I agree this is likely someone's pet. Wild cougars are very elusive. This one seemed like it wanted to be caught.

North Caribou Lake - A Mecca For Trophy Pike & Walleye!
Carp replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Doesn't get any better than a fishing trip of this caliber with your wife and kids. Thanks for sharing. -
Looks great Chris. Congrats !!!

Take photos. Bring an inexpensive tripod so you can get in the pictures with your son. Even less expensive point and shoot cameras have timers so you can jump in the scene. Get others to snap a few photos of you two. Have a great time ! Cheers !!!

If you call it in to police, they will normally allow you to take the animal. I think they give you a reference # in case you're stopped so you don't get charged with poaching. I wouldn't bother if the animal is mangled too much though. Picked up a nice big whitetail doe a few years back. Just been hit by a truck, but the truck didn't stop....I did. She had a broken rear hip, but still allive. Felt bad about what had to happen next, but she was suffering. Tarp over the animal to hide it from passing motorists' view. Knife...throat....seconds later....done. Called it in and they said "sure, no problem taking the animal." I asked for a reference # in case I was stopped, but can't remember now if they ever gave me one. The conversation is recorded anyway, so there is proof of the call.

Exited about Cabelas coming to Barrie. I'm hoping the competition for business with Bass Pro, Sail, etc. means lower prices for all. Downside is mom and pop shops will suffer.

You don't need downriggers to get lake trout. You can try jigging for them in deep water.

Glad to hear the CO's are out there doing their thing. Just wish we had more of them.

A discussion on our rights(fishing/hunting related)
Carp replied to manitoubass2's topic in General Discussion
Starve to death or break the rules ? Rules go out the door. This is extreme case scenario, not " we forgot the cooler with the sandwiches, so we're gonna have to kill anything we can to survive " -
Stripper turnstile is for the birds.

In the last few years bears have been spotted in Newmarket, Burlington and Milton....that I know of. I'm sure they're in other communities as well. Saw a moose while driving at Hwy # 400 & Hwy #88 near Bradford a few years ago. Thought it was a horse at first, but as I got closer, it was obvious the animal was a moose. Rounded head compared to the horses tapered head. Legs were not tapered like a horse either. And the cow bell hanging fron under it's neck was a dead give away. Bears in Cornwall ? Not surprising.

Photobucket Bandwidth Limit? What is the Solution?
Carp replied to Aaron Shirley's topic in General Discussion
I've never had issues with photobucket, but I also don't use it very much. Never had to pay anything, but again, not using it as much as some people, so probably never reaching anywhere near the bandwith limits. -
Will you be asking about the OMNR to those that approach your door?
Carp replied to Gerritt's topic in General Discussion
Take it from someone who has worked elections since the mid eighties. They don't care if you don't like your options. They don't care if you leave the ballot blank or spoil it in some way. Yes, it has to be recorded as a spoiled ballot, but the ballots that are clearly marked on the ones that count. Don't give the bad guys more ammunition by not casting a vote for the opposing candidates. -
Spearing, Poaching and Dumping of Walleyes
Carp replied to Pikeslayer8's topic in General Discussion
I don't have as much a problem with the spearing as I do with leaving the fish to rot. Ran into a native gill net a few years back. While trying to untangle our lines, we saw dozens of walleye rotting in the net, along with several pike and some coarse fish. What a waste of a valuable resource !!! -
I have 3 shelving units you can have kickingfrog.......or anyone else for that matter. They're laying on their side in my garage. 2 gray and 1 white. A little flimsy without any weight on them. I was going to bolt them together and screw to the wall or use in the shed. Unfortunately, I have no space left in either the garage or the shed for any more shelving. Sorry. Blurry pic with my crappy phone camera. Tools not included. Ooops. Looks like the pic didnt work the first time. Here ya go.

In Canada, a firearm is described as anything that fires a projectile at a speed of 500 feet per second or faster. That's why many pellet guns are slightly below this mark. (490 ft. per sec., etc.) Yes, as mentioned above, there may be municipal regulations to deal with as well. Be careful if you decide to go the pellet gun route. Some neighbours may not understand what you're doing and just see someone with a gun. Next thing, you're getting a nasty visit from the police. I would try to live trap it and relocate the critter far away from your home. I've relocated several racoons a few kilometers away and across to the other side of a large river. Make sure you have a large garbage bag wherever you put the cage in your vehicle an several sheets of newsprint on top of that. If you don't, when the animals pee or poop, the cage and your vehicle will be soiled. Good luck !

Will you be asking about the OMNR to those that approach your door?
Carp replied to Gerritt's topic in General Discussion
Haven't had anyone knock at the door, but I'm not home much. If they do catch me home, I'll bring up the MNR funding for sure. Definitely not supporting the Fiberals. I also can't afford to take a chance on losing my job, so Tim Hudak is out. If I have to mark the ballot, it will be NDP this time. If anything, just to help ensure the other two don't win. -
Sorry to hear the news. It's never easy saying goodbye.

Toronto Pike Day with Taro Murata of Fish City Tours
Carp replied to saspirilli's topic in General Discussion
Glad to hear you had a productive day on the water. Always better than going to work. -
Spent a lot of time on the east shore of Georgian Bay, French River and West Arm of Nippissing in the 80's and 90's. Love the scenery. I can be at the launch on Lake Ontario in 15 to 20 min. Lots of big fish. Lots of fun over the years. Not much time these days to explore new waters or even spend more time on my favourites.

That was funny Tootsie ll. I usually tell them my brother is in the business and just cleaned my ducts and furnace recently. It seems to work for most of them. Same for windows. I'm fairly tolerant of these telemarketers. They're trying to make a buck to feed themselves or their family. The ones that are too agressive and won't accept NO, get raked over the coals for disturbing my beauty rest. I NEED AS MUCH AS I CAN GET !!!

Did she at least make you breakfast the next morning ?
