in it so as not to cause it any stress. I never go anywhere without Sonar. Even packing in a couple kilometers. I have an old Eagle SupraPro ID, and have 2 different styles of brackets for the transducer depending on if I am using my 12 ft. aluminum, my buds Scanoe, or my 18 ft. aluminum canoe. Using the Scanoe and my boat, the suction cup works well. I need to transfer it to a 15" stainless rod for my canoe. It does not decipher fish hooks that well, but we just use it for bottom depth, and we are the fishfinders. We make note of depth when we catch a fish we are targeting, and try to stay at that depth. If the fishing dies off, usually late morning, we generally move a few feet deeper to see where they have moved. This is our method for walleye fishing in small inland lakes.

So where is she going Chris, and under what dicipline?? Doesn't mean she will not be up here next year, or in our satellite campus in Orillia. Know lots of students who started off in Guelph, Waterloo, U of T, Laurentian, Nippising, etc, etc, first year, then switched Colleges or Universities the next year. They have a vision of where they want to go, but after the first year, lots of them rethink their position.

Multimedia Technician for Lakehead University up here in Thunder Bay. I service/maintain classroom technology for instructors and students. I also do setups(audio/video/whatever) for conferences, press releases, remote videoconferencing on and off campus for Faculty and Administration. I/we(another guy works with me)also install technology enabled classroom equipment/videoconferencing equipment. On any given day I could be crawling through sand under a building pulling cable, or up 1-3 sections of scaffolding installing data projectors or plasma/lcd panels on walls.

Hi guys and gals, haven't posted much for a bit because not fishing as much as in the past. Lots of work this summer. Have been out a 3 or 4 times, but nothing memorable and very few pics to post. There was a post a while back about this recipe, and I could search for it, but I would like to hear about any new, or old versions to do this that members may have tried. Any and all help would be appreciated.

I know where that cabin is, and have fished Hood and surrounding lakes occasionally for years. PM me with your e-mail address, and I will try to give you more info. Hope you have a google mail account. If not, I have free invites still. Also, do you have access to a half decent full sized 4x4, small boat and motor, or canoe with a small motor on it. One set of lakes near there can be quite good at times, and I have depth maps of some of them. But, it is a brutal rocky access road that does not welcome trailers all to well. We have rather low water conditions here right now, lots of lakes down 2 feet at least. We did not get much of a snow load this year, and spring rains were non-existant.

Gotta be air getting in the fuel line leaning the mixture out somewhere, pinhole leak, bad clamp. My 3.3 outboard with internal tank does this exact thing when it runs out of gas. The fuel delivery system is not constantly pressurized(although mine is gravity feed), it gets sucked in from the tank and lines. You provide enough pressure squeezing the bulb to get it started, then the motor sucks what it needs to operate. That is my guess anyway.

I would also make sure the cables on that power plug are nice and tight, my bud had an issue 3 weeks ago with the motor failing on us twice(once after resetting the breaker it worked, 2nd time not). All it was, was a loose ground wire on said power socket on the boat. Disconnect the battery first to check the wires first though. Hope its as simple as that.

:thumbsup_anim: I love the personal attention. But, honestly, that is the only time I have fished into the wee hours of the night. Never needed to try it during soft water season.

You missed one, fishing into the night on ice until midnight or later. I don't do it often, but it can be quite a deadly tactic for walleye, especially in clear water lakes.

Yup, heard of them, but don't own any. Still have some flutter spoons, but most are black or green.

Good to see you got out Chris. What was "old faithful" by the way? Maybe one of us have a couple we don't use any more.
