News says less than half have insurance to cover the damage. Likely too expensive due to high risk area.

Wow. Thought the Fraser River was the only place to go.

I guess South Texas is pretty flat. Nowhere for the water to go. Can't imagine 3-4 ft of rain.

No expert on the park but pike tend to be at the eastern end of the park. Most lakes along the corridor will have decent smallie numbers. They usually associate with rocks and shoals. A canoe/boat would be very helpful. Caught some beauties on Lake of 2 Rivers years back. You'll need to go deep into the park and know what you're doing to have success with trout

Time to get some bear spray and be armed with at least a large knife on your walks. You're lucky this time it ended well. You wouldn't stand a chance against a mama with cubs if she meant business

Good news. Congrats

I'm betting that it won't be as good as the hype. Only 70 % coverage. Like a dark cloud kinda day. Saw the last one 30+ yrs ago. Disappointed We get 100% coverage with next one in 2024

Newer place at the north end east of Nogies Creek on the main lake. Blue Pigeon Resort. Looks pretty nice from the lake. In a sheltered shallow bay. Don't have first hand experience

Mid-life crisis motorcycle advice. NF
captpierre replied to captpierre's topic in General Discussion
So you Guys have got me scared off. Didn't know insurance would be that much. Plus leathers, safety course etc. Never mind the obvious risk of injury. I think I'll stick to my fishn boat and ATV. Maybe a Jetski. Although I hate them buzzing around me when I'm fishing at sunset on a calm night. Seems to happen a lot. Thanks Everyone. Always get good advice here from Guys that know. Cheers Peter -
Thinking about getting a bike to tour around cottage country with the wifie. Motorcycle virgin but bicycle a lot. 58 yr old, fairly fit, 5ft 6, 160 lb. wife is smaller. Always been afraid of motorcycles. They don't call them donercycles for nothing. Thought if I stay out of the city, drive country paved roads at off peak times and be super vigilant- it might be a lot of fun. Is this a good idea at my age? Is it much more challenging/dangerous with a passenger? What size and type of bike should I look at? I'm not a speed demon. Safety and comfort for 2 is most important. Kinda partial to Honda but open to anything. Likely used. Thanks.

See him on the news? Likely flown into an uninhabited lake in Siberia. Pike, trout and perch. Went into the bucket I wonder if he cleaned them ?

So my son is a master at catching carp off the dock here on north Pigeon. Usually they are 15+ lb. Yesterday he catches a 10 lber. Let's see what they taste like. Looked up a bunch of recipes. Tried frying with Fish Crisp, grilling with jerk rub, marinated with soy sauce/lemon juice. I must say it tasted pretty good. Only problem is the bones. Usually with an eye, I cut out a wedge containing the Y bones and we're boneless. Carp don't seem to have Y bones that you can feel on the inside of the fillet. Yet lots of big ones are present all over the place except in the belly meat. Unless there is some way to remove them the carp won't have to worry anymore. Anybody know?

Ever used or heard of "Green Worms"
captpierre replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Just do a simple test and also get regular worms and present them at the same time and way. Sort of a controlled study. Might save you some money. -
Last year at this time the lake peaked at 83 F. Yesterday 73 F. Will warm up still likely. Definitely doing better with eyes this summer. Coincidence?

Agreed. I'd post a lot of pictures

I'm in Trent Lakes township. I've heard it from several sources that inspections are coming and probably waterfront septics first. Neighbors are fine with the shed where planned.
-
Thanks everyone for your input. I've been asking others and a local contractor about this spiral septic system and nobody has heard of one. I have heard that all counties will be inspecting all septics soon. If I put a shed on it I'll likely be in trouble. Might have to set up a tent instead ?

I'm guessing your current rig is under powered. 30 hp on a 16 ft is a bit low. Typical Legend deal. I think you need to sort out the wakeboarding thing. To ski and tube any solid fish n ski boat with decent hp would do. Try to pretty much max out the hp rating on the boat. Proper wakeboarding requires a different beast. Rope needs to be attached high on a wakeboarding frame. Also to provide a proper wake you need a heavy boat with fillable water ballast tanks. Big money. Never mind a heavier tow vehicle. You'll need 2 boats. Buy a lottery ticket.

Related. I'm always uneasy when I'm fishing in a spot and a boat is coming straight towards me at full speed from a distance. Do they see me? In time. They often turn way late. I know of a guy that got run over by a ski boat.
