Amazing. What part of the province did these beauties come from?
-
This is good news. Not much else around there. It’s a long way to Vaughan for Sail an BP.
-
Just looked it up Forecast is for normal temps and higher than normal snowfall
-
Anybody hear a long term forecast for whats coming this winter to Ontario?

Reminds me of leased lots on native land on the Bruce Peninsula. Cottage owners that had 25 yr leases were kicked off their leased lots prematurely even though they had signed documents. I dont remember the exact details but folks got pretty hot over this.

Didnt know they have different plumage in winter. Just assumed the brown ones were juveniles. Will have to check that out.

Im no pilot but flying close to ground / water leaves no room for error in case of turbulence, downdraft or mechanical problems. I thought highly of Doc as a player and human being. Got to wonder what he was thinking in that bird.

Funnel with some kind of short hose. Attach hose to livewell intake at back of boat. Remove screen first. May not be a tight fit. No big deal. Fill funnel and let boats livewell pump to pump it forward. Wait till pink liquid arrives in well. Make sure livewell valves are open (at top of livewell compartment to the side)

Big fan of Loons here. Lots at the cottage. After watching them for years, I notice that come October-November, I only ever see young Loons on the lake. Likely that years chicks. They are still a bit brown. Never see any mature one late in the year. I guess older birds get outta Dodge earlier. Maybe the younger birds cant fly well enough till late in the fall. Makes me wonder how the young birds know where to over winter. Anybody find the same thing?

Agreed but how do you get the antifreeze throughout the livewell plumbing if you dont pump from the intake at the back?
-
Well said.

Saw a picture of mice building a nest in a box of Bounce sheets.

Never did anything to my Lunds bilge pump For live wells I unscrew the intake screen at the back and using a funnel with flexible corrugated tube attached to fill intake with RV antifreeze First close valve in rear well and opening front well valve. Pump until pink liquid comes into from well. Then close front and open back. Pump. Takes about 2 litres of antifreeze. Open all doors to ventilate. Unhook starter battery after charging fully. Deep cycles stay connected and get charged monthly for a few minutes. Then kiss her good night.

So I took your advice and used a donor piece that fit in nicely. Epoxied it in. About 6 inches past the 2 piece split towards the tip. Used braided line to wrap around the repair. Then epoxied over that 2 coats. Let it sit over night. Next day gave it a good work out whipping it back and forth. The outside epoxy cracked in several places. Inside repair? Dont know. I guess its garbage. Dont want to trust it with a good fish. Will be looking at the Fishing Show for a new one. Thanks everyone

OOD magazine email has a video on fixing a rod broken in the middle. Dont know how to post it here via my phone. Buddy uses a wooden paint brush handle of the right size and epoxies it in. Then epoxies braided line over top Snapped my Muskie rod in the middle this fall. Was prepared to buy a new one. Maybe Ill try this. Anybody have any success using this or other methods? Do they stand up to a good load?

I realize it is still under investigation. They are saying the fuel tanker driver that plowed into the scene was at fault How do you drive a bomb on wheels at highway speed and be inattentive? I dont get it. Horrible for all involved.

Had a smallie on while trolling for eyes. Jumped a few times. All of a sudden the bass gets real heavy and takes line. Saw a good Muskie with the poor bass in its mouth boatside. Was cool to see.

So I used to own a Monark aluminum riveted boat that I bought used. 16 ft, walk through windshield. Fishn Ski. 60hp 2str Merc. Nice boat but started to leak at more and more rivets over a few years. Eventually couldnt keep it in the water overnight even though I fiddled with trying to seal the leaky rivets with various goops. Started my search for a new aluminum boat. Big question. Riveted or welded. After my experience with the Monark I was pretty nervous to go riveted again. But some welded boats crack, Im told. When was the last time you saw a welded plane. Saw a CO in a Crestliner(welded) on Nipissing. He had nothing but good to say about it. Anyway, I went with a Lund Tyee 1750. With fear and trepidation. It wasnt cheap. Have had this boat and Yammy 115 for 11 full seasons now. Just finished winterizing it. Pulled the drain plug on a fairly steep upward angle. Not a drop of water. Im careful with her in rough water but shes seen many tough days on Lake O and Simcoe. So far Im happy with her. The only problem I see is there is aluminum corrosion around chromed cleats and footsteps from contact with dissimilar metals Im assuming. I put about 100-200 hrs in her per year. Yammy has been great too. Will take her somewhere in the spring for timing belt and impeller. Also a plug for the Deka starting battery. Still the original. Hope I dont sound too much like an infomercial. Greatful to have a solid, problem free ride. Thought you might like to know if youre in the market some day. Cheers Peter

So why didnt I think of this ?

Just a reminder to everybody. Its peak tick season. Leaf litter, taller grass, woods are potential areas where ticks lay waiting for something to feed on Ive seen several on dogs at the clinic. Cover up and do a thorough tick check at the end of every day that youve been in tick country. Remember you wont feel the tick bite. Or feel it attached to you for up to a week. Carefully remove any ticks when theyre small and havent been attached for more than a day. Lyme disease requires the tick to be attached for 24-30 hrs. Use tweezers or needle nose pliers. Or tick lifters. Dont use your fingers or youll squeeze the gut contents of the tick into you or your dog. Grab by the head next to your skin. Be tick smart till freeze up They are active in temps above 4 C Cheers.

Had my 2013 4Runner brakes done at the dealer. All 4 wheels. Rotors/pads. 98k km. Said front calipers seized. Had to be replaced. $1600. Looked on line. Seems to be a common problem on 4Runners, Sequoias and Tundras. Toyota recommends brake service every 32k Kms. I declined it once. I'm easy on brakes when driving. Coast a lot. Is there anything I can do to prevent seizing? Maybe I should brake harder regularly?

That's great for 2.5 hrs Salmon and bows?

Muskie see a lot of lures in the Kawarthas this time of year. I do better in the spring on Pigeon. Had a good one grab my 2 lb smallie the other day trolling for eyes. After jumping the bass got awefully heavy. Ski let go boat side. Maybe 40 in. Couldn't have been fun being that smallie ? I'd troll the blue zone weather permitting this time of year.

Been changing my lower gear oil every fall. Yammy 115 2007. Always looks like new. Thinking of just checking it to see if it looks normal and maybe just topping up. New washers. Dumb idea or OK?
